Wolverine Writing New Material

Sweden's WOLVERINE have commenced the songwriting process for their next studio album, tentatively due next year through Elitist/Earache Records. "This time around we won't do a concept album," the band write on their web site. We hope to get together in a few weeks to continue our work."

WOLVERINE's latest album, "Cold Light Of Monday", was released late last year through Elitist/Earache. Download an MP3 of the track "New Best Friends" here.

Kittie Post New Video Online

KITTIE's video for their new single, "Into the Darkness", has been posted online at Launch.com.

The "Into the Darkness" clip was shot in late May with the husband-and-wife team of Greg Kaplan and Rafaela Monfradini (EVERY TIME I DIE, AVENGED SEVENFOLD). The song comes off KITTIE's third album, "Until The End", due on July 27 through Artemis Records.

The follow-up to 2001's "Oracle" was recorded during the month of March at Longview Farm Studios in Massachusetts and was produced by Steve Thompson (KORN, ANTHRAX). Six of the album's tracks were written prior to last summer's U.S. tour, allowing the band to try them out live as they trekked across the country. Joining the KITTIE lineup as the permanent second guitarist is Lisa Marx, formerly of the Seattle hardcore band TO SEE YOU BROKEN.

Alex Skolnick Performs With 30-Piece Orchestra

Former TESTAMENT/SAVATAGE guitarist Alex Skolnick recently took part in the premier of "Jekyll & Hyde: The Concert", featuring a 30-piece orchestra. " It was simultaneously one of my most challenging and most rewarding musical experiences," Alex said. "To play in such a situation requires a lot of focus and concentration. You have to give it all your energy but still not lose your place with the sheet music and with the conductor (make a mistake and it's VERY obvious!). But when it all comes together it's something else. The music covers a lot of territory, from suspense to cabaret to pop and driving rock. Some sections were like an electric guitar concerto. It was funny to think back to the very early days of TESTAMENT in those sweaty dive bars; I never could have imagined I'd one day be surrounded by strings, brass, woodwinds, classical percussion and a conductor. It was a thrill to work hands on with creator/composer Frank Wildhorn. For now it's looking like our next round of performances is the week of September 8th at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut (with an eight-piece ensemble) with more large orchestra performances as a future possibility. Even if you're not a Broadway fan, you'll probably enjoy this, as it's got a rock edge both in the story and the music (at one time Sebastian Bach was in the lead role). Check out this show if you can!"

Spiritual Beggars Work On New Album

Spiritual Beggars are entering Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden next week. They are working with producer Fredrik Nordström again (who produced the bands previous albums “Ad Astra" and “Mantra III").

Guitarist Michael Amott comments: “We have been working on this new music for over a year, on and off. We have got a great collection of songs that we think are of a slightly heavier and more intense direction than the songs on 'On Fire' (2002). The spirit of HEAVY rock is still alive and well in the camp here and it´s all smiles as we rehearse this stuff, we just know this is going to sound absolutely HUGE when we lay it down on Fredrik Nordströms Studer 2 tape machine!!!."
