Chicago extreme metal act Withering Soul has officially entered the studio to track the follow up to 2011's "No Closure." The new album has yet to be named, but is projected to see a release next year. The band has begun recording the drums with Chris Wisco at Belle City Sound.

Krystofer (guitarist) commented on the upcoming album: "We happen to have about 7-8 songs written that just require some minor revision and keyboard arrangements. The next album will definitely have much of the same feel as 'No Closure,' but with more solid song structure and a few new surprises. The music is very moody, dark and enigmatic at times, with sporadic bursts of aggression. As with our previous efforts, we plan to take our time in working on this album, yet at the same time, there will be a much quicker turn around on this release."

Withering Soul can also be seen performing at this years 5th annual Metal Mergence, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Reggie's in Chicago. The festival is much like a heavy metal conference, featuring graphic artists, record label & booking reps, and live bands.
