Tony Iommi: 'Dio Deserves A Bit More Credit...'
In a recent interview with Guitar World Magazine, BLACK SABBATH guitarist TONY IOMMI talked about the other legendary Sabbath frontman, RONNIE JAMES DIO, "(On the Dio albums) I'm really satisfied with them. No disrespect to OZZY, but I think it's a shame that they've been buried by all the Ozzy stuff. I think they're good albums, and I think Dio deserves a bit more credit than what he did get. He rarely gets mentioned when people talk about the band. Same with TONY MARTIN."
Iommi is currently working on another solo album and performing this summer at Ozzfest with original Sab members Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward.

"Carlos and I have been the best of friends for a VERY long time and the band sounds 100% again, Carlos is an amazing player and his insight and ability are gonna take SINGLE BULLET THEORY to new heights... I am really looking forward to getting back out on the road in late summer and push the hell out of "Behind Eyes of Hatred."
Statement On North Side Kings And Danzig Encoutner
Here is a statement is from North Side Kings frontman Danny Marianino regarding his recent confrontation with Glenn Danzig:
"Before crazy rumors begin to spread I would like to explain what happened:
North Side Kings were to play with Danzig last night in Tuba City, Arizona. To make a long story short the whole show was a disaster and a few bands got bumped off. Mr. Danzig (or his managment??) refused to push back the original scheduled time slot so North Side Kings and Rapid Fire would have to play "after" his set. Whatever - we agreed to play later because we drove 6 hours and didn't feel like going home without playing.
Needless to say, as soon as Danzig was finished, the venue turned on the lights and Danzigs crew and the staging company began to take the stage apart almost instantly. I confronted Mr. Danzig backsatge while he was signing autographs and told him I thought he was an asshole because of his "rockstar" attitude and no consideration twords the FEW other bands that got bumped off tonight. In a fit of rage he turned around and slammed me into the wall yelling "fuck you motherfucker" trying to be a big toughguy in front of his fans. I -in self defence punched him in the face knocking him out as he was attacking me again. He went down, bleeding from his mouth, eyes rolled back, and in shock that he got knocked to the floor so quickly.
A friend happened to tape the entire incident and this is all documented. Many witnesses saw him attack me, and I did what any man would do.
It was unfortunate that this went the way it did - and I hoped Glen Danzig learned a valuable lession tonight - Do not lay your hands on anyone unless you can handle what may happen.
I apologize for nothing, except for the poor little kids that had to witness this big asshole get his ass kicked in a matter of seconds..."

Brujeria Guitarist Hospitalized
BRUJERIA were forced to perform without founding member Dino Cazares (a.k.a. Asesino, ex-FEAR FACTORY) on Saturday (July 3) in McAllen, Texas after Cazares was bitten on his leg by a brown recluse spider, causing a massive infection several days prior to the gig. "I was hospitalized for two days with antibiotics being pumped through my veins and a fever of 103, I was having nightmares and hallucinating and my leg swelled up with blisters... I should be better in a few days", says Dino.
BRUJERIA will make a sixth attempt to play their first Los Angeles show ever on Wednesday, July 14 at The Key in Hollywood, Ca. The prior five attempts were shut down by everything from the local church groups to the chief of police, according to a statement from the band. Special guests at the show will be NME, DEMISE and ALL SHALL PERISH.
BRUJERIA bassist Hongo (a.k.a. Shane Embury, NAPALM DEATH) reportedly played guitar during the McAllen show, with Fantasma (additional vocals) taking over on bass.

Paradise Lost Singer Comments On Upcoming Album
PARADISE LOST are scheduled to finish recording the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2002's "Symbol of Life" on July 8 at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire, England. Mixing will take place in Los Angeles with vocalist Nick Holmes and producer Rhys Fulber and is expected to last two weeks. Commented Nick: "Recording has gone really well. [New drummer] Jeff [Singer, ex-BLAZE] has done great job and it is definitely going to be the heaviest album we have done in the last ten years."
As previously reported, Singer joined the group in May as a replacement for Lee Morris, who left the band in March due to "personal and musical differences." "Symbol Of Life", PARADISE LOST's ninth studio album, was produced by Fulber and was released in the U.S. through Koch Entertainment.
Kerry King Comments On New Slayer Material
SLAYER guitarist Kerry King recently spoke to Metal Edge magazine about the songwriting process for the group's long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "God Hates Us All"
"We've got twelve new songs, and we were playing before [drummer] Dave [Lombardo] went back out with FANTOMAS, minimal lyrics, but we got twelve songs that are 90 percent done. We just have to go in and record them. Then we come to find out that [American Records head honcho] Rick Rubin's deal is up again with Universal, and I will lay million-to-one odds he ain't there in two months. So for us to put out a record doesn't make sense right now, because if we put it out on Universal, they would have it for two months and they wouldn't promote it. Then, whichever company would pick it up wouldn't promote it, because it would have been out for two months, so it's just as well. But there might be another DVD with Dave on it, we are talking about that right now."
With regards to whether Dave had a say in the new material, Kerry said, "I mean, when [guitarist] Jeff [Hannemann] brings stuff in, they are on a drum machine, but I still record my riffs the way I did twenty years ago — I just put them on that same jam box, with a Radio Shack mic, because I am too lazy to get into the digital eight-track, and the drum machine. I know it's fun, I know it's easy, but I would rather take a tape down and say, 'Dave, here you go.' He is like, 'Really, I got an idea for that there.' I am like, 'Show me what you got.' I will turn him loose on it, because he might think of something I never did — he is the drummer. If it is just not floating, I will say, 'Well, this is what I had in mind, try this.' One or the other is going to be pretty kick-ass."
Asked what the major difference is between and Dave and former drummer Paul Bostaph's drumming styles, Kerry replied, "Dave definitely brings something else to the puzzle — the way he plays is more rootsy and organic, and he is the guy that could just get up in the morning and play anything. He doesn't have to work at it, he don't got to practice, he is a natural. So he brings things to the table that are so rudimentary, but so cool. You would never think of them because they are so simple. He will bring something up like, 'Why don't we do this?' I will be like, 'Damn, never thought of that…' He is more punky than Bostaph as well. Dave is big-time into the old Southern Cal punk, like all of us are, so it's just a different vibe. I mean, it was good, and 'God Hates Us All', with Bostaph, is probably Bostaph's crowning achievement. The next one, I think, is going to be like 'God Hates Us All', with a twist of 'Seasons [In the Abyss]' mixed in it, because Dave brings something else to the table. It is going to take awhile."

Drummer Nick Menza Rejoins Megadeth
Drummer Nick Menza has officially rejoined MEGADETH, according to Nick's posting on the MEGADETH web site. "Yes, it's time to rock the globe once again," he writes. "After getting my head on straight and mending things up with the General [Mustaine], I'm very happy and excited to be back! I 'm very grateful to all you droogies who supported my return. Thank you! You won't regret it.
"I am in the process of learning the new material. It totally jams! I am loving jammin' along with it. Can't wait to play it live. It's gonna crush! I don't have any favorite songs yet. I've only had the CD one week. I like them all."
MEGADETH's new album, "The System Has Failed", is scheduled for release on September 14 through Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded at Phase Four studios in Tempe, Arizona and features mainman Dave Mustaine alongside drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and bassist Jimmy Sloas. Additional lead guitar tracks were laid down by former MEGADETH guitarist Chris Poland.
