The Chasm Inks Deal with Earache
Mexico's The Chasm has inked a deal with Earache Records. Here's the announcement from the band:
"We are very proud to announce that after several years of struggling and some bad experiences on the record deal territory, somebody finally had the guts to step up and get us a professional and serious deal. The Chasm has exclusively been signed to legendary/long time running UK Based Label Earache Records for the release of the upcoming 7th assault in our cursed odyssey. With this deal inked we finally finished an era of uncertainty about the future of new albums being released, and it definitely takes a big weight off of our shoulders, meaning that the focus in only creating music will be much more accomplished. We can only expect a very serious and dedicated relationship from this deal, and it will definitely provide The Chasm with a very strong attitude and support. More...

Katatonia Forced to Cancel All European Fests
Sweden's Katatonia have cancelled all of their previously announced European festival appearances dues to circumstances "beyond [their] control."
The following is the group's official statement on the matter:
"It is with great regret we must announce that the coming summer festivals Katatonia had every intention of playing, have been confirmed cancelled by the organizers. These festival opportunities have been pulled from beneath the band by a third party and Katatonia had nothing to do with these decisions. This third party (that are NO longer working nor representing the band in any way) has given out false information such as 'internal band problems' etc, that apparently should have been reasons for Katatonia not participating in any of the festivals. That is simply NOT true. The band members themselves were all recovering and enjoying their private holidays when they were informed about the situation yesterday and sincerely apologize to everyone who planned on coming to see them this summer, and hope to see you at another time in the short future. Thank you for your understanding."

An animated video will be done for one of the tracks off the forthcoming album.
The follow-up to 2002's "Souls Highway" will be Beseech's first effort since the departure of longtime guitarist Klas Bohlin.

Labrat Replace Vocalist
British grinders Labrat have parted ways with both vocalists Jamie Farrell and Martin Ives after one year, and have welcomed original vocalist Rob McAuslan back into the fold.
"The decision to let Ives and Farrell go was made just before the band set off on a UK tour with Mastodon," stated Labrat in a band-issued press statement. "We felt that although the two undoubtedly did a great job during their time in the band, certain problems were starting to manifest themselves which led to the decision to let them go. Green Talks About Sepultura's Split w/ Roadrunner
Australia's Beat magazine spoke with Derrick Green of Spultura about their new album 'Roorback', the first disc since leaving Roadrunner Records to move to S.P.V. "The contract with R.R. was pretty much up," Green said. "We had an option to do one more album, and we decided that we didn’t want to stay there any longer. It was a relationship that was way too long, and it was time for us to really move on. When Max split from Sepultura and R.R. signed his new band Soulfly, we found it was not only hard working with R.R., but we also saw it as conflict of interest. There was a lot of tension, and we weren’t really happy with the way Nation was promoted. It stopped a couple of months after it came out."
