Cradle of Filth Postpone Date

Last night's Cradle of Filth headlining Off-Fest show in Tulsa, OK at The Other Side was postponed due to drummer Adrian suffering an injury of some sorts.

There's no word as to what injury the skinsman is facing, but it was enough to put off their show that was between last Friday's Ozzfest in Detroit, Michigan, and Tuesdays upcoming Off-fest date at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, MI.

According to source Nick Upton, the venue is supposed to be rescheduling the show, but sounded very unsure when pressed on the matter and didn't know if Killswitch Engage would be supporting the possible new date. More on this as it comes through.

Kataklysm To Film Video in Las Vegas

Canadian death metallers Kataklysm have hired L.A. director Joe Lynch to film the video for the band's new single, "As I Slither". The shoot will take place on August 31 at the Huntridge Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the band will perform as part of the Las Vegas Metalfest.

Lynch had the following to say about his collaboration with Kataklysm:

"Let's face it: Kataklysm are brutal and talented musicians, and it's an honor to work with a band who still pursues the fundamentals of what makes powerful metal, and I mean like 'balls out, 150% proof, freak your momma' type metal here, folks. All I wanna do with this video is capture their intense performance in the middle of Hades… er, Vegas, which should prove to be an interesting backdrop. I'll tell you this, I'm excited as hell to shoot the shit outta these guys...and just a little scared, which to me is a good thing for metal, and hopefully that will translate onto this clip." Iron Butterfly Guitarist Erik Braunn Dies At 52

Erik Braunn, the lead guitarist on IRON BUTTERFLY's classic heavy metal anthem of 1968 "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", died of cardiac arrest Friday in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Times. He was 52.

Braunn, considered a violin prodigy, began his musical career at age 4. He was born in Pekin, Ill., but raised in Los Angeles. He was 16 when he joined IRON BUTTERFLY and spent 1967-69 on tour with the band. The teenager said he had not been prepared for the frenetic pace of working 365 days a year in such venues as the Hollywood Bowl.

Braunn and colleagues Doug Ingle, Ron Bushy and Lee Dorman, left their mark on musical history with the 17-minute "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" (later covered by SLAYER on the "Less Than Zero" soundtrack). The album went platinum and stayed on the national sales chart 2½ years, and a three-minute version also became a Top 40 radio hit.

Braunn occasionally reunited with his BUTTERFLY partners for performances, and worked as a songwriter, musician and producer until his death. During one such reunion in 1988, he spoke to The Times about his whirlwind superstardom experience 20 years earlier, saying: "My first vacation I bought a car — a Jaguar — and parked it outside the hospital where I spent two weeks for ulcers and gastroenteritis."
