New Jersey metal titans God Forbid are currently annihilating audiences on Ozzfest, continuing their touring onslaught in support of their latest release Gone Forever. Doc (guitars, vocals) checks in with the following update from the road:
“What's up everyone. Doc here checking in from Ozzfest 2004. It's been a little over a week since I last gave an update, but it's been a very busy first couple weeks. Today is our first day off since July 10th. God Forbid has one of the busiest off date schedules of any Ozzfest band, but I'm still going to try and give as many updates as possible. We are having the time of our lives and are maybe partying a little too hard thanks to our friends at Jager doing their best to get us drunk by noon. I'll do a little backtracking:
7/16 Holmdel, NJ Ozzfest- This was our first Jersey show since the Headbangers Ball tour in December. It was great to be home, and the crowd definitely showed us love. This was one of the most fun shows I've ever had, and it was a dream come true because this was the place I'd go to see Ozzfest in the past. It was a trip. My dad got to see us play for the first time in a year. We had a great 12:30PM slot, but it didn't matter because Jersey showed up early for this one. Amazing crowd for all the bands!
7/17 Glen Falls, NY Aggressive Fest- This was the first day of an amazing festival put together by Jamey Hatebreed and Ted Etoll. Big thanks to those guys because our day featured Hatebreed, Slayer, and Slipknot. Although we had some technical issues with the moniters, the crowd went totally apeshit. Arena metal is a good thing. Albany area has been been great to God Forbid as of late. Thanks to all involved and in attendance.
7/18 Bristow, VA Ozzfest- This was another extremely fun show. The first show that featured a God Forbid chant before our set. Props to the south. The Shirtless Crew was also in effect making sure all shirts were off by at least one member of every band. I even joined the crew late that evening, even though I missed the trek to the main stage. They got Ozzy and even alot of the crowd to do the "olay" chant. Pure brilliance. We are all also pulling together to bail Keith from ETID out of jail. Send all donations to www.shittydudes.com.
7/19 Huntington, WV - This was an off-day with Hatebreed, Devildriver, and Throwdown. It was a lot of fun to play a packed, sweaty little club in contrast to the Ozzfest shows. Definitely feels like home. West Virginia went nuts for us. Good Shit!
7/20 Columbus, OH Ozzfest - Good ol' Columbus has always treated God Forbid like home. We played right before Lamb of God in the 2PM slot, and it was fun as hell show. Props to the Chimaira guys and Howard from Killswitch for coming out. Today was an especially insane day at the Jagermeister tent. They gave us about 5 double shots in a half an hour, and I was all done. All I know is I ended up throwing cardboard boxes at Hatebreed and Beatie threw a chair at me. Sorry guys. I was having to much fun, but I have a couple scabs and bruises to remind me. Oh yeah, Shirtless Crew got snubbed and almost arrested today. We will return.
7/22 Nashville, TN Ozzfest - We received the most coveted 9:30AM slot this day, but it was actually great. Some big pits and really enthusiastic overall response. We've only played Nashville once, so it was a nice surprise.
Anyway, we're having a blast out here. Much thanks to Everytime I Die for switching slots with us in Jones Beach. We were running late, and without their help, we would not have played. Check out the new site www.godforbid1.com. We are also doing a weekend of headlining shows in late September with Norma Jean, Red Chord, and A Life Once Lost. New Jersey Ferret Music legends For the Love of... will be reuniting for the New Jersey show as well as their much talked about Hellfest appearance. Here are the dates:
9/23 - Providence, RI @ The Living Room
9/24 - Sayreville, NJ @ Starland Ballroom w/ For the Love of...
9/25 - Poughkeepsie, NY @ the Chance
9/26 - Springfield, MA @ Fat Cats
See you all soon.”
