Shantak Signs Record Deal

Melodic death metal outfit Shantak has inked a new worldwide deal with Sliptrick Records. The label comments:

"The heavy, doom, and thrash metal influences mixed with melodic death and old school death metal are perfectly blended, as Shantak perfectly craft their songwriting transcending into gloomy yet bright melodies, with lyrical themes focused on literature, dreams, love and the universal power of nature, while the main themes are landscapes painted of death and mortality.

"The Shantaks, mighty dragon-shaped created by the pen of HP Lovecraft, fly high above the highest peaks and the deepest chasms of the desolated lands of Unknown Kadath, a mysterious and shady mountain raised by the Great Old Ones."

Helgardh To Record New Album

American black metal band Helgardh will be hitting the studio in May of 2015 to begin work on latest full-length album, "Mallevs Maleficarvm."

This recording comes fresh off the heels of single release "The Aberration Scars," in which the band worked with Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, A Skylit Drive) at Basement Studio.

Helgardh will again return to Basement Studio to record with Jamie for this new full-length release. The album will feature Ken Sorceron of Abigail Williams doing a guest vocal appearance.

The group also recently signed with Extreme Management Group, and vocalist Famine had this to say: "Helgardh set out to prove to be a force to be reckoned with since our conception in 2009. We have put forth all efforts to make it as far as we've come in the last 6 years and are very excited to become a part of the Extreme Management Group roster. We feel that this deal will push us to the next level, the level that we want to achieve as a band, and with a new album on the horizon, we feel confident that it'll happen.

"Our forthcoming album is, to say the least; the most aggressive effort the band has produced, and promises to surpass all expectation of a Helgardh album. Now with Jamie King at the helm of production, we feel that the band is continuously moving forward in every aspect of the industry. With this album, our goal is to put a new standard on American Black Metal, and become a dominant force in the modern metal scene, and with our new partnership with EMG, we feel like we now have the assets to make it happen."

I left all these goodies out at the time to make the album more distinguishable from my former second band Savage Circus... a fatal error, which I finally can correct now." More...

The Lion's Daughter Signs To Season Of Mist

St. Louis, MO-based metal band The Lion's Daughter has signed to Season of Mist. The band will enter the studio this coming Spring to record a Season of Mist debut for a late 2015 release. The label also comments:

"The Lion's Daughter was formed in 2007 by guitarist/vocalist Rick Giordano, drummer Erik Ramsier, and bassist Scott Fogelbach. The band was originally conceived out of a hatred for the insincere and uninspired fodder choking the mainstream metal scene.

"They take notes from a myriad of metal's extremes, but live by no musical limitations and are driven to please no audience but themselves. The band doesn’t play as if it simply wants to see the world end; it sounds like they want to be the ones to destroy it.

"Since their inception, The Lion's Daughter has built a reputation as a formidable live force, sharing the stage with High On Fire, Pig Destroyer, EyeHateGod, Torche, Misery Index, Nachtmystium, Dark Fuenral, and more. Staying true to their underground ethic, the band has toured around the country on the backs of several independent releases. The band has won the St. Louis Riverfront Times reader's poll as 'Best Metal Band of the Year' several times over." More...

Majestic Downfall Signs With Pulverised

Mexico's Majestic Downfall has inked a record deal with Pulverised Records. The label had this to say:

"Pulverised Records is immensely pleased to welcome Mexican doom-strosity Majestic Downfall! Fronted by chief doom-commander Jacobo Córdova, whom also splits his alter-ego as Mr. Jacko in death metal act Zombiefication; Majestic Downfall places its musical direction in 90's doom / death territories with some twists, inevitably causing a very unique clash of darkness, sorrow and a primal sense of aggression. Majestic Downfall is currently working on the upcoming full-length record, details on the new album shall be announced again later in the year."

Regarding Majestic Downfall's signing, Jacobo Córdova stated: "I have followed Pulverised Records since the early days, so it is truly an honour to release the new Majestic Downfall with one of the leading underground metal labels in the world. Many of you who already know the band, will be surprised with the many new elements that have been added to the music but still, the core will be the same as always; Doom / Death misery! Can't wait for this collaboration of doom to take place and thanks again to Pulverised for believing in Majestic Downfall."

Pulverised Records A&R Manager Calvin Chiang also states: "Having known Majestic Downfall a while back but the initial impression of what we heard from the band's previous efforts really was a pleasant surprise because Mr. Jacko does have a split personality! As some people might know that we are pretty big fans of this melancholic doom / death style; the torture of funereal-drenched riffs searing through, the turmoil of lengthy songs droning continuously and simply that feeling of utter misery after listening to an entire album, Majestic Downfall nailed down every aspect of what we love about this genre and we think that the new album will be yet another grief-stricken bludgeoner."

Kings Destroy Details Self-Titled New Album

Brooklyn stoner rock/doom unit Kings Destroy will unleash a brand new studio offering on May 5th. The self-titled monster, and follow-up to last year's critically-lauded "A Time Of Hunting," was produced and mixed by Sanford Parker (Twilight, Voivod, Eyehategod, Yob etc.) at Studio G in Brooklyn, mastered by Collin Jordan (Eyehategod, Indian, Wovenhand, Voivod etc.) at The Boiler Room in Chicago and delivers seven, lead-footed doom rock hymns.

With the third album in four years, Kings Destroy leave its hardcore-born stamp on noise rock and doom. After sharing stages with Pentagram, Winter, Saint Vitus, Church of Misery, Yob, Pallbearer, Vista Chino, Orange Goblin, Trouble, Acid King, Corrosion Of Conformity and so many others, the five-piece stand tall with their defining statement. Championed Yob guitarist/vocalist Mike Scheidt, "It's a great album. Heavy, yes. Doom? Yes, with a dose of the best of the '90s. I'm a fan of the '90s," he further elaborates, "so that is meant as a compliment.

"But what is best about Kings Destroy is that they write good songs. Helmet meets early Queens Of The Stone Age meets Kyuss/Unida, roughly. [Steve] Murphy's vocals are strong and really steps up what is already killer. Great production, tones, performances." Adds Pentagram's Bobby Liebling, "Kings Destroy is some heavy shit. I can feel the emotion. I can tell Murphy has got some serious pain; he's singing from his balls."

The track listing for "Kings Destroy" is:

1. Smokey Robinson
2. Mr. O
3. W2
4. Mythomania
5. Embers
6. Green Diamonds
7. Time for War More...

Sadism To Record New Album

Chilean death metal band Sadism has announced that the songwriting process for the group's forthcoming sixth full-length album has finished.

Sadism will hit the studio in April / May for a late 2015 release. This untitled album will mark the band's first delivery to be fully distributed in Europe and North America on CD and LP configurations.

The group has been active since the late 80's. Drummer Juan Pablo Donoso comments: 'Sadism has a strong following in Chile and South America but we never took that much attention to the markets in the north, I mean North America and/or Europe, not because we weren't interested but because we focused all of our energy in our territory and I like to think that we have done very well at that.

"Now after I've joined and toured in Europe and North America with Thornafire, and mainly what we have done with Pentagram Chile, all those experiences were like an eye opener for me so I started to think that we should make an extra effort with Sadism and to take the band to a further step. We talked about it in the rehearsal room and we all agreed that this year 2015 we should be touring abroad, and I guess the timing is right because the actual line-up of Sadism is the strongest we have had so it make sense from any perspective we might see it.'
