Richard Christy Wins Howard Stern Show Spot
Richard Christy was announced the winner of the contest to replace Stuttering John on the Howard Stern show and will soon begin a three-month tenure as a staff member on the show. Christy left Iced Earth amidst touring a couple months ago so that he could audition for the part on the Stern show.
UPDATE: Richard Christy has issued an open letter about winning Stuttering John's job. Apparently he received 31 percent of the votes on the "Get John's Job!" voting web site, and Christy spent all of last week on the show and was considered a favorite to land the gig from the very beginning. Christy's letter reads as follows:
"Richard (Hey KC) Christy here, it definitely still hasn't sunk in that I actually won John's job! Winning today was a very surreal feeling, but then getting hammered by the other contestants quickly brought me back down to earth! Today was truly a dream come true for me and I was honored to stand next to all of the talented people who were finalists in the 'Get John's Job' contest. I would like to thank Howard and the gang for the opportunity to compete in this audition. I would like to thank my family, friends, all the Howard Stern fans, and all of my fellow 'metal heads' for voting for me! I would also like to thank my friends Tom and Omar for letting me stay with them while I've been in New York the past two weeks. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am about the opportunity to contribute to the show! I have notebooks and hard drives full of ideas that I can't wait to present to Howard! It was also hilarious seeing Chaunce in a dress, but it was disturbing when he showed everyone his 'man worm' in the greenroom. It was also great when Sal rubbed Chaunce's hat in the crack of his ass, and then Yucko dipped his hairy walnuts into it! I also loved when Jeff the Drunk called in and was pissed at me! I wasn't feeling the drunken love from him this morning and I really hope that he doesn't speak for all drunks! Well, I'm not sure what more I can say about how excited I am! I love New York and I love 'The Howard Stern Show' and I am honored that I won the greatest job that I could ever dream of having! Thank You!"
Rise From Ruin Goes On Hiatus
After tonight's performance, Rise from Ruin will go on hiatus, as the lead singer of the inspiration heavy metal band has been called to active National Guard duty in Afghanistan. Jay Lakin, Marion, leaves next week.
As fledgling bands go, the absence of one member doesn't necessarily signal the end of the group, but drummer Ian Kaehr, LaFontaine, said the band will wait for Lakin to complete his service, which is expected to last more than a year, before the band takes to the stage again.
"When he first told us, it was really a big shock," Kaehr said. "We're going to wait on him. He wanted us to write some more songs."
While Lakin is away, the band will work on writing music and recording soundtracks so that when Lakin returns, he can add his voice to the band's music.
The four-member band has been together for six months. Marion guitarist Yog, (a name given to him by his grandmother) and bass player, David LaRoux, Marion, have been in the band since 2001. Kaehr joined the group a few years later.

Requiem Aeternam Complete New Album
Melodic black metal band REQUIEM AETERNAM, originally from Uruguay but currently based in New York, have completed work on their new album, "Philosopher".
"The recording quality, the sound as well as the performance, is a testament as to how far REQUIEM AETERNAM has moved on since the days of [1998's] 'Eternally Dying'," the band write on their web site. "The sound achieved at Big Blue Meenie might be compared with the most reputable studios of the moment. The musical performance accomplished is highly remarkable, especially Alex's [Hernández, IMMOLATION] work on drums. Mastering will be the last step of the process. This will take place next weekend at Bionic Mastering Studios in New York City... a place where artists like Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters or Cro-Mags have worked. Finally it was decided to record only eight tracks instead of ten as it was planned in the beginning."
Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Rectitude", "Wisdom", "Liberty", "Logos", "Antichrist", "Desperation" and "Philosopher".

Krokus Celebrate 25 Years
Swiss heavy metal favorites Krokus will celebrate 25 years of great music this summer with the return of vocalist Mark Storace and guitarist Fernando Von Arb, and the release of not one, but two new albums. Reality Entertainment is releasing a double live album, Fire and Gasoline on June 29th, followed by a new studio album, Rock The Block on July 27th. Both albums have already been released in Europe where Rock The Block immediately hit the number one spot in the band's native Switzerland among great charts performances in other territories.
Krokus have sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, the bulk of those recordings being sold in the U.S. The re-formation of the band's most successful core, Storace and von Arb also includes Patrick Aeby (drums), Dominique Favez (guitar) and Tony Castell (bass) and promises to be a special treat for longtime fans of this legendary band.
Cradle Of Filth Prepare To Film New Video
CRADLE OF FILTH will film a video for an as-yet-undisclosed track off their upcoming Roadrunner Records debut, "Nymphetamine", in early August in either Los Angeles or the U.K.
The follow-up to last year's "Damnation and a Day", "Nymphetamine" (roughly translated as the druggish beast-like addiction to beautiful, classical women) was produced by ANTHRAX guitarist Rob Caggiano, who has previously worked with the group during the mixing stage for "Damnation…".
CRADLE OF FILTH bassist David Pybus had previously described the new material as an "eclectic mix between the group's 'Damnation..' and [1998's] 'Cruelty and the Beast' albums with a renewed vigor for melody, songmanship and plain fucking weirdness spat into the smelting bowl."
Novembers Doom Sign With The End Records
Acclaimed Chicago doomsters NOVEMBERS DOOM have signed a wordwide deal with The End Records. The group's first release for the label will be a re-issue of the last full-length effort, "To Welcome the Fade". It will contain a bonus CD with unreleased material such as live songs from the band's tour with THE GATHERING, the entire and long out-of-print EP "For Every Leaf That Falls", as well as some other possible surprises. Look for it in stores everywhere this October.
NOVEMBERS DOOM have completed the songwriting process for their fifth full-length CD and will enter the studio in October to begin recording the effort for an early 2005 release. The early plan is to once again utilize the talents of Grammy-winning producer Neil Kernon (Cannibal Corpse, Nevermore, Deicide) for the final mixdown. Entitled "The Pale Haunt Departure", the CD will contain eight songs and will include close to an hour of music.
