Nine Inch Nails Announces Final US Tour Dates
Nine Inch Nails mainman Trent Reznor has posted an update about their final US tour dates:
"Getting right to the point, we're going to play a handful of shows in NYC, Chicago and LA starting August 22nd. They will be informal affairs in medium to small venues with longer set-lists, possible special guests, cool openers and other surprises. Upon reflection, the NIN/JA tour felt like we had to rush through sets due to a limited allotted set length and many shows were in daylight - it just didn't feel right to end NIN that way. An offer to headline a festival (being announced soon) set the idea in motion to play some FUN shows to end this up with. If we can get it together we'll film these shows, too.
"In NYC we'll be playing Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall and Terminal 5. In Chicago, the Aragon Ballroom. In LA we'll be at The Wiltern, The Henry Fonda, The Palladium and The Echoplex. These should be cool, unusual and unique shows and I hope you come out - this is it.
"So far, The Horrors will be joining us for some shows in NYC, Mew will be with us at other shows in NYC, Chicago and LA, and perhaps more.
"Details and ticket info will be announced shortly, so check back."

Gross Misconduct Recording New Album
Vancouver death/thrash band Gross Misconduct is set to begin recording its second album, with drum tracking to commence at Vancouver's Mushroom Studios on July 18.
Following up on Gross Misconduct's independently released 2007 debut "The Process of Indoctrination," the band's as-of-yet-untitled second album is set for a fall release date.
"We've got nine songs and around 50 minutes of material," said Gross Misconduct guitarist/vocalist David London. "Our new album represents the next logical step in our progression as musicians. There's some songs on there that you'd come to expect from us, but definitely some tunes that will catch people by surprise. There's a healthy mix of fast and slow, brutal and epic and maybe even an instrumental in there as well..."
With a recording schedule that will take the band through August, Gross Misconduct is also playing a handful of festivals and club dates while in the studio.
The band will perform at the Vans Warped Tour at Vancouver's Thunderbird Stadium on August 14 and at the Alberta-based Harvesting Hell Festival, alongside Atheist, Quo Vadis and many more on September 6. The band will also headline a show at the Cobalt in Vancouver on July 31 with Over The Coals and Resurgence.
Cvltvs Mortem Issues Band Update
Black metallers Cvltvs Mortem, formerly known as Sonic Devastation, have issued the following band update:
"As many of you are aware, things have been very quiet here at the Cvltvs camp during the last month+. On a local level, there have been many rumors making their way back to us regarding our status as a band. Yes, it's absolutely true that we encountered some turbulence, regrettably resulting in the cancellation of 4 upcoming shows. It's also true that Robert had flirted with the thought of joining Dimmencha when things were very questionable. Despite the degree of seriousness of where we were at as a band, a compromise and re-focussing of the minds was reached. Evil doesn't die easy, and it has become time to re-group and re-kindle the black flame! We're not at liberty to promise any time frame for a live performance any time soon. For now, we descend back into Hell to resume work on our new material that was put on the back-burner due to an overly aggressive live performance schedule. We thank everyone that supports what we do, and apologize to our fans who have questioned the band's status. It's become necessary to issue this statement to let everyone know that CVLTVS LIVES!"
The Absence Announces Fan Guitar Contest
Florida metallers The Absence have issued the following announcement about letting a fan play guitar on their upcoming album:
"What's up, Shredders!
"Anyone that knows The Absence knows we love our fans. Let's face it, you guys are why we do what we do. So whenever we get the chance we always like to show our gratitude any way we can.
"Since we know a ton of our fans are guitarists, this time around we thought it would be cool to give you a little piece of the action. So...while working on pre-production for our newest record 'Enemy Unbound' we left a section open for a guest guitar lead from one of you!
"The contest is pretty simple. Download the backing guitar riff at this location, come up with your coolest guitar lead over it, upload it to YouTube.com and we'll pick the winner!
"Runners up will receive goodies like autographed CDs, shirts and stickers!"
A video clip about the contest can also be viewed below. More...

Midnattsol Parts With Gutiarist Fabian Pospiech
Female fronted metallers Midnattsol have issued the following announcement about seeking a new guitarist:
"Recently we told you the happy news, that our guitarist Fabz became father of a little son. Such events always also bring some changes in life, thus Fabz decided to concentrate increasingly on his family and his new job. Unfortunately this also means that Fabz won’t be able to play at Midnattsol any longer. We can understand his decision very well and wish him all the best and good luck for the future!
"Thus it also means for us now: Midnattsol search for a new guitarist!
"To complete the line-up and blast off again we are searching for a band experienced and creative guitarist. Do you already have live experience, are you motivated and ready for headbanging? Then please write to newguitarist@midnattsol.com and give us a short description about yourself (if possible with a picture) and what you have musically done so far.
"What you can expect at us? A record deal, a rehearsal room at Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart, festivals and tours and of course us, a bunch of Midnattsols that like to party. We are currently writing songs for our third album and would be happy if you immediately join us with this and at the forthcoming Metal Female Voices Fest in Belgium. Musicians from Ludwigsburg / Stuttgart and the greater region will be preferred.
"Metal on!"

Mower Explains The Importance Of Pre-Orders
San Diego's Mower are currently set to release their new album "Make It A Double" On July 28th. The band has issued the following statement commenting on the importance of pre-orders to underground bands:
"Everyone in the band and at the label are out in full force asking our friends, family and fans to preorder the 'Make It A Double' CD. I thought I'd take a minute to get into the important role that preorders play, for those of you without plans to preorder it.
"First off, preorders come with a free autographed full color two-sided poster. It's limited edition memorabilia, which means you get something other people can't have along with the CD artwork and a physical CD.
"Preorders show where people are buying our records, and that helps us route our tours. You shouldn't have to drive to a big city if more people in your town bought the CD.
"A lot of preorders affect first week sales that can land us on emerging artists charts or get airplay on stations that would normally ignore our music, and a buzz about the record starts. A good base can persuade a buyer to stock our CD in more towns so the people you turn onto us can find it in stores later.
"For an underground band those kinds of things are key, because we're not going to have ads in every magazine and videos on every channel and DJ's jamming our songs down people's throats. We don't focus on that shit, but it does affect us, and if you're a fan, then it affects you too. More...

Download In This Definance's Demo For Free
Seventh Dagger Records recently posted IN THIS DEFIANCE's demo for free download with the following message:
"One of our absolute favorite releases on Seventh Dagger over the years was the xIN THIS DEFIANCEx demo. This was Seventh Dagger's 4th release ever so it was pretty early on for us as a label. We saw these guys play a ton of times, they were a great band and a great bunch of dudes. Unfortuneately the band broke up before they could record their official release for the label. They played their last show ever at the Auburn, NY EDGEFEST. Anyway since it is out of print and unavailable we thought we would put it up here for free download with the insert so you had the lyrics and cover art. Please leave some comments if you loved this band as much as we as a label loved them or you saw them live and if you never heard them before then now is your chance!"
You can download In This Definance's free demo here as well as the CD cover and insert.

Through our Metal, as with our physical and mental, we summoned up the Greatest Degrees of the Primal Demons inside our Black Flame...SITRA - AHRA. The Metal on this new project is very diverse. From different modes, to different keys. These new tracks are very much in harmony with the Underworld...666 There are eight full length songs, from 5 min. to 8:30 min., as with two acoustical interludes.
