So instead of playing Unholy Fest on July 25th, we will play at Club 'CK Wiatrak' in Zabrze City [http://www.wiatrak.art.pl].
"Since it’s a last-minute show, and we want to fill the place to it’s entirely, the ticket price is set to only 40 Zlotys (9 euro) in pre-sale, and 50 Zlotys (11 euro) at the door. Support will come from 'Infernal War' and 'Pleroms Gate.' See you there!!!"

Bleeding Through Signs To Rise Records
Front man Brandan Schieppati of Bleeding Through has issued the following statement about the band signing with Rise Records:
"We're very excited to align with a record label that has so much momentum and is growing when many seem to be faltering, dropping bands and firing employees. Rise continues to grow. We've been a band for a decade and we wanted to be with someone who is enthusiastic about Bleeding Through and is in a position to help us continue to grow and progress as well. A lot of labels, managers and agents carry these egos as if they are the most important part of the equation. It's all about what the bands can do for them, to advance their interests, instead of the other way around. We had a lot of serious interest from several labels, many of whom we get along with. But we felt like Rise is the best fit for us because they are excited about our band and our music first and foremost."

Swallow The Sun Issues Studio Recording Diary
Swallow the Sun has posted an extensive recording diary detailing each day in the studio while they record their new album "New Moon." The full diary can be found here. An excerpt from the diary follows:
"TWO WEEKS EARLIER
"It's only two weeks before the studio sessions for our new album, 'New Moon', when we started really rehearsing the new songs in our rehearsal space at Lutakko, Jyväskylä. The Finnish President of Drums Kai Hahto is coming to rehearse the new songs with us, and we'll have to get everything ready within a week - we just don't have more time.
"Even though we had a really busy schedule, we got everybody playing together and the songs started to sound good. Naturally there was some uncertainty at start, but we are quite sure about what we can do and we didn't have to fall too deep in to depths of desperation. After the rehearsals brainstorming the new album continued at local bars and discotheques while enjoying a few drinks and other refreshments - 'an important part of the process', because in addition to rehearsing the album we also have to talk it through. Trivium Announces U.K. Tour
American metal outfit Trivium has announced that they will be heading to the United Kingdom next year for a headlining tour. A message from singer/guitarist Matt Heafy states:
“United Kingdom! As we said at Download, the UK was the first place in the world to truly embrace Trivium and make us feel like we had a home away from home on stage. The first several UK headline tours we did back in 2005 and 2006 were destructive, lethal and life-changing experiences we shared together: long sets... long tours... no frills, just our friends, our music and a good metal time. It's been a very long time since we've done a full blown, multi-date headlining UK tour... and man have we missed it. We mentioned at Download that it would be a while till we would return... and 2010 is just about that time. We're coming back with a vengeance and we're bringing some friends and we're playing some of our favorite venues. We hope to see you there!"

We’ll see, I don’t know. I haven’t fallen out with Zakk, but Zakk’s got his own band, and I felt like my stuff was beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. I just felt like I wanted a change, y’know?
“I’ve got a guy from Greece coming in – not the musical, the country of Greece – but I’m not going to say too much about it, cos I don’t know myself at this point. I’ve got a new album, I’m working on it as we speak. I’ve got a studio at my house and I’ve got a guy called Kevin Churko, the guy that did the last album – he’s great to work with.
"And it’s great to have your own studio. On one hand it’s great and on the other it’s not, cos when you’re at the studio you can go, ‘Sorry darling, I can’t get home for dinner, I’m stuck at the studio…’ But she can fucking come down stairs now! But I’m just enjoying my life now…" More...

Anthrax founding member and guitarist Scott Ian has confirmed that he will be writing a two issue comic book for the DC Comics character Lobo. It will be drawn by artist Sam Keith and released sometime this Fall.
"I have a bit of that going on with the comic book character Lobo. I find it much easier to write comic books than lyrics, actually, because it's a natural dialogue," Ian said. "Writing song lyrics is not natural, but over the years, I know what I need to know to get it done. I find it quite easy to capture a character and use my own personality and humor."

Opeth Front Man Issues Road Report
Opeth front man Mikael Akerfeldt has issued the following tour road report:
"OK, good people, time for another boring post about some retarded little boy that thinks it's fun to pose like me and write 'fun' posts about new Opeth album titles etc.
"To be honest, I'd be surprised if anyone actually believed it was a page run by me. It's so silly that it'd take an enormous amount of ignorance, or booze, to actually fall for this hoax. The page is a Twitter (which I've never even heard of) page and is found here.
"If you email this little cretin tell him to 'fuck off' from me please. But I'd rather you all just ignore him. Once again, the only page actually run by me in person is this one, I don't have Facebook, Twitter or anything else by those standards.
"I just got back home from Gotland (original home for Grave and some Vikings too). It was nice but very rainy. Went with wife and kids and had a nice time despite the rainfall.
"Other news, we'd been offered a support tour in the US by Tool but we didn't get it this time, Hopefully in the future it might work out. More...
New Book Announced On The History Of Metal
Authors Jon Wiederhorn and Katherine Turman have issued the following announcement about an upcoming book on the history of metal:
"'Louder Than Hell: The Unflinching Oral History of Metal' by Jon Wiederhorn and Katherine Turman will be a comprehensive, informative and entertaining history of metal told by the people who created it. In addition to talking to a broad range of artists, the authors will interview industry professionals, music insiders, journalists, filmmakers, and others to reveal the social and musical history of the genre that has transformed so many lives over the decades. Harper Collins Publishers will release 'Louder Than Hell' in 2011.
"For the book, Wiederhorn and Turman will include quotes from over 100 artists from the past and present, ranging from cult heroes to mainstream stars. Members of Black Sabbath, Twisted Sister, Slayer, Metallica, Dokken, Def Leppard, Pentagram, Judas Priest, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Slipknot will collectively reveal the evolution of metal from the ‘60s to the present, in all its explosive, ear-bleeding, hedonistic glory. 'Louder Than Hell' will also include over 100 rare and never-before-seen photos, flyers and illustrations, which will complement the compelling text 'There have been some excellent books about the history of heavy metal, but never one as indepth and revealing as ‘Louder Than Hell,' says Wiederhorn. 'Instead of bombarding readers with our opinions and analysis, we’re letting the musicians do the talking.' More...
Power Quest Parts With Vocalist Alessio Garavello
Power Quest has issued the following announcement about parting ways with their vocalist:
"We are very sad to announce that Alessio Garavello will be leaving Power Quest after the festival shows in September. Alessio has been the voice of Power Quest ever since the 'Wings of Forever' album back in 2002, and has also had two stints of playing rhythm guitar in the band as well. In that time he has established himself as one of the top power metal vocalists in the business.
"Founding member Steve Williams commented: 'I have to say I was surprised when I got the call from Alessio telling me the news. I can hardly believe it is 7 years since a fresh faced, 21 year old Italian came over to record for the first time. We didn’t know it then but it was the start of a great friendship, which will transcend band membership and all that. We always say in PQ that you only get one life and you have to make the absolute most of it. Sometimes that involved difficult decisions such as the one Alessio has made. I fully respect and support his decision and wish him all the best in his future musical endeavours. I’d like to thank Al for all his hard work and commitment to the cause over the years and, following the departure of Steve Scott earlier this year, it is truly the end of an era.' More...
