Decrepit Birth Give Update On New Album

Santa Cruz, California-based death metallers DECREPIT BIRTH have issued the following update:

The new album will be called "Diminishing Between Worlds". This album will be a step in more of a melodic and progressive direction yet still have a heavy dose of technical brutality. Very reminiscent of bands such as later Death, Cynic and Quo Vadis mixed with the brutality that Decrepit Birth is known for. We are really trying to do something new with album, and we feel that we have grown as musicians and that "Diminishing Between Worlds" will be a reflection of that.

We are very happy to get to work with Unique Leader Records again, and we are confident that they will greatly contribute to the success of Decrepit Birth from now into the future. The album will feature session/touring bassist Erlend Caspersen (Blood Red Throne, All Seeing I). Artwork will be by none other than Dan Seagrave.

DECREPIT BIRTH's debut album, "...And Time Begins", was released in October 2003 via Unique Leader Records.

Guitarist Tony Lazaro of VITAL REMAINS has issued the following update:

"So our tour with the Swedes... DISMEMBER and GRAVE came to an end. We had a killer time out there and want to thank all the bands we shared the stage with... DISMEMBER, GRAVE, DEMIRICOUS and WITHERED. Thanks to all the metal fans that came out in support!! It was great to go out on one more tour before we lock ourselves up in the practice space and finish witting the album.

"St. Pete's [St. Petersburg, Florida] was a great stop. Got to hang out with Trey from MORBID ANGEL. Thanks for coming out to the show and hanging out all night at the Hard Rock Cafe Casino drinking until the sun came up. And then realizing I had to drive with no sleep, aaahhh the road, you got love it! Hahaha. Also Erik Rutan [HATE ETERNAL, MORBID ANGEL] came to pick Dave and I up to visit his studio Mana Recording. This place is so nice and the board and gear they have is awesome! We can't wait to record this album down there, it's going to be sick! With Rutan, Benton, Suzuki and me locked in a studio for a month there's not enough holy water to wash away the mess we are going to make! Christ better be wearing depends..."

Fear Factory "Machines At War" Tour Dates

Fear Factory has mapped out dates for a late-year traveling thrash caravan, with fellow metalists Suffocation, Hypocrisy, and Decapitated along for the ride.

The band will kick things off Thursday (10/26) near Sacramento, CA, with 37 stops around the continent planned through mid-December for the outing, which the group has dubbed the Machines at War tour.

"I'm really excited about doing a heavy tour like this," the band's drummer, Raymond Herrera, said in a press release. "A brutal line-up full of metal pioneers has been a long time coming. I guarantee a lot of our fans will agree. Plus you'll be certain to hear some Fear Factory songs that have not been played live in quite some time."

"Transgression," the band's eighth studio effort, and second for Liquid Eight Records, was released in August 2005. "The Best of Fear Factory," hit stores this September.

Fear Factory has toured extensively the last two years supporting "Transgression" and 2004's "Archetype," and spent large parts of 2005 supporting Megadeth on its Gigantour, along with Dream Theater, Dillinger Escape Plan and Nevermore.

The band is currently collaborating with photographer Omer Cordell on a photo book documenting last year's tour and its Gigantour appearances.

Here are the "Machines At War" tour dates: More...

Kiss Prepares Onslaught Of Archival Material

Tjames Madison of Live Daily reports: KISS fans will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with their heavy metal heroes in movie theaters during an upcoming special screening of a classic concert from 1976.

"KISS Alive! On the Big Screen" will screen one night only, Oct. 26, in selected movie theaters around the country. The footage captures the band in its original and most familiar incarnation--Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss--performing during a 1976 concert at Detroit's Cobo Hall.

"I was blown away by this footage," Stanley said in a press release. "Watching it on the big screen is as close as anyone will ever get to traveling back to those days."

Tickets to the event will cost $10, and are available through the Big Screen Concerts website, along with a list of theaters showing the film.

The movie event represents only the tip of the latest marketing iceberg for the band. The group has set a Nov. 21 release date for a new box set containing reissues of some of its most famous live recordings. "KISS Alive!!! 1975-2000" will include newly remastered versions of 1975's "Alive I," 1977's "Alive II," and the 1993 release "Alive III," as well as the previously unreleased "Millennium Concert" from 2000, which was originally intended to be issued as "Alive IV," but later scrapped.

The group also plans a Halloween day release of its new concert/documentary DVD. The two-disc "KISSology Vol. 1 1974-1977" will include more than six hours of concert and backstage footage going back to the band's earliest days.

Aside from the slew of new KISS product, bassist/singer Gene Simmons has been busy with his latest foray into capitalism, a new line of designer fragrances for both men and women.

Simmons recently dropped in at an Army base in North Carolina to promote the products, KISS Him cologne and KISS Her perfume.

"If people decide that a KISS fragrance line makes sense," Simmons said during the promotional jaunt, "who's to argue with America?"

Eyehategod CD/EP To Be Release By Moshpit Tragedy

EYEHATEGOD have announced they will re-release their ultra-rare “99 Miles of Bad Road” seven-inch on CD through Canada’s Moshpit Tragedy Records.

The CD will feature re-mastered demo recordings of the songs “99 Miles Of Bad Road”, “Story Of The Eye” and “Jackass In The Will Of God” (originally released on Brazil’s 2+2=5 Records) as well as bonus live tracks and enhanced live video footage.

Regarded as the founders of American sludgecore, EYEHATEGOD have become one of the most important bands to emerge from the NOLA (New Orleans, Louisana) Metal Scene. EYEHATEGOD formed in 1988 and became known for their heavy, detuned and bluesy guitar riffs, combined with walls of feedback and tortured vocals to create a harsh misanthropic vibe.

Moshpit Tragedy Records (who’ve signed an exclusive N. American distribution deal with Cargo Music, Inc.) have also recently announced plans to re-issue crust legends EXTINCTION OF MANKIND “Ale To England” on CD with new cover art and bonus live tracks.

Deftones "Saturday Night Wrist" Listening Party

Ahead of its October 31st release, Deftones' new album 'Saturday Night Wrist' is available for in its entirety streaming in its entirety on their MySpace page. The Deftones are currently touring the US with Deadsy.

Rather than work with longtime producer Terry Date, Deftones decided to record with Bob Ezrin. Cunningham says that while the group enjoyed working with Date, "At this point, we just needed to change things up ... And this is definitely a different style. Working with him (Ezrin) is just putting us fucking upside down. He's cracking the whip."[7] The band has since chosen not to go with Ezrin's production of their work. As of April 7, 2006 the band is finishing recording the album with former Far guitarist Shaun Lopez as producer. Confirmed collaborations on the record include Annie Hardy from Giant Drag on the song 'Pink Cell Phone' and Serj Tankian from System of a Down on the track 'Mein.'

Dio-Era Black Sabbath Reunion Is Official

According to the official Black Sabbath website which directs readers to Ronnie James Dio and Tony Iommi's websites, the Black Sabbath reunion of the Dio era Sabbath is official. The reunion is going under the name of Heaven and Hell rather than Black Sabbath, but does include Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. Heaven and Hell is the title of the classic 1980 album they recorded as Black Sabbath. Heaven and Hell are planning to record a new album and start touring early in 2007.

Tony Iommi previously commented on the possibility of further collaborations with Ronnie James Dio:

"We've already written one [new] song together. The reason for that is that there's a release coming out, it's called 'Black Sabbath: The Dio Years' — they've already done one, of course, 'Black Sabbath: The Ozzy Years'; that was the beginning and, really, the best part of it all — but they've decided to do one, again, 'Black Sabbath: The Dio Years', and we wanted to make it a little but more special, not just give you things you've not heard from a live perspective. These are two things you'll never hear again — two new songs. We are going to do that. It's been fun already. The one we've done — the one that I've done with Tony has been really wonderful — just great to realize how magnificent a player he was. You forget that after 10 years at a time that you don't work with someone. So we are gonna be doing that. And I hope you'll like it. I think it'll be great."
