Arch Enemy Guitarist Comments On Solo For Kreator

ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott has commented on his guest appearance on the new KREATOR album. Amott has recorded a solo for the song "Murder Fantasies", to be included on KREATOR's upcoming CD, tentatively due in January 2005 through SPV Records.

Says Amott: "This is something I was really happy to do. I get offered to guest on things once in a while, and sometimes I feel right about doing it — this was one of those times for sure! I mean, c'mon…it's fucking KREATOR! I remember hearing the 'Pleasure To Kill' album back in the day and my jaw dropping — the bar had been raised in extreme metal…that was cool as hell! From what I could tell, this song that I played one was a very intense thrash metal song with some MAIDEN-esque harmonies in the middle section — definitely worth checking out!"

KREATOR's as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2001's "Violent Revolution" was recorded and mixed at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England with producer Andy Sneap. A specially priced four-song EP will precede the album later this year, featuring previously unreleased live material and non album tracks. Artwork duties will be handled by Austrian artist Jochim Luetke.

Mark Cross Joins Winters Bane

World-class player Mark Cross (ex-Helloween, Metalium) is the new drummer for Winters Bane, and will be performing on the band's upcoming album, to be released later this year. Mark's stellar drumming will add a new dimension to the Winters Bane sound, propelling their new songs to greater heights.

With Mark Cross and vocalist Alexander Koch (ex-Powergod) joining founding members Lou St. Paul (guitars) and Dennis Hayes (bass), Winters Bane's strongest lineup is now in place. The band is very confident that their new album will surpass the material on their classic "Heart Of A Killer" opus, which featured Tim Owens (ex-Judas Priest, Iced Earth) on vocals.

Orphaned Land Report On Festival Performance

Israel’s leading metal band Orphaned Land, performed live at the Rock The Nations Open Air Festival in Istanbul, Turkey over the weekend. An amalgamation of cultures and traditions, this was the ideal setting for the band’s live performance. Their new release from Century Media Records, Mabool, combines histories and teachings from the three monotheistic religions that at once divide and unite the Middle East.

Vocalist Kobi Farhi reports: “We got back yesterday from this historic festival and our performance was unbelievable - one of the best of our lives!!! The crowd knew our songs and the whole place was singing (more than 5,000 people!!). They even sang in Hebrew! We also did a song in Turkish and the place freaked out. We co-headlined the first day alongside Pain Of Salvation. Turkey is a great home for Orphaned Land, as the border of east and west. Try to imagine it yourself: the sad reality of the Middle East, and then there is a concert where people from Turkey, Israel, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia all sing together the songs from the same band. It’s amazing! I’m speechless!”
