Diecast Tour Report, Joining 3IoB For Tour
DIECAST frontman Paul Stoddard has reported from the front lines as the Century Media group prepares to join 3 INCHES OF BLOOD and Ironclad Recordings' IF HOPE DIES later this month for a short stint out on the west coast:
"Hey friends. Thanks to you guys, it was another amazing tour in Europe. We made alot of new friends on this tour as well as saw a lot of old friends. I also want to thank DO OR DIE, END OF DAYS, and most of all Napalm Death and their crew.
When you have three bands on a bus at the same time a lot could happen to make it become a reality show gone wrong. Instead, it was one huge chaotic party on wheels.
A lot of screaming, a lot of drinking, and a lot of DIO!!!
This tour was loaded with good times. I remember the insanity of Trier, Germany. The whole front row was Diecast shirts as well as many through the crowd and everyone was screaming for different songs as well as singing them, there is no better feeling than that!
Then there was the time we played the fortress in Serbia. We played in a huge moat on a giant stage with crazy lights and at least 5000 insane people, Fucking Sick!
Of course how could I forget Darmstadt, Germany. Without a doubt the hottest show we've ever played. It was 150 degrees Fahrenheight (around 65 degrees Celsius) on that stage (NO LIE). The poor drummer, Frank from End Of Days collapsed from heat exhaustion. Everyone stuck it out! The bands and most of all the fans.
I could go on about how great this tour was but it would take another seven weeks. I’m proud to say Europe has really accepted Diecast and taken us under their wing. Thanks so fucking much, and we can't wait to come back and rip it up in Jan./Feb. and headline our first tour in Europe. Thanks alot guys and we’ll see you soon."
Overlorde Posts New Song Online
Overlorde announces the launch of its MySpace Music page at MySpace.com! Guitarist Mark "M.E." Edwards explained the importance of this:
"The metal community has really flourished at MySpace. Especially the American fans. We just recently became aware of MySpace Music, which allows bands to post songs and interact in a positive way with fans. It really is a great place to bring the bands and fans together, and I think its going to go a long way in rejuvenating the classic/heavy/power metal scene here in the states. The response has already been great. The page has only been up for about 10 days and we have already hooked up with over 500 new fans!"
The site is found at www.myspace.com/overlorde. Anyone who already has a MySpace profile is invited to send an ADD FRIEND REQUEST to the band. For everyone else, you don't need to be registered to check it out but it is required to access all sections of the Overlorde page. Registration is free.
"People visiting the site will find some cool things and surprises on our MySpace Music page in the coming weeks". Edwards explained. "And right now there is information regarding a contest to win free shirts and posters. You can also post to a blog wishing some of Overlorde's band members a happy birthday. If anyone out there likes what he or she sees, be sure to tell all your other MySpace friends! See you there!"

Deceiver Part Ways With Singer
Deceiver, the Swedish metal band featuring former members of Maze of Torment and Xenofanes, have parted ways with vocalist Destormo "due to other commitments." "Instead of finding a new member, Pete Flesh (guitar) will take over that duty," the band write in a press release.
The group, who released their full-length debut, "Riding with the Reaper", earlier in the year via Iron Fist Productions, have finished laying down a new two-track "test demo" featuring the songs "Fucking Chaos" and "Certain to Die in Forceful Fire". The demo, which offers a taste of the material that will appear on the group's sophomore album, tentatively due in June 2006, can be downloaded from the band's official web site, Deceiver.tk.
"Riding with the Reaper" was recorded over a one-week period at the Abyss studio with producer Tommy Tägtgren. It is the follow-up to Deceiver's self-titled debut mini-CD, which came out in the summer of 2004. The EP, which features five songs recorded at Abyss with Tommy Tägtgren, was previously said to appeal to "fans of old stuff such as Motorhead, Mercyful Fate, Venom, Metallica and Judas Priest."
Hammerfall Guitarist Talks About Upcomming US Tour
Hammerfall guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"Accept at Wacken was the best fucking show I have seen all year! Absolutely awesome and unforgettable for someone who thought they'd never appear on the same stage together again. Thank you! Hammerfall played right before the Metal Masters, and the sight from the stage was breathtaking! So many people, so many arms, so many voices, unbelievable! Fans as far as the eye could see, and far out on both sides of the stage, I reckon this might have been the largest audience we have ever played before. Whatever the case may be, it sure was a fantastic closing to the festival summer for us.
"I'm in my hotel room in Toronto writing this, as the North American adventure begins with a show at the Opera House tonight. We arrived yesterday afternoon. Both Edguy and Hammerfall are very excited about this three-and-a-half-week tour. They, because they’ve never been on the road in the U.S. before, and we, because this will be our first headline outing here. And, of course, both bands, because we always have fun together. Last time we went touring together was when we traveled across Europe on the Templar World Crusade in the spring of 1999. Now, six years later and more experienced in creating havoc, I'm sure we will have an absolute blast together. Check out the tour dates section for details on where you can catch us on the road in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to enjoy the world of metal and melodies from two bands that definitely know what they are doing. If you don't like it, it's your loss. We're not making any excuses for what we are, and we never will. But if you are like us, I assure you you will have a terrific evening. You want some, come get some! Word life."
Hammerfall's latest album, "Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken", was released in March via Nuclear Blast Records The follow-up to 2002's "Crimson Thunder" was produced and mixed by Charlie Bauernfeind (Blind Guardian, Helloween).
Dark Funeral: New Album Title And Release Date
Dark Funeral have set "Attero Totus Sanctus" as the title of their new album, due to be released on October 24th via Regain Records.

Maiden to Be Inducted Into Hollywood's RockWalk
Legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden will be inducted into Guitar Center's Hollywood Rockwalk on Sunset Blvd. on August 19th at 7:30 p.m. Renowned for such groundbreaking albums in the 80's as the multi platinum "The Number of the Beast", "Piece of Mind" and "Powerslave", and more recently "Brave New World" and "Dance of Death", Iron Maiden were and remain one of the most influential and foremost bands of the heavy metal genre having sold over 65 Million albums Wordwide to date, despite the fact that they are rarely heard on the radio.
It has always been on stage with their fans in front of them that Maiden, with outstanding musicianship and remarkable stage productions, have been most at home. Even after 12 remarkably successful World Tours over the last 25 years, the band's popularity still continues to grow. During this Summer's European Tour they performed to half a million people over 20 shows, topping the bill at a series of Europe's biggest Rock Festivals as well as their own headline Stadium shows including Gothenburg, Sweden, where all 55,000 tickets sold out in the space of two hours of going on sale some 8 months before the show day. This concert was also broadcast live on Prime Time TV across Scandanavia, the first live broadcast for any band there since Live Aid in 1985.
In the last few weeks, Maiden have been storming the USA appearing on this year's Ozzfest, receiving glowing reviews from all parts of the USA - "Iron Maiden is the stand out band of this tour" states the Hollywood Reporter, Chicago tribune says "Dickinson's soaring battle cries held the crowd spellbound" while in the Virginia Star, "Iron Maiden deserves every accolade thrown it's way".
Once the band finish in the USA in Los Angeles on Aug 20 they will conclude the summer tour with headline appearances at the prestigious Reading and Leeds Festivals in the UK, performing to a sold out audiences of 120,000 over the two shows.
To close off this year the band will release "Death On The Road", a double live Album on August 30th in the USA through Sanctuary Records and also a spectacular Triple DVD of the same show shortly afterwards, filmed on their last album tour in 2003. Early in 2006 the band will start working on a new studio album which will see them back on the road later that year.
Hollywood's RockWalk is the only sidewalk gallery dedicated to honoring those artists who have made a significant impact and lasting contribution to the growth and evolution Rock 'n' Roll, Blues and R&B. Their handprints and signatures will reside alongside other equally accomplished musicians and innovators such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Lou Reed, Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, B. B. King, Van Halen, James Brown, George Martin, Steve Miller, Sonic Youth, Brian Wilson, Carlos Santana, Carl Perkins, John Lee Hooker, The Ramones, Bonnie Raitt and Holland-Dozier-Holland among others.
As I Lay Dying Singer Says Metalcore Fad Is Fading
As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis recently told the Great Falls Tribune that the sub-genre of metalcore is nearing its expiration.
"I think metal core is a trend right now and so it's easy to write a metal core record," Lambesis said.
"I think it's pretty much at its peak right now. It'll get a little bigger this summer. Sounds of the Underground is going out. Ozzfest is going out. Those are both big tours that feature a lot of metal core bands. Those will, I think, bring it to its peak and then from there, it'll be up to each band individually to survive the trend."
Lambesis hopes fans see As I Lay Dying's new album, "Shadows Are Security", more as a classic metal album than just another metalcore production.
"I think a timeless metal record is one that has very precise guitar work," Lambesis said. "Very fast and energetic drumming. It doesn't have a token breakdown for the sake of having a token breakdown. Every part of the song makes sense as an actual part of a song and not just a breakdown or a dance part for kids to mosh to."
In addition to his vocal duties and songwriting responsibilities, Lambesis also produces the As I Lay Dying records and has branched out to produce records for other bands, most recently, Sworn Enemy.
"I really enjoy producing our stuff and I really think that people who've heard the new record really like the production of it," he said. "The producer has the overall vision. A lot of bands write great individual parts, but when it comes to putting songs together, the producer makes them do actual songs. It's pretty easy when you listen to a lot of metal CDs to hear great riffs and great individual parts, but very few metal bands actually make great songs."
