Dark Tranquillity to Release New Album in 2010

Dark Tranquillity has issued the following album update:

"Time to let you in on the plans for our upcoming ninth (or tenth, depending on how you count) full-length album. The as-yet-untitled beast will be recorded in September and October and released in early 2010 through Century Media Records.

"We'll keep the recording setup completely in-house this time. Drums will be tracked in Daniel Antonsson's studio, while the remaining instruments will be immortalized in Martin Brändström's newly renovated Rogue music facilities. The mixing duties will once again be handled by Tue Madsen in his Antfarm studio in Denmark.

"As for the music itself, it's a bit too early to delve into details, but the material feels diverse and fresh and covers all the facets of the D.T. sound. Those who are familiar with our songwriting process know that we always keep re-arranging and experimenting with the material until the recording starts, and while we currently have the basic foundations for around 10 songs, many things are still open.

"Some tentative song titles are 'I am the void,' 'Zero distance,' 'the burden of love alive,' 'Archangelsk' and 'Memories in reverse,' though these are subject to change as usual."

Woods Of Ypres Issues Recording Update

Woods of Ypres has issued the following update about the recording of their new album:

"My Dear Myspace Woodsfolk... Reflecting on this past week of guitar recording in the studio... I had a real feeling of satisfaction today, after having performances of carefully shaped riffs finally recorded for a new WOODS album, riffs of which had first been written as early as July 2007, while sitting on my bed in my apartment in Seoul, Korea, at the very beginning of my year in exile. At the time, I bought a cheap electric guitar to travel abroad with and when I got there, I bought a small Korean made, 5 watt practice amp to allow me to 'plug in' and play. It was quite the humbling experience in many ways. Change was overwhelming and everything sounded bad. Horrible. In an attempt to do something to keep me distracted, I just started writing again. Writing riffs, setting them aside. Writing thoughts, setting them aside, too. ...not knowing what would become of those expressions.

"Over time, a time I hardly remember, the riffs met with those thoughts and words and became new WOODS songs. The thought of this 'next' WOODS album weighed heavily on my mind these last two years, since the release of 'Woods III'. The constant feeling of needing to be working on it was seemingly always present, always a distraction while working on other things, fulfilling other obligations, doing what needed to be done to 'get by' between albums. And now, drums are recorded, guitars are almost completely recorded, bass soon to be done, two years' worth of somewhat carefully selected personal quotes written out on green recipe cards, soon to be ultimately filed away into a verse...vocal preparation well underway (the car is still the best place to rehearse, IMO). More...

Thesyre Vocalist Comments On Lords Of Chaos Movie

Vocalist Eric Syre of Canadian metallers Thesyre has issued the following statement about the upcoming movie based on the Lords of Chaos book:

"A few people contacted me recently, inquiring about my feelings on the forthcoming Lords Of Chaos movie.

"Being a long-time Burzum enthusiast, a supporter of Varg Vikernes, after being slightly involved in burzum.com and its following online community (filosofem), as well as appearing on the only 'official' tribute album I guess my two cents meant something to someone.

"Whatever, here's my take of the phenomenon:

"The book this movie is based on was, to begin with, a huge pile of crap. Most of its content is built around interviews excerpts, more than often put out of context and focusing mainly on shocking topics without giving it any additional background. More...

Evergreen Terrace Seeking Donations For Drummer

As was previously reported, Evergreen Terrace drummer Kyle Mims will be missing the band's upcoming tour dates due to a bike accident. The band has issued the following update about the situation:

"My good friend and band mate Kyle Mims was in a terrible bike accident 2 days ago. He was rushed to the emergency room, x-rayed, tested, treated, etc. He came out with a load of stitches, road burn all over his body and a broken clavicle. The broken clavicle prohibits him from playing drums, which is how he makes his living. He will be missing our next 2 tours and stuck at home, unable to work. Yesterday he went back to the doctors and they told him that if he wants to continue to play drums he will have to have surgery.

"The surgery will cost him $10,000. They require $5,000 up front and the other $5,000 once the surgery is complete. His emergency room bills, tests, ambulance ride, etc is estimated to be an additional $10,000. He was very close to receiving health insurance thru his work, but unfortunately this happened before it did.

"Kyle's mom and stepdad (Stacy and Mark Earle) have set up a donation site if you are interested. If not, then please keep him in your thoughts.

"Thanks!"
