"Korn Karaoke" OK With Jonathan Davis

Launch Radio Networks reports: When KORN singer Jonathan Davis was hospitalized in London last month with a rare blood disorder, the rest of his band still played at England's Download Festival, performing a 30-minute set with guest frontmen from 10 YEARS, SLIPKNOT, AVENGED SEVENFOLD and others. Davis told Launch that he couldn't have been more grateful to everyone involved. "I was very thankful that they did that and it was overwhelming to get, you know, that respect, to have those guys go up and do that, and then that the crowd responded to it well," he said. "You know, all we wanted to do was try and play some kind of show for those fans that paid to come see us. I know I wasn't there, but we tried to do what we could do, and I think it worked out great. Everybody did their best to pull off what I do, so I was stoked."
The singer added that he thought Corey Taylor of SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR did the best job.
Davis is currently recovering at home in Los Angeles from the infection, called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), which sent his blood platelet count plummeting to dangerously low levels.
KORN will be joined by DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, 10 YEARS and other acts on the Family Values tour, which begins on July 27 in Virginia Beach.

Korn rocks. Avenged fagfold SUX. They were so incredibly gay at Ozzfest. Bumping into eachother on stage. It was like they didn't know who went where. I was 2 feet away from them and they are truly a bunch of homos. The guitar player comes to the side of the stage, like he is the sh*it and he wears way too much make up too. GAG! The singer can't sing for sh*it and sounds like someone is stomping on his foot.........The only halfway decent song was WALK, and that isn't even their song! Pathetic. The whole crowd was just standing there looking at them... Disturbed and SOAD sounded alot better, and even Lacuna Coil sounded better......

And M0uRnInG_StAr -- It's the "catchy tunes" that cause them to have millions of fans, unlike that crap metal like Slayer who yell through the whole song and don't have any variation. Korn has produces so many different sounds that you never get bored, and no matter what your mood - there is sure to be a Korn song to suit it.

What you fail to understand is that with out extream forms of metal (mainly thrash and groove metal) nu metal would'nt even exist as it does today. With out extream forms of metal what type of metal would nu metal fuse hip hop with .... hair metal .... glam maybe ....

I'm not even a big slayer fan infact the only slayer album i own is reign in blood which i think is a good album because before that album i never herd such speed from a metal band ... speed like that was only common in punk and i also disagree with slayer politically. my point is i love slayer not because of the music they created but because of the bands they influenced.
almost every major band lists slayer as an influence and this is reason enough to like slayer.

I have always said that I myself do not consider KoRn to be "metal". To me, they are more Rock, or in a category of their own. And yes, I realize that they have many influences, all the way down to Duran Duran for crying out loud.. I never questioned their influences. It's too bad that John Davis has a rare blood disorder, and it's great that they still got on with the show. I'm not a KoRn fan, and I never have been. I do respect them, because now every damn band on the radio sounds exactly like them, and they have been very influential to the music scene.
John Davis is lucky to have found a style of music that people will pay to hear. Has anyone else noticed how when bands slightly alter their music, then they get much more attention? Listen to the difference between "Freak On A Leash" and "Word Up". John Davis is probably laughing his way to the bank. Or the hospital, to get his blood checked, for that matter.

Let me put it to you kids this way. If you compared sales, the best band in the world would be the Beatles. So dont cry sales. Music is about expression, and how its percieved when you listen to it. Theres no use crying over whose band is better, whose band has more fans etc.. just shut up and enjoy the music you like, and instead of wasting time dealing with "haters" go put in your favorite cd, and either smoke a bowl or open a brew.

Anyways, I seen the vid of Benji Webbe from Skindred singing A.D.I.D.A.S. and I wasn't impressed at all. Don't get me wrong, I totally love Skindred but KoRn wasn't Benji's bag. I think it's fair enough that tehy continued with different singers from other bands 'cause that way the other members know that they didn't waste their time going there and the audience gets something that perhaps no-one will ever see again, whether it sucked or not doesn't matter.
