U.K. metal act Aliases has unleashed a music video for "What's Left For Us?" through Metal Injection. You can check out the clip below. The track comes from the band's forthcoming mini-album "Safer Than Reality," which will be released on August 15th via Basick Records.
Produced by international film-maker Benjamin Cappelletti, the video was shot on location in Manchester. Benjamin comments: "I was very excited to work with Aliases because I've never heard their style of music before, it's so rapidly executed and aggressive that I knew my video had to be as dynamic as their sound. Inspired by watching fluorescent material floating down a river, I decided that I had to have this effect in the video, using UV light to reveal the fluorescent liquid allowed me to create two different aspect of the same thing."
Singer Jay Berast adds: "It was a great to work with Ben Cappelletti. We've been friends for a long time, but this has been our first opportunity to work together on a project. When I approached him to do our video, he immediately became attached to the lyrics 'I will show you another side' and wanted to produce a concept to reflect them. We absolutely love the result and hope that our fans enjoy it too!"
Iced Earth guitarist and founding member Jon Schaffer has posted a new message online, updating fans as to the progress of the group's new studio album, "Dystopia." His message reads as follows:
"All is well here as we are pushing forward with master tracking the new album, Dystopia.
"We have finished drums and rhythm guitars and are right on schedule. I'll be heading to Europe tomorrow for a few festival dates and then right back to work in the studio on Monday. Jim Morris and I are having a great time, as usual, and are very much looking forward to starting vocal tracks with 'Stucifer' next week!
"Stu Block has contributed a lot to the vocal parts on this record, with co-writing credits on 10 out of 12 songs, and I'm very happy with our chemistry and what we've accomplished together so far. And we're just getting started. More...
Metalunderground.com has obtained the exclusive premiere of an acoustic video for Egypt Central's hit single and title track, "White Rabbit." The video was shot in the Atlantic Records Studios in New York City and puts the band's songwriting and musicianship front and center without the glossy production of today's mainstream metal.
Egypt Central’s new album, "White Rabbit," came out on May 31, 2011 on Fat Lady Music/ILG. Produced by Skid Mills (Saving Abel, 12 Stones), "White Rabbit" is the follow-up to 2008’s self-titled debut, which reached #8 on the Billboard “Heatseekers” chart. The 12-song set features heavy riffs, lyrics from the soul and strong melodic hooks. Threaded throughout this collection of songs is a story of consequences that occur when one accepts or declines the invitation from the fictionalized character of the “White Rabbit.” A comic strip created by bassist Joey Chicago depicts the story in more detail and can be found in the CD booklet.
“We knew we had solid songs, but when the opportunity came to work with Skidd, we found the person that could not only make a great sounding record, but also bring the best out of us,” states lead singer John Falls. “We had a lot of growing to do as men and the time was right to give our fans what they deserved and what we knew we were capable of…Kick Ass Rock!” Adds Joey Chicago, “Collectively, this is the best group of songs we have ever written.”

Powerwolf recently finished shooting a video clip for the song "We Drink Your Blood" from the upcoming album "Blood Of The Saints." The video clip can now be viewed below or through Metal Hammer Germany.
According to the concept of "Blood Of The Saints," Powerwolf shot the video in an ancient monastery church. “Shooting the video in such a special and atmospheric place was incredible,” comments organist Falk Maria Schlegel. “The combination of the sacral interior of the church, including altar, confessional box and a church organ with a lot of fire, fog and metal insanity was the perfect set for a Powerwolf video!”
"Blood Of The Saints" will be released July 29th (G/A/S) / August 1st via Metal Blade Records in Europe. The album will be released as a regular CD, a limited edition Digibook 2-CD and on vinyl.

"With 'Valley of The Serpents Soul' we are out to smash your eardrums with an audio assault of blood, riffs, and gear." said the group when asked for comment. "Longer, harder and heavier, our aim is to dish out punishing riffs and blazing solos that would make Tony Iommi proud!"
"Driving home and listening to the album after we had completed it, I suddenly heard a loud bang!" said vocalist / guitarist Craig Kasamis. "My right tire had blown out and my car proceeded to do a 360 on the freeway, but with God-like reflexes and a few crafty maneuvers I manage to skid to a halt in the slow lane. A few deeply terrified breaths later I realized that, this album literally could kill you."

Ancient VVisdom (pronounced Ancient Wisdom) is quickly becoming entangled in the web of enchantment spun by occult rockers such as Ghost and Blood Ceremony. This retrofitted style praising the great mysteries of the universe has become a hot commodity (read what xFiruath has to say about this phenomenon) in the metal community.
Ancient VVisdom executes an accessible sound owing to folk, pop, psychedlia, doom and hard rock. Tribal drumming and whimsical tools of percussion such as knives, machete and chains, while acoustic and electric guitar create opposing/dualistic sounds. These instruments help drive home the images related through repetition of their chorus lines.
These images and ideas have emerged in great abundance in just a short time. After much correspondence, the group released a split 12” LP with the world’s most famous cult leader, Charles Manson. In June, the Austin group released it’s first full-length “A Godlike Inferno” (read the review) to a heap of media acclaim. Since then, the group added bassist TA (Hod, ex-Pleasant Valley) to bring about a deeper backdrop. TA joins the core of Justin “Ribs” Mason (acoustic guitar), Michael AVV (electric guitar) and Nathan Opposition (drums/percussion/vocals).
Often incorporating a projector to synch up images with their music, Ancient VVisdom uses the live setting not just to showcase their music but also to relate rituals. The group has opened for Scott Kelly (Neurosis) and Wino, Swans and the Pentagram/Eyehategod SXSW showcase. Before opening for the mighty stoner rockers The Sword on Independence Day, Nathan Opposition spoke with Metalunderground.com about what makes this eclectic band tick. More...

Two members of Scottish death metal act Cerebral Bore were mistakenly arrested in New York City recently amidst the hunt for a man who murdered a number of people at a drug store.
The band had been out celebrating the end of a tour when guitarist Paul McGuire and bassist Kyle Rutherford went to a drug store in the early morning hours. Although the store's doors were open and the lights were on, it appeared that it was not officially open for business as an alarm went off, so the band members left and went to another store down the road. As they were leaving, a number of NYPD squad cars surrounded them and they were thrown to the ground by police officers and arrested at gunpoint. The two were charged with criminal trespass, petit larceny, burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.
The pair spent the next 36 hours being moved between crowded jail cells and witnessing violence and intimidation from the other inmates. The real drug store killer was later arrested and, following a court appearance, all charges were dropped and the members of Cerebral Bore were eventually released.

Counterparts have posted the following statement online, announcing the departure of drummer Chris Needham from the group's ranks.
"Some very important/sad/exciting/whatever news today. Chris Needham, our good friend and drummer for this past year has decided to leave Counterparts. Unfortunately, the band just wasn’t what Chris wanted from life anymore, and that’s basically all that can be said about that. He was an unreal kid, and we’re going to miss that silly bastard more than he even knows.
"However, in the meantime (this is where the news gets exciting) we’re going to be jamming with an old friend that some of you may remember. His name is Ryan Juntilla, and he played drums with us for many years. He’s been kind enough to help us out over the next little while so we can continue writing, playing shows, and hopefully putting that new record into your fat little fingers."
Chicago extreme metal act Withering Soul has officially entered the studio to track the follow up to 2011's "No Closure." The new album has yet to be named, but is projected to see a release next year. The band has begun recording the drums with Chris Wisco at Belle City Sound.
Krystofer (guitarist) commented on the upcoming album: "We happen to have about 7-8 songs written that just require some minor revision and keyboard arrangements. The next album will definitely have much of the same feel as 'No Closure,' but with more solid song structure and a few new surprises. The music is very moody, dark and enigmatic at times, with sporadic bursts of aggression. As with our previous efforts, we plan to take our time in working on this album, yet at the same time, there will be a much quicker turn around on this release."
Withering Soul can also be seen performing at this years 5th annual Metal Mergence, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Reggie's in Chicago. The festival is much like a heavy metal conference, featuring graphic artists, record label & booking reps, and live bands.

Hamburg is still on for tomorrow. Its a miracle nobody got hurt, as the bus skidded on two wheels for 50 feet and the side door was completely torn off. Q: Does the album title have a deeper meaning besides being the group's 13th release?
A: "I was born on September 13th; this is my thirteenth record. It just seemed like it was the right thing to do to call it TH1RT3EN."
Q: What are some of the song titles?
A: "There's a title track, a couple of songs, there's 'Sudden Death', which was on the Guitar Hero game – that was extremely successful and garnered us another Grammy nomination. Then there was 'Never Dead', which came out for the Kunami video game Never Dead. The record itself will probably be coming out around November 1st."
