Late Friday night, Manowar bassist Joey DeMaio appeared onstage at this year’s Getaway Rock Festival in Gävle, Sweden and announced that Manowar will perform as next year’s festival headliners.
“The Swedish fans have won; their belief, shown by their non acceptance of false metal is the reason we will finally return.” said DeMaio after the announcement. “There was no compromise in their voices, nor in our resolve; we promised each other that it’s all or nothing. It is no secret that there was a war between promoters as to who would bring Manowar back to Sweden and finally give the fans what they want and Getaway won.”
“This is a major step for us and naturally we are honored that we could secure Manowar as headliners for Getaway Rock Festival 2012.” said festival organizer Tomas Gernberg. “Manowar have a strong and loyal following in Sweden, Scandinavia and all over the world. We are proud to be the ones to bring the band back to Sweden.”
“We played our last festival in Sweden in 1999 and we promised we would not return until we could give our fans what they deserve and next year that promise will be fulfilled. We vow to crack the earth with power and might,” said Joey DeMaio.
“This will be a show which no true metal warrior will want to miss. We are calling all Manowarriors not only from Scandinavia, but from all over the world to join us for earth-shattering, face-melting metal.” continues DeMaio, "The voice of the fans in Sweden has been heard, many other countries will also take heed and their voice too will be the reason Manowar will appear in their country next. There will be more news and surprises to be announced!"

TMZ.com is reporting that former Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri (also in Kyuss Lives!, formerly of Kyuss) was involved in a standoff with Los Angeles area SWAT officers on the evening of July 12, 2011 at his personal residence.
Cops were called to the home of 39-year-old Nick Oliveri after a neighbor called 911 to report a domestic disturbance between the man and his girlfriend. The girlfriend, who was unnamed, told police the rocker struck her during an argument the day before and she had come back to the home to collect her stuff so she could move out. That's when the two got into another heated argument and the former Queens of the Stone Age bassist had locked themselves inside the duplex. When cops arrived, Oliveri refused to allow cops inside the residence and would not let his girlfriend leave.
A SWAT team was then called to the home and a standoff ensued. After two hours, Nick finally agreed to let his girlfriend leave the apartment and two hours later finally giving himself up without further incident. When police searched the residence they found one high powered rifle which was fully loaded.
Oliveri was booked on felony domestic violence. He has since been released after posting $100,000 bail.

"Shyaithan and Impiety announces a line up shuffle this year, and this done so that logistically it may prove better for the band and it's continuous progress to wreak more chaos and carnage across this godforsaken globe, one we all call Planet Earth. It was never an easy decision to let Atum go but after much consideration it had to be done.
"Here is Atum's closing statement: 'After 10 months of hard work, worldwide touring and skullfucking recordings, i'm here to communicate my departure from Impiety. The recent events made me and Shyaithan come to the conclusion that our musical paths are taking different directions, so we decided to split in order to maintain a good friendship and keep in contact to support each other's career, which we are already doing. I'll keep working restlessly with Music as always, we're just done recording the new album with Divine Codex so stay true and keep supporting true Music. My Best wishes to Shyaithan and Impiety.'
"Impiety extends it's gratification to this brilliant drummer and thanks Atum for the greatest of times spent together rehearsing, recording as well as executing 10 hellish concerts together. Irreplaceable would be these greatest memories and achievements of Atum in Impiety and it shall continue to live on. We wish Atum every success with his main band Divine Codex and all future projects/bands he will work with. Despite different career paths now, we shall remain in close contact and support his every effort and endeavour being one of the best drummers and greatest komrade we've known. ALL HAIL ATUM!"
