Saint Vitus 'V' To Be Reissued By Southern Lord

Southern Lord Records will shortly be re-releasing the classic Saint Vitus album 'V'. The album "features the classic doom anthem: 'I Bleed Black' and the mid-tempo stomp of the often-covered 'Angry Man'," according to an official Southern Lord press release. "The production is raw, pure and primitive, the dying embodiment of DOOM.

"Besides the classic album we have added a bonus video of Wino's very first show with VITUS! It's not just one song it's the entire show!! The LP version packaging is stunning and adheres to the strict vinyl-quality Southern Lord releases are known for. It is limited to 1,000 copies. This new and doomed version of 'V' is an essential chapter in metal history."

A Perfect Circle New Album Update

Perhaps seeking to address the rumors of a new A Perfect Circle album surfacing this November, which have been moving around the Internet at a rapid rate since we first made the suggestion early this month, the band's frontman Maynard James Keenan made an announcement on stage at last night's "Axis Of Justice" event in Hollywood, California with regards to the outing. He said that A Perfect Circle are in the process of recording a collection of political songs, which they hope to release by November this year.

In related news, the group's former bass player Paz Lenchantin will be contributing to the album by recording both violin and piano parts, although she will not be returning as a full time member (read more about this at simplypaz.com). As previously reported, there is a tentative release date of November 16th through Virgin for the album, and this is also the date that the band's live DVD and remix album are currently expected out in stores.

Trivium Named Best Metal Act Of 2004

In Orlando Weekly's "Best of Orlando 2004 Edition," this publication features "Best of 2004" ranging from Sports & Recreation, Local Color, Goods & Services, Food & Drink and Arts & Entertainment around Florida. That being said, someone today stumbled upon the following piece on new RR act Trivium, rated Best Metal Act in this "Best Of 2004" piece. What was written about Trivium? Read below:

"They released a great record - "Ember to Inferno" - late last year on a German label, and then, within the space of a few months, found themselves booked on tours with the likes of Iced Earth and Chimaira and ended up signed to Roadrunner Records. Like, that's a big deal. And, unlike some of Orlando's other nationally known 'heavy' bands, the gut-punching power metal that Trivium delivers is something to be proud of, as their combination of metal's heavy history and abundant technical proficiency results in something truly forward-looking and strong. Goes to show what happens when a band sets out to be 'good' rather than 'famous.'"

Ted Nugent To Run For U.S. Senate?

Controversial rocker, outspoken conservative and gun-rights activist Ted Nugent is being mentioned as a possible candidate for the U.S. Senate representing the Illinois Republican Party.

"He grew up in Arlington Heights. He went to St. Viator High School," said Cook County Republican Chair Gary Skoien, according to the Internet Broadcasting Systems. "He has more connection to Illinois than Hillary Clinton had to New York, and he's been a very articulate spokesperson on constitutional issues. He would be a very interesting candidate."

The original candidate, Jack Ryan, left the race after allegations surfaced that he forced his former wife to go to sex clubs.

Nugent has yet to issue an official comment on the report.
