Warbeast Brings On New Guitarist And Bassist
Lineup changes are nothing new for Texas thrash outfit Warbeast: the band has proven its resiliency over the years by simply reloading and continuing on.
The Housecore Records Recording artist has once again added some new weaponry to its arsenal. This time Warbeast has chosen to bring in some young bloods. Drummer Joey Gonzalez elaborates:
"2 young guns with a fire-in-their-bellies and hungry for thrash. It’s humbling and refreshing for me to work with two dedicated individuals ready and eager to hit the road and continue the tradition of thrash."
Drew Shoup (20-years-old) is now the band’s 2nd guitarist, and he comments: “Warbeast is one of the tightest, most energetic bands I've ever heard. I am very excited to be a part of what they do.”
Lyric Ferchaud (17-years-old) will take over the bass duties and proclaims: “I've watched the band become who they are and to be a part of that is pure excellence. I feel that joining this band will keep 'The Beast' alive as it should always be, and lead to even more powerful thrash metal than before.” More...

Art Of Anarchy Signs With Another Century
Art Of Anarchy - featuring Scott Weiland along with lead guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (Guns N’ Roses), bassist John Moyer (Disturbed), and introducing twin brothers Jon (guitar) and Vince Votta (drums) - has signed a worldwide deal with Century Media imprint, Another Century.
The band's debut self-titled album will be in stores and online June 8th, 2015. Art Of Anarchy states: “We're all excited our album will be released worldwide on Century Media/Another Century Records and the public will finally hear what this band stands for."
The band started out of an 18-year friendship between Bumblefoot and the Votta brothers, dating back to the local New York music scene. Jon Votta approached Bumblefoot with the idea of putting together a unique new rock band that would have people talking. They knew Weiland would be the ideal singer to handle the band’s musical diversity. Once Weiland was on-board, the band was completed by the aggressive, precise, melodic bass of career-rocker John Moyer.
Jon Votta co-wrote the album and shares lead responsibilities with Bumblefoot. According to Votta, “This is the record I always dreamed of making since I started playing guitar.” Vince Votta came up with the band name based upon these principles: it had to be extreme, uncompromising, and make a bold statement - much like his drum playing. SXSW 2015 Day Two: South By South Death
Metalsucks.net's South By South Death showcase featured guitar shredders. Tech death bands Archspire and Allegaeon were in full force, but before they hammered out their first blast beats, a different kind of shredder took the stage. Myrone is a one-man guitar virtuoso hailing out of Los Angeles, California. The sole member of Myrone was similar to Buckethead in that he wore a mask. Many of the long notes he held was reminiscent of Joe Satriani. He later admitted to me that Satriani is a major influence. He played his guitar over top of ‘80s style keyboard samples, which were part of a soundtrack to a video game.

Column
Thrashback Thursday: Steal Away The Night
As mentioned when we first launched this column, despite the title, it's not exclusively dedicated to thrash metal. We're proving that this week with a look at a song from a man who doesn't have anything to do with thrash as such, but has everything to do with metal, Ozzy Osbourne. Today also marks the twenty third anniversary of the death of his guitarist, Randy Rhoads, also formerly of Quiet Riot, who would no doubt have become a bigger guitar hero than he already is, as he was unquestionably one of the most talented guitarists of the time, perhaps of all time.
Rhoads caught the world's attention when Ozzy Osbourne released his first album, "Blizzard Of Ozz," in September 1980. It was a fantastic debut by anyone's standards, striking a balance between high energy heavy metal and sixties influenced pop rock, interspersed with sentimentality on songs like, "Goodbye to Romance" and "Revelation (Mother Earth)" and Rhoads got his own spotlight on the instrumental piece, "Dee," a classical inspired work which clocked in at just under a minute but highlighted his talent tremendously.
He helped create some excellent rock songs too; "Crazy Train" and "Suicide Solution" being arguably the most well from the record, but songs such as "I Don't Know" and "Steal Away (The Night)" were no less stellar, the latter featuring a sound which perfectly blended the heavy metal at the beginning of the eighties, helping Ozzy to stay relevant and contemporary with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which had really taken off that year. What makes it such a good song, is that while it's unquestionably a (then) modern heavy metal song, it has great undertones of the sixties music which shaped Ozzy's life so evidently. It features a highly catchy chourus and a generally positive vibe which was a staple of bands such as The Zombies and Status Quo, culminating in a very enjoyable closing track and a perfect snapshot of the "Blizzard of Ozz." Gruesome Streaming New Album's Title Track
While Relapse Records puts the final grisly details in place for the release of "Savage Land," the debut album from Death-inspired metal collective, Gruesome, No Clean Singing has unleashed the opening title track to the disc. Listen in below.
Channeling inspiration from one of death metal's iconic, founding American acts, Death, into its own mangled interpretation, Gruesome's "Savage Land" is a truly horrid slab of late-'80s/early-'90s Florida-styled death metal created in homage to the late Chuck Schuldiner.
Notes drummer Gus Rios: "What was to become 'Savage Land' started out as a kind of funny sounding guitar pro demo, complete with midi drums. [guitarist/vocalist] Matt [Harvey] had already sent me his first demo song, but this was the track that sent me into a renewed sense of excitement for playing metal! It sounded like a lost Death demo from '88-'89! I knew right then and there that I would see this project through to completion. Most people have already heard the demo version, so this album track will really showcase the upgraded production value of the full length."
Relapse Records will issue "Savage Land" on CD and all digital outlets in North America on April 21st. More...
Domovoyd Releasing New Album
The young psychonauts of Domovoyd are onto their sixth year of existence in this dimension, and having taken many acid heads by surprise with their Svart debut album, "Oh Sensibility" (2013).
Now the band is ready to deliver a second transmission from worlds beyond and within. Scheduled to appear on the planet on May 8th, once again via Svart Records, the album is self-titled and it will be available on CD, double-vinyl, and digital. Svart comments:
"Domovoyd's eponymous 60-minute behemoth pays tribute to progressive rock masterpieces of yesteryear in the sense that it is, for lack of a better word, a concept album: storytelling and mythmaking in the works, if you will, but distilled through an overdriven stack of amplifiers. The album's six tracks deal with inner discovery of the psychedelic kind and, ultimately, with the loss and destruction of all conceptions of self and the world; old ego is a too-much thing, as Charlie Manson once said."
For those who are looking for a quick fix while waiting for the album to hit, Domovoyd has prepared a shorter version (at only 13 minutes) of the album's opening track "Domovoyage" below. The album's track listing is:
1. Domovoyage
2. Ambrosian Perfume
3. Caustic Afterglow
4. Mystagogue
5. Amor Fati
6. Vivid Insanity More...

Congiura Releasing "iBlood" Next Month
After announcing a signing with Sliptrick Records back in January, melodic death metal outfit Congiura has revealed new album "iBlood" will drop in April of 2015. Sliprick comments:
"Congiura plays a brand of Swedish influenced melodic death along the lines of In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, Amon Amarth and Katatonia, with hints of post-rock and gloomy negative doom.
"'iBlood,' the upcoming album, packs a serious punch of heavy, downtuned riffing blended with thunderous pounding drumming and meaningful lyrics…definitely not your average washed up death metal clones.
"Featuring 8 tracks of serious no-nonsense metal to bang your heads off, the album will be available worldwide through selected distributors and shops and each and every digital platform. Stay tuned for the upcoming official video!"

Theories Streaming Full New Album
Today Pacific Northwest death grind miscreants Theories offer up the molten fruitage of their impending "Regression" full-length in its scathing entirety - listen in below courtesy of Invisible Oranges.
Captured at The Red Room and The Boiler Room with producer/engineer Derek Moree (The Sword, Pelican, Minus The Bear et al) with mixing and mastering conducted by Visceral Sound's Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed), "Regression" flaunts ten vehement tracks of jagged, confrontational, crust-infused death grind centered on the wanton truths of social discontent.
Elaborates drummer Joe Axler: "We are very fucking stoked to unleash this record onto all of y'all and feel like at this time, in 2015, with a lot of metal being released in genres that we enjoy but don't play, we wanted to make sure to make as pissed off a record as we could. Due to what seems like a lack of grind and death grind bands around right now, we hope this will make its mark and bring something to the table in the genre/scene we fit into."
You can also catch Theories live supporting the album on these dates:
3/24/2015 Linda's Tavern - Seattle, WA *Regression Listening Party

Argonauta Records just issued the following announcement about inking a deal with stoner outfit Lowburn:
"A new stunning name is now part of the Argonauta family: Hailing from Finland, Lowburn is an impressive band able to blend the pure stoner rock frenzy to the doomier as well as more psychedelic fields.
"Formed by Battlelore members Tomi Mykkänen and Henkka Vahvanen, Lowborn was born as a band since the very first jams, recruiting Miika Kokkola and Tommi Havo (replaced by Tommi Lintunen in the beginning of 2015).
"After a couple of EPs, the guys are now giving the final touches to their debut full length, highly anticipated as a massive energy of fuzzy groove!
"Showing the appreciation and gratidude to such bands as Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, ZZ Top, Kyuss, Acid King, Sleep, Monster Magnet and Cathedral, these four guys are delivering the rock as it's supposed to be!"
