Boy Sets Fire Calling It Quits
Boy Sets Fire will be breaking up this fall. Formed in 1994, the Delaware band has previously released material with Initial Records, Victory Records, Wind-Up Records, and Equal Vision Records, among others. Here's a statement from the band:
"Dear friends, it is not with a heavy heart that we write these words but with a head held high. We wanted to collectively inform you that Boysetsfire has decided to retire. Thank you all for your support and belief in us over the last 12 years... please know it meant the world to us. Boysetsfire for us was always a vehicle for changing the world and we believe that change comes about by starting with yourself, so instead of awaiting certain things to come our way, as always we decided to take our destiny in our own hands. We're not sure which path each of us will take from here on out, but we plan to continue following our dreams... we will play all the shows of our upcoming European tour and possibly one or two last shows on the East Coast sometime this fall (we will keep you posted on this). Good-night."

severi-- i do enjoy good music for what it is. however, i also have tastes and preferences. one example, i hate emo and wish it would die. i will never appreciate that garbage because it is talentless crap. and even though my core is metal, i am not limited to just metal. one nonmetal band that i appreciate and enjoy is crosby stills and nash/young. those guys are true musicians unlike most pop, emo, punk, and boy sets fire. but do you appreciate all music? i bet there are bands that you wish would quit playing.
in short, boy sets fire sucks ass. glad they quit.

I totally agree with Terminator on this one. Both in the sense that there's no point in limiting yourself to just metal and in the sense that emo is talentless bullsh**. The guy that marketed emo is a mad genious. I can imagine a Paul Heyman lookalike listening to a My Chemical Romance demo and saying to himself "Hmm, this band can't sing at all, they can't play, they look like a transvestite pride parade, I'm gonna sign them and turn them into superstars!" Insane genious!

ok every body listen bsf is one of the best bands in the history of the world a lot of bands make music about bullsh*t like partys and cars and girls but if you listento the words that bsf sings you will understand that this band doesnt only make good music but ithey acctually think about the lyrics and not many bands do that and you all need to be considerate because not only did they retirew the leaad guitarist fell three f**kingstories of a building and is barely alive .

And I give a sh** why? How many people on here badmouth Drowning Pool (who are one of my favourite bands) and their late singer Dave Williams? Loads. Do I give a sh**? No. It's opinion. The internet is a free place and consequently many people have chosen to use that voice to express their delight that their splitting up. Also, you talking about lyrics, "bullsh** like parties, cars and girls", ok so here's a few bands that have written songs about parties, cars and girls and are far superior to Boy Sets Fire in every way:
Motley Crue
AC/DC
Deep Purple
Ted Nugent
Motorhead
Thin Lizzy
Rob Zombie
Anthrax
Judas Priest
to name a few
Noother f*** up regarding lyrics. "Not many bands actually think about their lyrics" Hmm: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Sepultura, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Skindred, KoRn, Slipknot, System Of A Down, Guns 'N Roses, Iron Maiden, Venom, Onslaught, Testament, Napalm Death, Anthrax, Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, Pantera, Rammstein, SOiL, Drowning Pool, Fozzy, Saliva, Cathedral obviously don't count then? Want me to continue with bands that have meaningful lyrics? Didn't think so. And now my final point, "one of the best bands in the history of the world", yeah. I'm sorry that I failed to recognize their fantastic contribution to music. Hell The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Stevie Wonder, Prince and Van Morrison all pale in comparison to the mighty Boy Sets Fire.
Sorry everyone, rant over.
