Adema Signs To Earache
The official press release regarding ADEMA signing to Earache Records has been put up on the labels official site - It reads as follows:
"Hailing from Bakersfield, California, Adema exploded onto the Modern Rock scene in 2001 with the release of their self-titled debut on Arista Records. The first two singles, "Giving In" and "The Way You Like It", were Modern Rock radio hits that pushed Adema to near-platinum sales status. The Bakersfield quintet's instantaneous fan base was cemented by an almost unheard-of coup - landing on the main stage of the 2001-2 Ozzfest merely on the strength of their first cd. Adema stayed on the road for more than a year, touring with the likes of Linkin Park, Drowning Pool, and Disturbed. A review of Adema's debut in London's prestigious NME raved: "Adema's visceral, artfully succinct rock punch comes brilliantly wrapped in killer whistleable tunes." Rolling Stone wrote: "Moody, hard and melodic, a creative palette of soaring solos, singing lines and textures."More...

Lacuna Coil's Comalies Enters Billboard 200
After 92 weeks, Comalies , the acclaimed third album from Italian sextet Lacuna Coil – a group that Reuters news service recently declared to be “on the verge of a major breakthrough” – has cracked the Billboard 200, the magazine’s weekly tally of the country’s top-selling albums.
Originally released on October 29, 2002 , Comalies – which shattered the 100,000 sales mark two weeks ago – achieved its best weekly sales mark to date from July 19-25, logging 5,818 copies sold, according to SoundScan. The album – #194 on this week’s chart – has sold more than 17,000 copies in the last month alone, and marks the first-ever Billboard 200 appearance in the history of the group’s label, the Los Angeles-based independent Century Media Records.
“It’s a testament to our philosophy of believing in a band and working them from the ground up,” says Phil Hinkle, Century Media’s director of A&R. “In an era where artist development seems to be an afterthought, it’s exciting to be a part of such a natural, organic success story.”
In large part, Comalies ’ robust sales can be attributed to Lacuna Coil’s Ozzfest performances. Of all second-stage acts, the group is being outsold by only Slipknot and Atreyu, both of which have released new albums within the last two months. In addition, current single “Swamped” is enjoying heavy commercial radio airplay nationwide – the track is #40 on this week’s R&R Active Rock chart – as well as steady video play on both MTV2 and Fuse. The song will be included on the soundtrack to the upcoming Sony Pictures film Resident Evil: Apocalypse and featured in the forthcoming Activision video game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines .
Aside from Ozzfest, Lacuna Coil will be playing select “off-fest” shows throughout August. That month, the group will also deliver three acoustic in-store performances at select Borders Music locations. A new album will surface in 2005.

God Forbid Checks In With Ozzfest Report
New Jersey metal titans God Forbid are currently annihilating audiences on Ozzfest, continuing their touring onslaught in support of their latest release Gone Forever. Doc (guitars, vocals) checks in with the following update from the road:
“What's up everyone. Doc here checking in from Ozzfest 2004. It's been a little over a week since I last gave an update, but it's been a very busy first couple weeks. Today is our first day off since July 10th. God Forbid has one of the busiest off date schedules of any Ozzfest band, but I'm still going to try and give as many updates as possible. We are having the time of our lives and are maybe partying a little too hard thanks to our friends at Jager doing their best to get us drunk by noon. I'll do a little backtracking: More...
Megadeth Announces Album Release Date
In early 2002, Dave Mustaine suffered a debilitating nerve injury to his arm (literally after sleeping on it the wrong way), bringing his career -- and the nearly 20-year history of his band, Megadeth -- to a crashing halt. His prospects for playing guitar again uncertain, Mustaine retreated into seclusion, effectively ending the band and leaving behind a ten-album legacy as one of metal's most important, innovative, and intelligent acts. But the story did not end there, and it seemed undeniable that the long, colorful, and dynamic history of such a relentless and groundbreaking act could be curtailed so abruptly.
Now in 2004, "The System Has Failed," the tenth studio album released under the Megadeth banner, is set for release September 14 on Sanctuary Records. The forthcoming first single "Die Dead Enough” features a stalking rhythm and urgent riff alongside an infectious chorus and a taste of strings adding texture and depth. Look for Megadeth -- with returning drummer Nick Menza--to tour this fall in support of the album (dates TBA) as well as their soon-to-be-reissued catalog of platinum and gold albums (due August 3 on Capitol Records), which has been impressively remixed, remastered, restored -- and in some cases reconstructed -- by founder, singer, guitarist and primary songwriter Dave Mustaine to bring it as close to his original vision as possible. Linkin Park Frontman Unimpressed With Ozzfest
Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington tells Launch Radio Networks he's not surprised that their Projekt Revolution festival tour is scoring better advance sales than Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest in almost every market this summer, and that he's not particularly impressed with Ozzfest's lineup this year. "It's just too much of the same thing," Chester complained. "Usually, Ozzfest is pretty diverse, especially with metal, 'cause metal is so wide-ranged, like you could pretty much go all over the spectrum with a metal show. But even their bands are kind of all along the same super-metal genre, and you're gonna draw a very pigeonholed kind of audience with those kinds of lineups."
Iced Earth - The Blessed And The Damned
As reported here in May, Century Media is releasing a 2CD best of collection from Iced Earth called The Blessed And The Damned on August 10th in North America. The collection is out now in Europe. The album features 23 remastered tracks (over two hours of material) with two different album covers. The Blessed And The Damned contains a 20-page deluxe booklet that includes lyrics and extensive biographical liner notes by Dreams Of Damnation singer/former Century Media publicist Loana dP Valencia . Detailed herein is an introduction to where Jon Shaffer and Iced Earth are today by taking a look back at where they have been: Jon’s early days beginning with Black Sabbath and Kiss records at age four, his decision to dedicate his life to music, his first guitar, his move to Tampa, Florida at age 16, the first incarnation of Iced Earth and how they overcame obstacles, failures and successes. Each album is discussed in detail including what at the time was happening to the band and includes commentary from mastermind Jon Schaffer.
Loana dP Valencia taken from The Blessed And The Damned booklet: “A musician’s autobiography is his music – everything else is only a footnote… Throughout the course of nine albums and one EP, Jon Schaffer has offered us – his fans – interpretations of the truths in his own life. In this compilation, each song leads you through his understanding of his [Jon Schaffer’s] struggles, disappointments, joys and his triumphs.”

Icon & The Black Roses Showcase
I should start by saying that I went to this showcase with high expectations; I liked their debut album (although I do not think it’s a master piece it is still a good debut album), and above all I love their attitude, their strength.
And so with this in mind I dragged my tired body (I had awakened at 5 a.m. to go to work and I was feeling like sh#t) to Lisbon’s Fnac mega store at Colombo shopping mall at around 8 p.m. More...

Dimmu Borgir Report - July 26 in Vancouver, BC
One of the disadvantages of living in Vancouver is that we get snubbed by Ozzfest every year. The good thing is that Ozzfest comes close enough (Auburn, WA) for some of the bands on the bill to perform here on one of their Off-fest dates. Three of such bands happened to be God Forbid, Otep, and Norway's Dimmu Borgir this year. More...
