Lithium Dawn Issues New Album Update
Lithium Dawn has checked in with the following update about working on an upcoming full-length album release:
"So we thought it was about time we gave you an update on where things are at with our new album. Since the beginning of this year, we've been working really hard on putting the finishing touches on all the songs and dialing in the mix. During this time, we've experimented a lot more with different sounds and production techniques and we've incorporated a much more diverse range of instruments compared to what we used on 'AION.' We honestly can't wait for you to hear how our sound has evolved since then!
"Over the next few weeks we'll be wrapping up mixing, with mastering soon to follow. At this point, we're still working out some details for the actual release so we can't give a definitive date just yet, but we're aiming to have it out this summer. In the meantime though, we will be releasing more clips as well as full songs for you guys to hear, the first of which we've uploaded today smile emoticon
"This is the title track, 'Tearing Back The Veil.' It's the first song we finished when we started writing after 'AION' and it's a pretty good representation of the direction of this new material. This version of the song is lightly mastered by Ondrej, but the end result will be done with Taylor Larson. For now we hope you enjoy hearing what it currently sounds like. Let us know what you think and stay tuned for more to come!" More...

Gutter Instinct Signs With Prosthetic
Prosthetic Records is proud to unveil the signing of Gutter Instinct: raw, atmospheric and blackened buzz-saw Swedish death metal at its finest. The label comments:
"Gutter Instinct was founded in 2012 by Oscar Persson, Hannes Hellman, and Thomas Ernemyr in Helsingborg, Sweden, after having played together in various bands over the years. The aim was to unleash a unique combination of grinding death metal – no compromise, no remorse. Starting out, major musical influences included bands like Verminous, Necrovation, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Rotten Sound and Napalm Death.
"After writing and rehearsing four revolutionary and unholy songs, the band entered Studio Mangelrum to record first demo tape, 'Obedience.' Oppression, anti-religion and total rejection of the establishment were the leading themes. The demo – self-released by the band in 2013 – was swiftly appointed 'Demo of the Month' in the leading Swedish metal magazine Close-Up.
"After some various role changes in the rhythm section, the lineup became Ernemyr (vocals), Persson (guitar), Hellman (guitar), Simon Isakssn (bass) and Ola Håkansson (drums).
"Gutter Instinct will release a new EP this spring; stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, get a taste of the band in the below teaser video!" More...

Goatsnake Guitarist Talks "Black Age Blues" Album
Greg Anderson has carved a little niche into the annuals of doom metal. Best known for his droning guitar tones in Sunn O))) he has also lent his axe to bands such as Burning Witch, Teeth of Lions Rule The Divine and Thorr’s Hammer. Anderson’s latest band in the news is Goatsnake. Goatsnake is not as well known as Sunn O))). They don’t play nearly as often and haven’t released a full-length recording in fifteen years. Now all the band members have been able to get together to play a string of shows and release a new album titled “Black Age Blues.”
Goatsnake played a couple of shows last year, which afforded them opportunity to play some of the new album, which is due June 2nd. Goatsnake is billed to play a couple of festivals, Maryland Death Fest and South By Southwest, where they can showcase this new material to their fans. I talked to Anderson via phone in the following interview about these upcoming shows and the making of “Black Age Blues.” More...

Nightwish Shudders Before The Beautiful
In anticipation of forthcoming studio album "Endless Forms Most Beautiful," due out on March 27th (EU), 30th (UK) and 31st (US), Finland-based symphonic metal band Nightwish now reveals the album opener "Shudder Before The Beautiful."
"Shudder Before The Beautiful" is premiered today via Finland’s Helsingin Sanomat - listen in at this location. Tuomas Holopainen comments:
"We wanted to present our upcoming album's opening track 'Shudder Before The Beautiful' for everyone to listen to before the album's release in cooperation with the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat. Bringing together the most trustworthy Finnish media with a song about universal awe was a match made in heaven in its uniqueness.
"The core of 'Shudder Before The Beautiful' lies in moments such as gazing at The Milky Way on a cold winter's night, seeing a photo of our Planet Earth, 'a pale blue dot' taken by Voyager 1 as a tiny oasis in the unfathomable vastness of space, or when listening to music which momentarily takes away all woe and time.
"And sharing those moments with people you love.”
Wicked Inquisition Releasing Self-Titled Album
Minnesota's Wicked Inquisition is a band that plays doom the way it was meant to be played - loud and heavy, with a psychedelic twist. This is music inspired by legends such as The Obsessed, Saint Vitus and of course, Black Sabbath.

The band has released two EPs so far, and will release a self-titled full length on May 8th, 2015. Check out the song "Black Magik Nacht" below. More...
Destruction Drummer To Miss Upcoming Tour Dates
Destruction drummer Vaaver will not be able to complete the band's upcoming North American tour with Sepultura and Arsis due to the birth of his second child.
Standing in for Vaaver will be longtime Primal Fear / Annihilator drummer (and current DuskMachine member), Randy Black. Destruction front man, Schmier, states:
“I've known Randy for many years. He’s a down to earth guy and a killer drummer! So when we thought about who could replace Vaaver on this North American tour, only a few drummers came to my mind and Randy was our first choice. Who else could do a stand-in job like this with a great attitude and amazing skills! It will be a great experience for us to play with such a powerhouse drummer and I’m sure Destruction fans will appreciate his performance as well!" More...

Korpiklaani Invokes The God Of Fertility
Korpiklaani is set to release new album "Noita" on May 5th in North America via Nuclear Blast. Today the band premieres the lyric video for "Lempo," which can be seen below. Commented Fiddler Tuomas Rounakari:
"Lempo is a fiery God of fertility and the song is about the spells designated to Lempo in order to guarantee a success in one's personal love life. The Finnish mythology is very unique in its approach to sexuality. We do not have spells to improve procreation like most of the cultures do. But the spells to gain more luck in love life or to increase ones stamina are numerous for both men and women.
"Lempo is also closely related to fire and one could see the hair of Lempo flashing in the red and yellow flames of fire. The song is a prime example of the new Korpiklaani sound with a lead guitar like violin solo and more prominent folk arrangements. It takes a step towards progressive rock balancing the folk and metal in a way Jonne has always dreamed it to be."
In addition to recently announced North American tour dates with Ensiferum, Korpiklaani has announced a run of North American headline shows with Trollfest providing direct support. These dates begin April 28th in Charlotte, NC and run through May 5th in San Diego, CA. The two bands will then join up with co-headliner Ensiferum on May 6th in Los Angeles, CA. More...
Chuck Billy Releases Herbal Vaporizer
Testament vocalist Chuck Billy is releasing a new vaporizer pen, in partnership with San Francisco Bay Area-based Lord Vaper Pens, dubbed "The Chief." You can pick yours up at this location.
Those who act early will truly receive special treatment: the first 1,000 buyers of “The Chief” will not only receive an individually numbered vape pen, but each pen will also be autographed by Chuck Billy himself.
“I’m very excited to release 'The Chief' herbal vaporizer from Lord Vaper Pens – we’ve been discussing the potential release of this product for quite some time and I’m glad to say it’s now a reality,” states Chuck Billy. “We’ve actually modified 'The Chief' by turning up the temperature settings higher than what this style of vaporizer typically features. We’ve learned that these new settings are a desirable feature based on feedback from Lord Vaper Pens users. As someone who is in the business of giving music fans what they want – I feel it is important to translate that passion into this venture by listening closely to the consumer.”
Lord Vaper Pens CEO Adam Black adds, “Joining forces to collaborate on a product with Chuck is an honor for me, as I’ve been a long-time friend of his and a fan of Testament. They carry the torch, staying true to their thrash metal style and Chuck is a real Native American warrior, being a cancer survivor and all. He did sweat lodge rituals for treatment… I mean, how fucking dope is that? 'The Chief' Herbal Vaporizer is a tribute to all those fighting the good fight out there.” More...
