Anger As Art Issues Studio Update
LA thrashers, Anger As Art, is currently in the studio recording their new album, entitled "Disfigure." The band has issued the following update on the progress:
"The sessions with John Haddad at Trench have really exceeded my expectations thus far. I had worked with John about 5 years ago on a project that never was completed... nothing that was his or my fault. Others involved, not really important. But to get the tones we have, the performances we have, and to really capture band energy while multi-tracking... it is amazing.
Rob came in and just blasted his tracks out - most in one take. I started guitar tracks on Tuesday, finishing Wednesday morning. Then Dan came in on Wednesday - we were so far ahead, we took Thursday off. Danny finished his tracks Friday, then Angelo did bass tracks and finsihed on Friday. There was no effort to rush anything - it just flowed that way. Not that money or budget is an issue (yet, LOL) but we are easily a week ahead of schedule. I will go in on Monday or Tuesday and start doing vocal tracks - then Danny do his vocals, then guitar solos, then one more day to recruit a gang choir to do the group background vocals on a few songs like Seed Of Hate, The Crush, Disfigure... a couple of others. Doubtful that we will complete the recording by next weekend, but we will be very damn close. No doubt we will be done by Labor day with everything!" More...

Helix Tentatively Names New Album
Vocalist, Brian Vollmer, of Canadian metal band, HELIX, has issued the following update:
"This has to most unpredictable years in the history of the band, but somehow through all of it the band has ‘evolved’ to a new level. The ironic thing is that we’ve come full circle, back to the start with the reunification of the original line-up from the 80’s-Fritz/Brent/Daryl/and myself, and a new CD destined for release in the fall, tentatively entitled ‘Vagabond Bones,’ which harkens back to our roots, yet sounds contemporary. The first three tracks, which have been heard by several people in the industry now, have been getting high marks. Notable in this regard is Derek Oliver of Rock Candy Records, which over the past several years has released re-mastered versions of Walking the Razor’s Edge and No Rest for the Wicked. Derek was also a writer for KERRANG Magazine back in the day. Derek thinks this is some of the best stuff he’s ever heard from us." More...
Dragonwind Issues Studio Update

"Dragonwind has been hard at work in the studio the past 2 days recording our new full length CD 'Return of the Dragon.' Matt tracked the drums yesterday; they sounded complete and proficient. Today was a grueling day of bass, rhythm guitar, and some lead guitars. We are very happy with how everything is turning out, and are enthused for everyone to hear it. We will return to the studio on August 7th and 8th to finish up the guitars, lay down the vocals and keyboards, and the final mix and master. We will hopefully be releasing the CD sometime late September/early October. Look for our new music to be posted on August 8th!!"

Job For A Cowboy Frontman Admits Downloading Music
In a recent interview with UltimateGuitar.com, Job For A Cowboy front man Jonny Davy commented on albums leaking early and his own music downloading habits. An excerpt from the interview is below.
UG: Are you annoyed that 'Ruination' has been leaked through the internet?
Jonny Davy: Leaking happens, so 'Ruination' being leaked is no biggie. I'm an illegal downloader myself, so I can't blame anyone.
UG: Do you endorse illegal downloading then, since you're an illegal downloader?
Jonny Davy: I wouldn't say I endorse illegal downloading. I don't really think illegal downloading affects things too much, especially when you're an underground metal band. Downloading, and finding ways to get albums heard, is almost like the new era of tape trading. I can't complain - I definitely do it myself.
