A high-quality video clip of METALLICA performing an as-yet-untitled new song during their headlining appearance at the Gelredome in Arnhem, Holland on June 8, 2006 as part of their recently completed "Escape From The Studio '06" European tour has been posted online at YouTube.com. More clips of the Arnhem show can be found at this location.
As was the case with all the other concerts on the band's European tour, METALLICA played their entire 1986 album, "Master of Puppets", during the Arnhem concert, including rarely performed tracks such as "Orion" and "Disposable Heroes".

i've heard this live at donnington and liked it and downloaded the gig and the more i listened to this song the more it grew on me so give it a good listen some of the riffs in there and lars's drumming are back to what they do best but it was better live i mean when lars kicked in f**k me his kick drums sounded awsome and remember this is maybe an early version of a song it may or may not change a bit

Theres a few flickers of something cool (the time change @ 2:25 and the full speed ahead part from 3:05-3:25) and then poof...Ruined. An unending hose of fecal matter.
Puke inducing vocals, lyrics are uplifty "death is not the end" garbage and then how the tempo came to constipated turtle crawl at the chorus...I mean....What WAS that?
Kirks guitar solo was good....Best he's done since 1995...I don't know how much of a compliment that is.
It kills me to say this....It really does. But Hetfield should seriously listen to Matt Heafy's impersonation of James on the Trivium song "Detonation"....It can only help.
OH MY GOD! I can't believe I'm the first to bring this up: The laugh thing from James @ 8:32...funny stuff. James:"HA~HA!!!"....
Rick Rubin doesn't know what he's in for....This is what car insurance people call a "total".

I keep hoping, and keep getting disappointed. Hetfield's vocals sound HORRIBLE, and Lars' snare drum still sounds like he's beating a trashcan lid. At least Kirk's solo was alright, definately still a work in progress though. I'm not holding out much hope for the new Metallica album anymore though. :/

I liked it. It needs some polishing and a little re-working I think, but I liked it. The studio version will sound alot better. Fix James' shot voice. I'm glad they are working with Rik Ruben. I'm glad it sounds the way it does. A good step in a right direction I think. I'm gonna wait till I hear the finished product before I criticize. They havent given up. So I refuse to give up on them. Drive on Metallica. Drive on.

You know what, you tiny group of people will never get what Metallica was or is or ever will be. They were the first major Trash band to get a major label deal. They played straight thrash on Kill 'em All. Then explored melodies on RTL (listen to Fade to Black) And all the dipshipts of the world cried sell outs... how can a metal band play that crap. Then they moved any further with MOP and layered the sounds, took on drug issues and political and religious issues. And all the dipsh**s screamed wow what a great album. Then Cliff died and James and Kirk and Lars changed forever AJFA is the worst sounding greatest Metal album you will ever hear. So much metal so much anger and so much pain and The REST OF THE WORLD... the real world said Damn these guys are good. They made a video for the first time and the whole reason bands play for that long came to pass, they got rich. Black Album sales have now equalled $145 million dollars to Metallica, the label, Bob Rock and they 100 or so families they employ now. Do you really think any of them really care what you think of the new song they will write another one and another one and another one till James puts down the pen for good and he will never give a sh** about you at all. He doesn't know you and will never know you 'cause he's The leader of the band that took the place of Black Sabbath as most influential band and has a fan club 20 million strong worldwide that will always buy the records. No matter what they put on it. They are one of the top draws in the world every time they tour. They outsold the Rolling Freakin' Stones and Madonna last tour and will do it again next tour. Stop hating and just listen to some other Metallica influenced angry band that plays heavier. Because every band tries to play faster or heavier or have better solos than the other bands. Thats what it is all about. Idiots. Sometimes you just have to turn off your brain and just listen, or at least shut up till your ballsy enough to pick up a pen and a guitar and write a song that EVERY PERSON on the planet has heard. Till then you don't get to complain about what a band does 'cause you cant do any better either, and they still won't care. GET IT

I hate Load.
I hate Reload.
I hate St. Anger.
I'ts been one let down after another for more than 10 years. They do great live but their desire to follow Bob Rocks lead and become super marketable in 1990 gained them much deserved noteriety but cost them their legacy.
I hope Metallica aren't so full of themselves as to not allow Rubin the say-so to critique their work and take his advice. Rubin did Slayer...there is hope...albeit only a bit.

it's pointless to go into some brain dead rant defending this band. but i will say that people who hate load need to pull their head out of their asses and give it another listen. don't take it as a metal record and don't constantly have some lingering notion that it's supposed to sound like it was recorded in 1985. it's a damn fine rock record. great songs, great writing, and great production. we won't talk about the other two after it.

i agree that it was good for not expecting load to be a metal album if you dont think of it as metallica it is good. Metallica is great, they just need to go back to writing things like the master of puppets album and ride the lightning. maybe they should call it 'ride the puppet' well yeah they just need to revisit their roots and stop following what nu metalers are doing

RIDE THE LIGHTNING IS THE BEST METAL ALBUM OF ALL TIME and i hate people who talk about puppets all the time( it is an amazing album dont get me wrong)
and metallica is the best live band along with ACDC and why cant people see that the music in load/reload/st anger is really really good music... it may not be heavy like the 5 albums prior, but embrace the fact that it is good music and if you dont like it, dont listen to it.

metallica have a huge variety of music and sounds, and if any of u have seen the lkive sh** dvd and heard them - they are awersome livew too.

yeah i agree that metallica were a great metal band, but after the black album they seemed to lose their edge, but that still doesnt mean that kill em all thru the black album were some of the best metal albums of all time and influenced many if not all of the new metal bands out there today.

exactly. it's hard to do new things after twenty years. my taste in music has changed a lot over the years...as a musician, and a fan of music. the song isn't their best, but it does grow on you if you give it a chance. the song structure and intensity is a lot like the older songs, but the brutality is missing. at least they keep it interesting. i just heard slayer's new record, and it's the same record they've put out for twenty years! how f***ing boring is that? i've been a slayer fan for years, and got bored within the first three songs. i can tell you what the next four slayer albums will sound like too...same as the last four! there's definitely something to be said for staying true to your roots, but at least metallica keeps you wondering what's next. don't any of you get bored with the same old sh** all the time? anybody ever get tired of reign in blood over and over again, day after day, year after year? probably not
