ALICE IN CHAINS recently spoke to AOL Music about the group's decision to reunite with a new singer, William Duvall.

"We spent half our lives together and created all this music, so just getting back in touch with it is a big thing, man," guitarist Jerry Cantrell said. "When you look back, you realize how much fun we actually had."

"Once we got rolling it was just really emotional for me, doing this without our brother Layne [Staley, late frontman]," added bassist Mike Inez.

"I think we've kind of found some sort of neutral buoyancy. We're floating in the ocean. It just feels good. It feels more natural."

Drummer Sean Kinney said the band had to deal with a lot of doubters at first. "Nobody knew what would happen, 'cause some people are just stupid," he said. "They can't let go of the past, and they believe things have to be a certain way. I hear a lot of people tell me, 'This can't work, and it shouldn't be.' By the third song, they're singing along. And then they feel the need to hunt you down and tell you they were wrong."

It's natural for people to be afraid of change....Especially when AIC had a strong legacy.

This puts that legacy in jeopardy in the eyes of some fans. But if the shoes fits, wear the f***er.

it was probably an easy decision considering that every band that there ever was is reuniting b/c of the way heavy music has blown up over the last few years. i dont mean any disrespect b/c you gotta make a living so i think that this may be an attempt to continue doing what they love, while at the same time making a nice chunk of change......id probably do it too.......everyone knows it cant be the same as it was w/ layne so I guess there is no problem here.

phil was their singer for some one off show that they played a few months back, that im pretty sure of. i think he is probably loaded up w/ all the down stuff ive heard is in the works.....would be cooler if he was their vocalist though.

yeah, thats what i thought. i just wasnt sure if he was still in the AIC mix or not. it'd be cool if he'd do some more touring with them or sing as a guest on an album or something, if he had the time.
