Full Ellefson vs Mustaine Complaint Online

BLABBERMOUTH.NET has posted a copy of the 38-page complaint filed by former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson against the group's leader, David Mustaine, alleging the singer shortchanged him on profits and backed out of a deal to turn Megadeth Inc. over to him when the band broke up in 2002. Ellefson also accuses Mustaine of locking him out of merchandise and publishing royalties. Ellefson is seeking $18.5 million from Mustaine, including $10 million in punitive damages stemming from Mustaine's "libelous statements" on MEGADETH's web site "falsely accusing" Ellefson of trying to "extort" Mustaine in order to appear on the new MEGADETH record. Metallica & Godsmack Tour #7 Most Successful

Metallica's tour with Godsmack grossed around $22 million in the first half of 2004 to land at No. 7 on the list of the 10 most successful tours so far this year, according to Billboard. Metallica might have grossed even more had they not taken several breaks from the road to spend time with their families.

The top earner was David Bowie, whose A Reality Tour grossed $45.4 million over 82 shows, according to MTV.com. Since the figures reflect shows between November 19, 2003, and May 18, 2004, Bowie's numbers were not affected by last month's cancellation of the last 10 days of his European tour.

Dave Grohl: New NIN Material "Sounds Incredible"

Former Nirvana drummer/current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has spoken to Billboard.com about his previously announced work on the upcoming Nine Inch Nails album, tentatively titled "Bleedthrough." Grohl said NIN leader Trent Reznor called to ask if he would play, and they went into Sound City Studio in Van Nuys, Ca., the next day. "It sounds incredible," Grohl said of the NIN material. "It is [Trent's] first [studio] album in five years. I looked at him and said, 'What have you been doing?'"

As previously reported, Reznor called his collaboration with Grohl "one of the most inspiring and exciting experiences I've had in the studio," adding that Grohl helped the tracks "come alive in a 'better-than-I'd-even-hoped-for' type way."

The follow-up to 1999's "The Fragile", "Bleedthrough" is scheduled for release early next year.

Danzig Named "Loser Of The Week"

The following is an excerpt from Muck Raker's "Losers of the Week" column in the Arizona Republic:

"On July 3, Tuba City became the site where the name of the former lead singer of The Misfits was officially synonymous with mud. After bumping several opening bands in order to play his set two hours earlier, Danny Marianino, lead singer of Arizona hardcore band the North Side Kings, had a word with Danzig about this slight, which turned into a word and a knockdown punch.

"Fortunately for Loser watchers, cameras were rolling and video of the six-second bout spread like wildfire through metal Web rings. The video, which lasts all of 20 seconds, shows Danzig with his bald spot facing the camera listening calmly to Marianino before shoving Marianino and being felled like a sack of Satan-worshipping potatoes.

"Normally, this bit of news would just peter out in the ether but since Danzig is such a renowned jerk, everyone has come out of the woodwork to dis him. Everything from humiliating PhotoShop doctored photos of Danzig and cutting remarks from martial artists who studied the video frame-by-frame since Danzig has said in interviews he trained under Jeet Kune Do master Jerry Poteet. 'Maybe Danzig only trains to defend against groupies?' snickered one post while another wondered more philosophically whether it was the fat guy or Danzig's ego that knocked him to the floor. Just when it looked like this story was dying down, Danzig announced that this will be his last tour. Final score: Ego 2, Danzig 0."

Kamelot Start Recording Next Album

Kamelot drummer Casey Grillo has entered the studio this week, kicking off the recording for the next album, according to the band's official website.

In addition, guitarist Thomas Youngblood posted this message:

"Hello All!

Sorry I have not been around to post anything lately, we have been very, very busy with the new album. Its going great and better than I expected. I am usually very critical at this point but the songs, the artwork, the story, everything is falling into place just right. Tomorrow I will go to see Casey in the studio in Tampa, a few miles from my home in Florida. We will go over the drums parts and take some photos for the site. As some of you know Casey is also a great engineer, he has his own studio and this makes things much easier for us. The sound is very fat and heavy. I will return to Germany in a few weeks for the final guitars, vocals and choir parts. Overall the production has a heavier sound along with the darker subject matter of the lyrics. I am loving it TBH. OK, keep up the good Karma amongst all of us. We need it in these troubled times!

Cheers - Thomas"
