Vader Say Goodbye To Former Drummer 'Doc'
Polish death metallers VADER have posted the following message on their official web site:
"This day we said last time goodbye to our friend and great musician — Krzysztof 'Docent' Raczkowski. The funeral took place in his hometown Korsze near Olsztyn. We accompanied him on his last journey with great sadness, pain and sorrow flowing from our hearts. After the tragedy we've realized how precious gift life is. Especially now, when we should assume some responsibility for his premature death, shouldn't we?... Doc — you will stay forever in our hearts, thoughts and acts."
Sharon Osbourne's "Open Letter" To Maiden Manager
In the ongoing aftermath of the San Bernardino Ozzfest incident, Sharon Osbourne has issued the following "open letter" to IRON MAIDEN manager Rod Smallwood:
"Rod,
"I found your statement to be completely void of the facts that led up to Saturday's show. Your press release was written like an old-time '80s manager, trying to use every opportunity to try and sell the record and the upcoming shows instead of just dealing with the truth.
"These are the facts: More...
Zakk Wylde Comments More In Depth On Dickinson
RockConfidential.com earlier today (August 25) conducted an interview with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman/OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist Zakk Wylde. An excerpt from the chat follows:
RockConfidential.com: Ozzy announced on this tour that he'd be retiring from Ozzfest and only doing select shows in the future. What do you think about that?
Zakk Wylde: "I always told Ozz that the great thing is that he's the namesake of it. If you created the Superbowl and played in the first Superbowl, people are gonna show up to see other Superbowls. Just because the Green Bay Packers were in the first two, what nobody's gonna show up if their not in 'em all? It's still the Superbowl. I told Ozz he should take a year off. That's the beauty of it. Take a year off and let somebody else headline the thing, chill out and relax. If anybody deserves to take a weekend off it's definitely him! They say James Brown is the hardest working man in show business, but Ozzy never stops!"
RockConfidential.com: Is the whole thing with IRON MAIDEN overblown or is it for real? How did all the drama start?
Zakk Wylde: "This is fact and this is reality. It's not the guys in MAIDEN and their crew. They're a beautiful bunch of guys. Bruce Dickinson every night would be saying 'Ozzy sucks,' 'Ozzfest blows,' 'Corporate America sucks,' 'America sucks,' and all this other crap. He was bagging on America and bagging on Ozz. Ozzy's the godfather of my son. It wasn't like Bruce said those things one night. This happened every night on the 'fest. If you got signed by George Steinbrenner to play for the Yankees and every day you say, 'Steinbrenner sucks,' 'Yankee Stadium blows,' 'I can't stand playing for this team — it sucks ass,' then why are you playing for the Yankees? Shut your fuckin' pie hole. All he had to do was go up there, play for an hour, whoop some ass and go home. The only thing Ozzy's ever done was given MAIDEN a stage to come over and play to the biggest audience in the summer. Ozzy would give you the shirt off his back. He'd never do a bad thing to anybody. Sharon didn't like him talking about her husband like that and talking about Ozzfest like that. It's just not kosher. The bottom line is Bruce was being a wad! You act like a cunt, you get treated like a cunt! That's what happened. He's definitely not one of the guys. Everybody in their band and crew are cool. I love MAIDEN but he's talking about the godfather of my son, he's bagging America and all the troops are fighting overseas defending our way of life and freedom and fighting terrorism. This dickwad's taking American money and then he's gonna go home. At the same time he thinks he can badmouth America. It's not cool. He got pelted with a batch of eggs and they turned the power off on him! Go home!"

Edguy Show Report From BB Kings, NYC
The date was August 16, 2005. I was at BBkings in New York City, New York to see one of my favorite bands, Into Eternity, open for a band I enjoyed listening to, Edguy. While waiting for the show to start, I headed back stage to interview Edguy, unfortunately they were not ready for me and I should come back at 7pm, when the show started. After seeing the first song from Into Eternity, Splintered Visions, I go back stage again to do my interview. I finish as they start their last song, Beginning of the End, which also happened to be one of my favorites. Though I only caught two songs in the end, it was amazing. Those two songs satisfied my appetite for seeing Into Eternity live, since I had seen them before and they will be around again shortly. More...
Glassjaw to Play One Show w/ The Used in NYC
Doctors have released Glassjaw Lead Singer Daryl Palumbo to play one show. That one show will be August 31, 2005 at the Hammerstein Ballroom as the Main Support for The Used. who are currently on a Headline U.S. and Canadian Tour
The Used are also playing Hammerstein Ballroom on August 30 and Glassjaw will NOT be on that show.
Daryl Palumbo - "It sucks that my health did not permit me to do the whole tour but I am excited to be able to play a Glassjaw show in my hometown. I am working hard on getting better and look forward to doing more touring with Head Automatica and Glassjaw in the future."
Bert McCracken - "Glassjaw are one of my favorite bands of all time and to get to play with them even once is an honor!"
As Previously reported, Glassjaw were slated to tour with The Used, but had to withdraw from the tour due to singer Daryl Palumbo’s on going battle with Crohn’s Disease. Palumbo has been suffering from Crohn’s since childhood and it has wreaked havoc on the dynamic singer’s personal and professional life. H2O replaced Glassjaw on the tour.
Iron Maiden's Official Response on Ozzfest
Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood has issued the following statement concerning the band's treatment at their final Ozzfest appearance in San Bernardino (line breaks inserted for readability):
"Maiden are currently returning from America and preparing for UK festivals this weekend and don't wish to waste time giving Sharon Osbourne's statement the dignity of a reply. Considering the disgraceful nature of the events that occurred they feel it's a pretty dismal effort at self justification and they don't think Metal fans are at all gullible and that they will easily see through it. They want no more to do with this sorry incident and are very much looking forward to headlining Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend.
"I would however like to add my own comment on this. In 30 years in this business and after attending hundreds of gigs I have never seen anything anywhere near as disgusting and unprofessional as what went on that night. I was standing on our sound desk out front as usual but ran to the stage as soon as the hail of missiles began and from then on watched from the front of the stage right next to Bruce's walkway. The scale, viciousness and concentration of the throwing made it obvious that this was a premeditated and co-ordinated attack. Assaulting musicians while performing by throwing bottle tops, lighters and eggs at them from just a few yards away is vile, dangerous, criminal and cowardly. It is incredible that Ozzfest security apparently did nothing about it - aren't they there to protect the bands too? Especially when the band is concentrating on a performance in front of 45,000 people and the missiles are coming out of the glare of the spotlights. And to spit at a band on stage is unforgivable. Iron Maiden, like all the bands on Ozzfest, had to sign quite onerous legal documents part of which was promising not to throw anything into the audience, even wristbands!!! Ironic isn't it[?] More...

Machine Head DVD Due Out In October
Roadrunner Records UK have posted this news concerning the new Machine Head DVD, "Elegies", which had been delayed:
After months of speculation, most of the final details for Machine Head's upcoming DVD "Elegies" have been officially announced! Scheduled to street on October 10th, their first-ever DVD release will focus around (and contain the entirety of) Machine Head's performance at London's Brixton Academy, filmed on December 5th, 2004. In addition, the disc will feature three behind-the-scenes vignettes, focusing on the making of the band's newest record "Through the Ashes of Empires", life on the road with Machine Head, and an up-close and personal look at the greatest horde of lunatics in the world - Machine Head fans. Viewers will have the choice of watching the vignettes interstitially (injected into the concert footage) or on their own. On top of that, three music videos - "Imperium", "Days Turn Blue To Gray" (both uncensored and uncut) and "The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears" - will also be included, each accompanied by its own behind-the-scenes "Making of" documentary.
All of the aforementioned behind-the-scenes and documentary material has been recompiled and re-edited from over 300 hours of footage amassed by the band since writing for "Through the Ashes of Empires" began in 2003, providing a never-before-seen glimpse into the world of heavy metal's most ferocious empire.

Old Man's Child To Release New Album In October
With the release of their 6th full-length album “Vermin” on October 17th, Old Man's Child is more than ready to top the praise its predecessor “In Defiance Of Existence” legitimately received.
Old Man's Child returned to Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden (In Flames, Arch Enemy and others), with Patrik J. Sten and Fredrik Nordström helping to create a new monster of an album. “Vermin” offers a massively sounding, grim trip into the sinister visions of mastermind Galder. With Danish beat-machine Reno H. Kiilerich, who was drafted by Dimmu Borgir as a live drummer after stints with Panzerchrist, Vile and Exmortem (and who won a drum contest displaying the fastest footwork after exceeding over 800 hits on the double-bass pedals in one minute) and a guest appearance by Dragonland/Testament guitarist Eric Peterson band founder Galder is in more than just good company and with artwork by Greek artist Set “Vermin” is also visually a dark and morbid slab of melodic, bombastic yet hateful Black Metal.
“Vermin” tracklisting:
1. Enslaved And Condemned (4:15)
2. The Plague Of Sorrow (4:09)
3. War Of Fidelity (4:19)
4. In Torment's Orbit (5:04)
5. Lord Of Command [Bringer Of Hate] (4:51)
6. The Flames Of Deceit (4:39)
7. Black Marvels Of Death (4:22)
8. Twilight Damnation (4:42)
9. ...As Evil Descends (1:11)
