Multi-Platinum rockers, SLIPKNOT, are enjoying the spoils of their hard-won success. The band are still on the road and promoting their record that came out over a year ago while simultaneously readying a live album for release in October of 2005.

The band’s third album debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 on May 31, 2004 after its May 25th release. The album, entitled VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES), has been hanging in the Top 200 ever since that release, marking over one full year of chart success.

The album’s third single “Before I Forget” is the band’s third Top 10 rock single. The video for the track premiered on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball this weekend and it can also be seen on Fuse on Rockzilla, Metal Asylum, Uranium and Ovenfresh. This follows the success of the album’s previous hits – "Duality” and “Vermilion.”

October 2005 will see the release of the band’s first live album (title TBD). The album promises to convey the excitement of SLIPKNOT’s unparalleled live sets. In the spirit of this release, SLIPKNOT are due back in the USA in the fall of 2005 for another round of successful American touring. Dates are scheduled between 10/15 – 11/15 thus far.

SWEET, I hope that there are no previosly resleased live songs on the album. GEE let me guess why the LIVE release, BECAUSE THEY KEEP PUSHING BACK OTHER DATES SUCH AS THE NEW DVD, so they have to kinda make up for that .And I sure hope that they come back up here to Canada for there fall tour THIS YEAR!!!

The general tendency among music fans, particularly elitists, and especially classical music, punk and metal buffs.....is to downplay the skill of members of bands who are commercially successful. Like Slipknot, or Joey Jordison.

This is as old (and laughable) as music and art itself.

It comes down to a kind of disgust with "their bands" being relative unknowns who struggle, and bands like Slipknot winning accolades AND making bank from the money of "musically pedestrian commoners".

For instance:

I LOVE Strapping Young Lad, Opeth, Dillinger Escape Plan and Pig Destroyer.....

And it f***ing kills me that more people dont know and respect these bands but know bands like Korn and Disturbed who are good, but VERY average in skill....

Now I don't hate Korn or Disturbed, but it does suck that more people relate metal to Korn than to Opeth......

And while it doesnt cause me to lash out mindlessly, others can become pretty f***ing hostile about it.....So much so that they spend hours of their lifespan attacking the band and it's fans on sites like this.

which ofcourse is really funny......and kind of a little sad..... So it goes.

But Joey is talented and does deserve credit, even if the band he is in is a band that is despised by some memebers of the metal community. I myself enjoy Slipknot, and get annoyed sometimes when people give them absolutly no credit when it seems their reasoning is simply because they have success. I realize some people don't like slipknot for legit reasons, I just wish they would discuss that more rather than screaming "ThEy BloW Azz and R GaY".......

Although As soon as you hear some one else play or cover something like Pantera or Slipknot you realise how good the original really is... there is something so raw and and undefinable about their playing
