Norwegian act Den Saakaldte recently announced its split with Pulverised Records. The band has now revealed it has moved to Agonia Records by issuing the following statement:
"Many dramatic changes occured during the last one year in Den Saakaldte’s reality. When Niklas decided no longer to continue with the band, many things passed from our minds…even just dropping the whole damn thing off.
"After the band discussing and coming to the conclusion that all the members wanted Den Saakaldte to continue being active as a way of artistic expression but also as in a lifestyle attitude for us, we decided that certain things had to be put down and start all over again.
"Agonia Records that has been following our ways and sharing our ideas on how things should be, gave us the opportunity to built the foundations for Kapittel II:Faen I Helvete on solid ground. Filip showed to us with quite devotion, the how much he wanted the band in Agonia Records’ roster.
"We are looking forward to start with the recordings and we are even more excited to hear soundscapes, having now Mr Hægeland as frontman. The future looks dark ...and quite much pissed off."
Additional details on the upcoming album "Kapittel II:Faen I Helvete" will be announced as they are made available.
Each week in Unearthing the Metal Underground, we'll be putting a few quality underground bands in the spotlight in an attempt to get the word out about them. This week I am checking out Perth’s thrash and thrash-influenced metal scene.
Perched on the arse end of a continent-spanning desert, Perth is the most isolated capital city in the world, and not surprisingly this has led to a very active local metal scene. The bands highlighted today have in common some kind of thrash influence – although how heavily that influence manifests itself in the music varies from band to band.
Enforce has been around in one form or another for over 10 years, releasing in that time three full length albums including the latest, “Biblakil,” in the first half of 2011. But the live show is where this band is at its best, whether supporting an international act (Enforce has opened shows for Behemoth, Obituary and Kreator, to name a few), touring Australia, or playing local gigs.
Although a lot of death metal flavors their sound, Enforce has an undeniably strong thrash influence – just look at frontman Guy Bell’s patch jacket!

After disbanding in 2009, Ireland's Chosen is now back and is currently working on a studio album with producer Alwyn Walker at the legendary Westland Studios in Dublin, Ireland. The album, which has yet to be given a title, is scheduled for release in 2012 and will be the group’s very first studio album, having put out only demos and EPs for a number of years prior.
Guitarist Paul Shields comments: “The project is really starting to take shape and we’re all very excited about what’s coming together. This album has been a long time in the making. It’s going to feel so gratifying when we finally get to release these songs to the public; songs we worked hard on, obsessed over, and allowed to consume each of us as the compositions filled our heads day after day.” More...

French black metallers Glorior Belli have revealed the cover art and track listing for their new album "The Great Southern Darkness," which is to be released in North America on September 27th, 2011.
Commented the band on the new release: “The Great Southern Darkness has been recorded over a few months period and is comprised of 11 tracks that magnify all the best elements of Glorior Belli in a twisted unique way again; a tremendous journey through dark deserts and evil swamps with Lucifer as a personal guide. It’s also dangerously violent and fast, yet at the same time really dark with all the Americana/stoner/blues elements that we cherish. Though often warm and almost inviting, the allure of Glorior Belli's bidding is revealed by a vicious duplicity; you will find comfort here, but at an unspeakable toll. The production is clear yet just harsh enough to bring a warm, fuzzy and completely unique sound you won’t find in any other modern recordings. So load up your haversack and hit the dusty road!”
"The Great Southern Darkness" track listing is as follows:
1. Dark Gnosis
2. Secret Ride To Rebellion
3. They Call Me Black Devil
4. Negative Incarnate
5. Bring Down The Cosmic Scheme
6. The Great Southern Darkness
7. The Foolhardy Venturer
8. Per Nox Regna
9. The Science Of Shifting
10. Chaos Manifested
11. Horns In My Pathway More...
Update: The streaming period for "Cold Pestilent Hope" has end. The album is now available at most major online retailers for the price of $6 USD.
Metalunderground.com is proud to host the exclusive full album stream of Crown The Lost's new album, "Cold Pestilent Hope," which will be released tomorrow, July 19th via Gas Can Records and most online retailers and streaming services. "Cold Pestilent Hope" is the Pittsburgh band's third album, and first with new vocalist Leon Mallah, as well as bassist Timothy Boyle and drummer Argel Marchelletta.
Founding guitarist David E. Gehlke commented: "We're very stoked to be working with a new, innovative company like Gas Can. The fact that they're willing to think outside the box made them a logical choice to release Cold Pestilent Hope. A band's third album is usually a very slippery slope, but I think we've gotten over that hump and have fully developed our own identity. In our (totally biased) opinion, it's our best work to date, and we hope you feel the same way."
The complete tracklisting for "Cold Pestilent Hope" is as follows:
1. Pray For Death
2. Separate Blood From Waste
3. Breathe Into Emptiness

We went through a couple of personnel changes this past year, so this isn’t only a showcase for the new EP but it’s also a chance to introduce everybody to the new lineup. The sound is the same but somewhat heavier and we’ve matured musically and lyrically a lot as a band since our first EP and last live show.”
