Daylight Dies Post Behind-The-Scenes Video Online
DAYLIGHT DIES drummer Jesse Haff has issued the following update:
"We spent a scorching hot and humid weekend filming the video for 'Lies that Bind' recently in abandoned building complex a few hours from here. The filming included playing inside a filthy and decaying room, entire walls on fire and lasted until 1 or 2 in the morning, where we played outdoors on a wrickety wooden platform above an old salt mine. The narrative segments of the video were filmed the following day. We've recently seen a very short rough clip of the video and are all blown away by what director Ramon Boutviseth is bringing to life. The amount of work that has gone into this is far beyond what anyone initially imagined and by all early accounts will yield something very special. A short 'behind-the-scenes' video is available for your viewing on YouTube and will be added to the site in near future. Please note it doesn't contain any footage from the actual video and only contains footage from the first day of filming." More...

Ozzy's Country Mansion Catches Fire
The Associated Press reports that Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's country mansion in Jordans, 26 miles west of London, caught fire on Thursday morning as the result of a faulty lamp according to the fire service.
Neither Ozzy, Sharon nor their children Amy, Jack and Kelly were at the house when the blaze occurred, a family spokesman said. Paramedics treated a member of the household staff for smoke inhalation.
The Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue service responded to the blaze at 7:25 a.m., after the family's alarm system alerted them, spokesman Fraser Pearson said. "We were able to prevent the fire from spreading," Pearson said. "It was relatively small." The fire caused minor fire and smoke damage to the entrance hallway of the mansion.
The fire service plans to try to meet with the Osbournes to advise them on fire safety, Pearson said.

Zaraza Call It Quits
Canadian industrial doom/death metal outfit ZARAZA has decided to disband after 13 years. The group's mainman, Jacek, has issued the following statement on the matter:
"With a mixture of regret and at the same time relief, I have decided that the time of ZARAZA has come to an end. There are many reasons for this, both personal and musical. We have always promised nothing less than the best from us and right now that is simply not possible.
"We leave you with two fine albums, of which we are very proud. We hope they have provided you many hours of sonic explorations and doom enjoyment over the years and will continue to do so in the future. Thanks to all the 'zines, websites (in particular Doom-Metal.com) and above all the fans from all over the world who have kept us going for this long
"Before we leave for good, we have one final gift for you, two demo recordings of covers of SWANS ('Half-Life') and DANZIG ('Pain in the World') which you can download from our website at this location.
"Goodbye and good luck to each and every one of you. It has been our pleasure to become a part of your music collection."
Disturbed Post 'Land Of Confusion' Video Online
The video for DISTURBED's cover of the GENESIS hit "Land Of Confusion", directed by renowned comic artist Todd McFarlane, has been posted online at Music.AOL.com. The memorable GENESIS clip used eerie puppets to poke fun at figures such as Ronald Reagan, and DISTURBED singer David Draiman told Launch that the song's political content made a new version timely. "I think that that was part of the impetus of recording it," he said. "Danny (Donegan, guitarist) actually came up with the idea of trying it. I wasn't really all for it in the beginning. I'm not a huge PHIL COLLINS fan. But I couldn't deny that the lyrical content of the song made sense and definitely fit the type of lyrical directions that I go in."

Shadowdance Issue Recording Update
Philly metal band, Shadowdance, issue an update on their myspace page regarding the progress of their recording endeavors:
"Greetings everyone!
There was a bit of delay with the start of the guitar tracking as we were waiting on the arrival of a little magic box but as of last night work has begun. No estimate yet on how long it will take as the plan is to throw down 4 tracks of rhythm guitars for each song and given the difficult nature of the tunes, the playing must be absolutely precise to maintain the clarity we strive for. Of couse this doesn't even include the additional layers of harmonized melody guitars, clean sections and leads...just the basic rhythm sections but each track will be recorded individually so it is a time consuming process. More updates will be posted as the guitar work progresses.....keep checkin back!
Cheers to all!
SHADOWDANCE"

The band's second major label offering, "The Open Door" will follow up 2003's six-million-selling "Fallen". When asked to describe the sound of the new disc, singer Amy Lee told Launch it was hard to explain. "It's different than the last album, but it's still EVANESCENCE," she said. "I think the fans are really gonna love it. I'm a fan, I love this band, I wouldn't be doing it if I wouldn't love it, and I love it, so I guess that's sort of my gauge for everything. But it's different, it's kind of fun and sexy, but it's still, like, dark and, like, really epic at times."
"I think if people expect this album is going to be softer and more feminine and more wimpy, they're going to be surprised," Lee told JAM! Music. "It's not an album full of 'My Immortal'-like songs. Every song is completely different and I feel like at times it definitely goes heavier than we had the capacity to do before. But in a way that's still new and fun and unique and not trying to be like anything else that's out there." More...

"Korn Karaoke" OK With Jonathan Davis
Launch Radio Networks reports: When KORN singer Jonathan Davis was hospitalized in London last month with a rare blood disorder, the rest of his band still played at England's Download Festival, performing a 30-minute set with guest frontmen from 10 YEARS, SLIPKNOT, AVENGED SEVENFOLD and others. Davis told Launch that he couldn't have been more grateful to everyone involved. "I was very thankful that they did that and it was overwhelming to get, you know, that respect, to have those guys go up and do that, and then that the crowd responded to it well," he said. "You know, all we wanted to do was try and play some kind of show for those fans that paid to come see us. I know I wasn't there, but we tried to do what we could do, and I think it worked out great. Everybody did their best to pull off what I do, so I was stoked."
The singer added that he thought Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR did the best job.
Davis is currently recovering at home in Los Angeles from the infection, called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), which sent his blood platelet count plummeting to dangerously low levels.
KORN will be joined by DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, 10 YEARS and other acts on the Family Values tour, which begins on July 27 in Virginia Beach.
Ozzy Doesn't Rule Out Black Sabbath Activity
Ozzy Osbourne recently spoke to Paul Saitowitz of The Press-Enterprise about his participation in the 11th rendition of Ozzfest, the traveling metal circus helmed by his wife, Sharon. And though this is the first time he will not be included on all dates, hanging it up is the furthest thing from his mind.
"No way, man, this is not a retirement thing at all," Osbourne said over the phone minutes before joining his band for a pre-festival rehearsal. "I've never really taken time off before, and touring in the summer gives me trouble with allergies, so I thought I'd relax a bit."
Instead of making fans wait 12 hours to catch him at the end of the night, this time around the "Prince of Darkness" will take the stage by day. He'll be out there with the sweaty, tattooed, screaming metal-core outfits — ATREYU, UNEARTH — playing on the second stage before the sun goes down.
"It's going to be crazy but that's what I'm all about, brother," Osbourne said. "I want to give people the chance to see me and my band up close ... the crazier the better, as long as no one gets hurt and people behave themselves."
According to Ozzy, Ozzfest fans will see a lot of his classic solo material and sadly just one BLACK SABBATH effort. Osbourne fronted BLACK SABBATH from its inception until he left to go solo in 1979, then reunited with them in the early '90s. The group has headlined three Ozzfests.
"I'm only playing one SABBATH song and I'm not saying what it is, but I'm also not saying that you've seen the last of SABBATH," he said. "We may get together again, but for now it's the solo stuff, which is a completely different animal."

All That Remains Frontman Checks In From Ozzfest
ALL THAT REMAINS singer Phil Labonte checked in from this year's Ozzfest tour, where the band are performing on the second stage all summer long.
Said Labonte: "So yesterday was our first Ozzfest show. It seemed to me that Washington has more than a few ATR fans and they were out early and in force yesterday!!! What a great time! We have a few bugs to work out, but if the first show is any sign of what we can expect from Ozzfest crowds, it's gonna be an amazing summer!! With the release date for [the new ALL THAT REMAINS album] 'The Fall of Ideals' just over a week away, people are already hollering to hear 'This Calling', which is humbling in a way I can hardly describe. So ATR fans come on out to the shows. I know I'll be walking around and hanging out all summer! Just 'cause I need a tan and hanging with ATR fans is sweet. Come say hello!!!"
With a July 11 street date, "The Fall of Ideals" is ALL THAT REMAINS' third album and the follow-up to 2004's critically-acclaimed "This Darkened Heart". Recorded with producer Adam Dutkiewicz (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE) and engineer Peter Wichers (ex-SOILWORK) at Zing Studios in Massachusetts in March, the new album features art by renowned artist Travis Smith (ICED EARTH, OPETH).
Gene Hoglan Comments On The Death of SYL
Strapping Young Lad drummer Gene Hoglan has commented oin his MySpace page on the remarks by frontman Devin Townsend about the death of the band:
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I read the Finnish interview. True, Dev is burnt out, and of course he can change his mind quicker than bolt of lightning, but, just 2 days ago, he and I were talking about the next SYL record, what we're gonna do on it, and how absolutely mind-blowing it will be. We ARE taking some time off for Devin to have some much needed family time, but, we ARE hitting the road again in March 2007, headlining tours of both America and Europe, as well as Australia and the Far East. And I am shooting the straight shit with you, as I always do. We are too good to just dissolve, and those are Dev's words. I will never apologize for one of my bandmates speaking his mind, and if that was what was on Devin's mind at that exact time and date, then that's what was on his mind. Give the man some space. Don't worry kiddies, Strapping Young Lad is not disappearing anytime soon. We are a fuckin' fungus. No cream or lotion is gonna do us in that easily. Unless, of course, it's Vagisil.
See ya on the road,
Gene"
