UK Mag Advertises Message From The Late Dimebag
'Harmonize', a registered member of the official MEGADETH forum, posted a U.K. magazine advertisement for the British television drama series "Afterlife". The advertisement appears to contain a fraudulent message from the late "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (Pantera, Damageplan), written post-mortem. "Afterlife" is based on the activities of a psychic medium who can seemingly communicate with the spirits of the deceased, and the advertisement is thus designed to imitate a classified "Personals" page in a newspaper where the recently passed-over are able to make contact with those of us still alive. The supposed message from Dimebag is as follows:
"Darrell, 38, talented guitarist, shot by crazed fan. Tell the bro's back home I'm doing fine. Raise a blacktooth on me. Oh yeah, Jimi says hi."
You can take a look at the advertisement here, and a close-up of the Dimebag message part here.
Dream Theater To Begin Recording New Album
Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater has announced on "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM that the band is currently in discussion with several labels on topic of a new record deal. Meanwhile, the band will be making use of a New York City studio to record it's follow-up to last year's "Octavarium", which is estimated for an April/May release next year. A few excerpts from the drummer's interview on "Friday Night Rocks" follows:
"We've done all of this pretty much on our own at this point. The labels thus far have… With the exception of our heyday 15 years ago, with 'Images and Words' and everything — other than that, we've pretty much just built this thing on our own, so it'll be amazing to see what we can do with a little bit of support."
"We are currently making our new album with Paul Northfield engineering. DREAM THEATER's had the same engineer for the last 10 years — this guy Doug Oberkircher — and for the sake of getting some fresh ears with us in the making of the new album, we're working with Paul, and Paul did [RUSH's] 'Permanent Waves', 'Moving Pictures', and 'Signals', as well as some of the newer stuff, so we're getting RUSH stories every day from Paul about the making of those albums, and how they recorded the guitar solo for 'Limelight'; he would tell us about the change of tide with 'Signals', and stuff ... It's really cool. Paul is an awesome guy."
"Me and Mikael [Åkerfeldt] from OPETH and Steven Wilson from PORCUPINE TREE, the three of us have been talking about doing something for a long time now, it's just been a matter of our schedules not working out, but I think it's inevitable that this project will come off in the near future, as soon as we can find a window that all three of us can together.
"I've done so many projects through the years, but none of them were like a real metal project. I've done prog things or classic-rock things or — you know, OSI, TRANSATLANTIC, those were kind of more proggy — but I've never done like a real metal thing, and that's so much in my blood."
Leng Tch'e Announce Completion Of New Album
Belgian grind band Leng Tch'e have announced that work on their latest studio effort, "Marasmus", is finished. Engineered by Fredrik Nordstrom and recorded at CCR Studios in Sweden, the album is due to be released sometime in March next year. Sven De Caluwe, the group's drummer, had this to say:
"It took us quite some time and a lot of hardships to get everything the way we wanted but we're done with recording the new LT album and it was definitely all worth it. "Marasmus" is definitely the most interesting & heavy sounding record we've made so far. It goes from heavy to groovy to plain ridiculously fast, so there's a little bit for everyone on this one. We can't wait to have this out there for you maniacs to get a hold on to!! Expect nothing but razorgrind in it's most extreme and diverse form!"The outfit has also recently released a split-cd with french band Warscars, which features 8 new Leng Tch'e songs (more info at RazorGrind), 2 tracks from which can be heard on the bands MySpace page.

Diabolic Post New Song Online
Florida-based death metallers DIABOLIC have uploaded a new song, entitled "Devour the Subconscious", to their MySpace page. The track comes off the band's new album, "Shellfire and Tombstones", which was recorded and mixed in July/August 2006 at Diet Of Worms Studio in Seffner, Florida with producer Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez (MORBID ANGEL). The album features artwork by acclaimed Swedish artist Mathias Noren and is tentatively scheduled for release late 2006/early 2007 through an as-yet-undetermined label.
Death Breath Parts Ways With Bassist
DEATH BREATH, the new Swedish old-school death metal project featuring former ENTOMBED drummer and main songwriter Nicke Andersso (currently the frontman of his rock 'n' roll band THE HELLACOPTERS), has parted ways with bassist Magnus Hedquist. "The reasons for his departure are, shall we say, none of your business at the moment," the group writes in a statement.
DEATH BREATH will make its live debut on October 26 at Debaser Medis in Stockholm, Sweden. The band will be joined by Scott Carlson (REPULSION) on bass and Erik Wallin (HARMS WAY, MERCILESS) on second guitar.
Celtic Frost Frontman Gives Update On Tour
CELTIC FROST frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted the following message on his official blog:
"Tonight is SAHG's last appearance on CELTIC FROST's 'Monotheist' tour in North America. It is incredibly hard to see them go. Not only do we consider them very good friends of ours, but it has been an honor and a true pleasure to be on the road with them.
"And tomorrow, in San Francisco, 1349 will play their scheduled last show as our special guests. It is difficult to imagine not seeing them every day anymore. The friendship between 1349 and CELTIC FROST is deep and very unique, and we will miss them much. If circumstances permit, we will invite Ravn, 1349's singer, to perform 'The Usurper' with us onstage to commemorate the occasion. We tried it today during the soundcheck, and it was fantastic.
"We all can't believe a third of this long tour has already passed. We crossed the North American continent together and entered Canada twice. And then some. But all three groups have worked together very well and very professionally, and that has made it possible to enjoy what really is an ambitious and often hard schedule."
Ephel Duath Check In From The Road
Returning home after 15 hours travelling from Holland, a tired but very happy Davide of Ephel Duath said:
"Our new drummer Sergio Ponti has been astonishing. We are happy we have the fourth Ephel Duath. Sergio Ponti made his debut with us on 28th September he's a fresh talent and he's pushing our sound to new exciting rhythmical perspectives.
Here's some information about our new percussionist: he studied with Mokhtar Samba (Yousson N'Dour,Salif Keita, Richard Bona, Jean Luc Ponty) and Jay Dittamo (Band From Utopia, Junoon). He has played with Mike Keneally (solo artist, Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Robert Fripp), Arthur Barrow (Zappa, Giorgio Moroder, Diana Ross, Joe Cocker), Ian Anderson, SFOM Orchestra, Bernardo Lanzetti (PFM) and many others.
He played in two editions of the Los Angeles's NAMM show. He organized clinic tours for Ellade Bandini, Marco Minnemann, Clive Bunker and Horacio Hernandez. Welcome Sergio!"

The Dillinger Escape Plan Post Update
Hahaha you guys clicked fucking HARD. Seriously though we get a lot of messages a day asking when it's coming out. It's coming, the wait will be worth it, just hang in there. Only six more years. Hahaha! Remember that one time....that time when we didn't put a full length album out from 1999 to 2004? What if our next cd comes out in 2009? I know you all don't think it's funny but we think it's hilarious. Kinda.
In reality, we are far into the writing of our new cd. Everyone is living and breathing this record 24/7 and we're all excited. We spend most of our time holed up in a couple different Dillinger living/writing spots, including an underground lair and a house with an interior that resembles the one from fight club, rarely coming outside or even being awake during daylight hours for that matter, living like little rats. We only come out for Dunkin Donuts or 24 hr grocery stores at 3am. Rest assured the album will come out much sooner than our previous track record would indicate. We appreciate everyone's patience....good things come to those who wait. Uh....unless you're waiting for the new GNR record which apparently is coming out Nov 21st, 'cause that shit is gonna be an abomination mark my words. I hope I'm wrong, but seriously, since Slash rolled the fuck out, braided Axl imposter guy has had not only a guy who wears a chicken bucket on his head filling in for him but about 30 other dorks too. None of whom have magical top hats that somehow never fall off and none of whom have a cool name like Slash or even Corpsefucker for that matter. The forecast is here and the outlook is decidedly GRIM. Get Adler back and stop dicking around.
ANYHOW, In the meantime, check out Ben and Chris playing a mix of prearranged weirdness and improv at John Zorn's wacky beatnik avant-garde club The Stone in NYC on the 20th of this month. It's located at the corner of avenue C and 2nd street in the east village and starts at 10pm. All tickets are $10 and sold at the door only.
Chris is also doing some drum clinics coming up where he'll be showing people how to play in time signatures nobody's ever heard of at the speed of light. Come out so you can watch Chris go "ok here's how you do this" and then proceed to play something nobody could possibly figure out. The first one is Monday October 23rd at Ritchie's Music Center at 424 Rt. 46 West Rockaway N.J 07866 and starts at 7pm. The second is Thursday October 26th at University of Michigan Dearborn Center Stage 4901 Evergreen Rd. Dearborn MI 48128 and also starts at 7pm.
