Jason here with a quick news update on some drum clinics I will be participating in this September. I was asked to participate in Drummer Live last year and could not partake due to our touring schedule. I was asked again this year and fortunately I'll be able to be a part of it. Motorhead Guitarist Helps Accident Victim
Mötorhead guitarist Phil Campbell will join four other bands at a charity gig in Wales tonight (August 22) for a barman left blind and deaf after an horrific car accident.
21-year-old Nick Butcher, whose dad, Tim, works as a technician with Mötorhead , needed major reconstructive surgery to put 20 metal plates in his face after the head-on collision.
Commented Tim: "Nick is a real joker, full of life. He's still got his sense of humor but that's all he¹s got left. As a parent, it's awful to see. I think he's taken it better than I have."
Nick, a former Llanishen High School pupil, was with his girlfriend with their car was involved in the road smash.
The impact crushed his head, destroyed his nose, and fracturing his jaw and skull. He was in a coma at Swansea's Morriston Hospital for a month following the crash ten weeks ago.
He eventually woke but found his senses gone, and plans to become a catering manager over.
"Nick and his girlfriend were knocked unconscious," said Tim. "She woke and thought he was dead.
"We had been together in the morning and I had left to go to the Hammersmith Odeon in London for Mötorhead's 30th anniversary concert. The police called and said they weren¹t sure he would make it.
"He is now blind and deaf and has no feeling in his face or head. He has got brain damage and can speak but is a lot slower."
Nick, who once worked at Cardiff¹s Hanover Hotel, has just started physiotherapy and is allowed home from hospital at weekends.

Children Of Bodom Finish "In Your Face" Video
According to Children of Bodom fansite, Scythes-of-Bodom.com, the new Children of Bodom video for their latest single, "In Your Face," was shot a few days ago in Berlin, Germany and was aired on Finnish TV in the last days. There is no storyline to the video and you just see the band playing, like in their last video, "Trashed, Lost & Strungout." There are some parts with optical and graphical effects. The video is the edited version of under 4 minutes of the song (duration of the album version is 4:16), which is also featured on the single as the third track. However, no swear words were censored in the video.

Five Bolt Main Report From Huntington, WV
On Friday the 12th of August I arrived at the Monkey Bar in Huntington, WV. I was a little late for my 7:30pm interview with the guys of Five Bolt Main. I came in the back door of the club, after finding the front door locked. I found a long haired guy with glasses and asked for Ivan, who had set up the interview. Then recognizing the long haired guy from a photo on the Five Bolt Main website, I introduced myself and he in turn introduced himself as Ben, the bass player. Ben hailed Ivan who was on stage taking care of covering up instruments and microphones before the opening acts came on. Ivan came down and introduced himself, he is a large guy with a long goatee, which was tied off and dyed bright green at the tip. I apologized for being late but he shrugged it off informing me they had just finished sound check so I would have been waiting anyway. More...

Iron Maiden Single Enters UK Charts At No. 5
Iron Maiden has posted this message on the website:
Iron Maiden stormed into the UK singles chart yesterday at no. 5 with "The Trooper" - their 16th Top Ten Single - taken from their forthcoming double live album "Death On The Road."
"Iron Maiden have had more hits than any other heavy metal band in chart history, with 16 of their singles making the Top 10, 33 reaching the Top 40, and 35 entering the Top 75 since their 1980 debut Running Free" (Music Week).
Over the weekend the band were inaugurated into America's Rock Walk of Fame on Sunset Boulevard - an honour already bestowed on such musical luminaries as Elvis Presley, John Lennon, AC/DC, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and James Brown. With Sunset Blvd partialy closed and many media and fans in attendance, US Radio luminary Jim Ladd introduced the band and a presentation was made of a charity cheque from Rockwalk on behalf of Iron Maiden to Opus Foundation. The band then made the traditional handprints in the soft concrete (photo) and manager Rod Smallwood inserted Eddie's claw before being 'concreted' by the band.
Maiden want to thank all the fans who made the effort to be there - especially you guys who drove 5 hours each way from Phoenix!! We are sorry we couldnt get to do autographs for you all due to time and space and security restrictions.

Iron Maiden Post Message About San Bernardino
IRON MAIDEN have posted the following message on their official web site:
"IRON MAIDEN wish to thank all the 45,000 metal fans at Ozzfest in San Bernardino on Saturday night for sticking with us and giving us such a great response at the end of a difficult set. It was obvious to all there that we had a 'series of unfortunate events' throughout! These made it difficult for us to keep our momentum but your incredible support certainly helped us get through it. We guess it all adds up to a pretty memorable gig though!!!
"This is, however, a metal festival. It is supposed to be fun for all. You fans pay very good money to be there and deserve to get a full and unhindered performance from all the bands. This was not the case last night.
"So with this rather bizarre end to a good tour we are returning to the U.K. today for the Leeds and Reading festivals and once again thanks to all of you who came out to see us these last few weeks."
Sharon Osbourne: Dickinson Tried To Ruin Ozzfest
Sharon Osbourne has issued the following statement via the official Ozzfest web site, Ozzfest.com:
"IRON MAIDEN were chosen for the Ozzfest tour because the Ozzfest committee felt they were a good band, plus the fact that they had not done shows in the U.S. for some time. From day one, Bruce Dickinson started berating Ozzy and belittling the Ozzfest audience. He stated he 'didn’t need a reality show to give him credibility'; 'We're not just some f*cking reunion band'; and continuously complained about the sound system, saying that when he comes back to America he'll have a better one. I understand he hasn't toured in the U.S.in these size venues in a while and no longer understands the political structure of things. Out of 200-plus bands over the last 10 years, he has been the only person who hasn't had the Ozzfest spirit. He thought he was at a battle of the bands, always making other comments about the other artists.
"Might I say, the rest of the band are gentlemen and have a great professional attitude. The crew are absolutely great. But how sad it was, after 10 years, that this little man tried to ruin it for everyone. The bands of Ozzfest don't even look at Ozzfest as touring, but as its heavy metal summer camp. Bruce is in fact a jealous prick and very envious. None of his tirades were directed at SABBATH, only Ozzy. Steve Harris [IRON MAIDEN's bassist] personally came to Ozzy in San Bernardino and apologized for Bruce's behavior this summer, stating that he and the rest of the band were 'embarrassed' by their own singer. It also offended me every night how he took out the English flag in America. There are American boys going to war alongside the English boys every day. How dare he forget the American troops on their home turf? He has had no respect for the American audience he has been playing for, stating in an interview, 'When you do the 'hits' tour here [in the U.S.], the audience is smug, and there's a sense of self-satisfaction, like, 'We got what we wanted…I'm looking at an audience that is self-satisfied and happy and fat, and getting what it wants and isn't prepared to get off its ass..'
"Before there was SAMSON, there was SABBATH!
"Ozzfest 2005 continues on with our summer of fun with the addition of VELVET REVOLVER. This is where the fun begins….."

Report
Ozzfest Report from July 24 in Bristow, VA
I attended Ozzfest 2005 on Sunday, July 24 in Bristow, Virginia’s Nissan Pavilion (my report is running late, as I’ve found myself overcommitted lately). This fest was the tenth annual Ozzfest, and not to be outdone by last year’s excellent lineup, this year they sported an equally as good lineup spanning more genres of metal than before. This year’s lineup also contained numerous headliner-quality bands on both stages including, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and of course Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath.
Had I known that both people I was supposed to go with would bail out, I would have lined up a photo pass for the whole show to give me something more to do. As it turned out, I pretty much just enjoyed the show and met up with As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis for an interview that we missed in Philadelphia, PA.
While this year’s lineup sported mostly bands I knew and had heard, most I was only vaguely familiar with, so pardon the lack of specific details such as song names, etc. in many cases. More...
