The band commented on the signing, "After a few months of very positive talks, we are proud to announce we have signed with Prosthetic Records. This is a step forward for the band and a move that opens up a lot of doors that we have not yet explored in the last three years of distortion. Prosthetic has been supportive of Trap Them's modus operandi for quite some time, just as we have a great respect for the high standards in which their label is run." More...

Anthrax Guitarist Hoping For A Full Bush Reunion

Anthrax guitarist and founding member Scott Ian recently spoke to the United Kingdom's Metal Hammer magazine about the departure of vocalist Dan Nelson, the new album, "Worship Music" and the bands upcoming one-off show in England with former vocalist John Bush. When asked if there was any hope that John Bush would return to the band, Ian stated:

"It’s not in the back of my mind – it’s right at the front of it. When our reunion tour with Joe Belladonna and Dan Spitz finished in 2007, we (Ian, Benante and bassist Frank Bello) wanted both John and (guitarist) Rob Caggiano to come back. Well, Rob returned but not John. Now, though, we’ve Sonisphere to look forward to with him.

"I love working with John, and I know I speak for everyone involved with Anthrax – the band and the fans – when I say that the best thing for us would for this to turn into a long-term relationship. But I don’t want to jump the gun. Let’s see how things go at Sonisphere, and take it from there."

And although this will be the bands first show in the United Kingdom for ten years, as well as the live debut of Resisenegger, who replaces the late guitarist Jesse Pintado (formerly of Napalm Death and Terrprizer,) bassist Shane Embury has stated that it will be the bands final performance.

"LOCK UP has not played the UK since the summer of 2000 when we did a small tour with Poland's Decapitated - in fact the band has only ever done around 15 shows since we formed ten years ago. More...

An Interview With Neal Gist From Of Raven & Ruins

Of Raven & Ruins are an unsigned band from the United States, but listening to their music would never tell you that. With a symphonic style along the lines of Dimmu Borgir or Gothmog, but with a strong death metal edge, Of Raven & Ruins sound like they should be sharing the cover of a major metal magazine with the best out of Europe. The band's drummer Neal Gist spoke with me about the origin of the band's interesting name and their debut full-length release "Bound To Prophecy." More...

11th Hour Issues Recording Update

11th Hour has issued the following update about recording new material:

"Much like the main character in the album's story I'm racing against the clock, although unlike him I'm not trying to save my soul but 'just' trying to make the best album I possibly can!

"Rogga recorded his vocals last week and they're awesome, as expected, although the man was sick as a dog when he did them. We thought it was morbidly apt that he should be suffering from respiratory problems while performing the part of a man dying from a lung disease... anyway, his voice sounds powerful as ever and really takes the songs to a much higher level than I could imagine.

"After months of hard labor it's great to see all the pieces of this gargantuan puzzle fall neatly into place, only a few pieces left... I'm doing guitarsolo's and leadthemes now, lots of intricate double/triple/quadruple twinstuff which is hell to record but cool to hear. And hopefully tomorrow I'll finally start recording my own vocals, about time!

"Ronnie has already set up a basic mix of drums, bass and rhythm guitars and it sounds real good, heavy yet clear and punchy. I have a feeling this is going to turn out quite alright."

Testament And Onslaught Unleash A Thrash Assault

Testament are currently on tour in the United Kingdom promoting their latest studio album, "The Formation Of Damnation" which was released last year to much critical acclaim. They made the wise choice to bring British thrash metal legends Onslaught along for the trek as well as young American thrashers Warbringer. Needless to say, no-one left disappointed.

I unfortunately arrived too late to see most of Warbringer's set but I saw the last song and they seemed like a good band. I'll make a point of seeing them in the future. It was a special show for Onslaught as the concert was being held in their home city of Bristol and the venue, (the Bristol Academy) was the only venue in the city the band hadn't played yet. The band opened their set with a thunderous response from the crowd as they ripped into the title track from their 2007 masterpiece, "Killing Peace." They continued on with a set that mainly consisted of songs from "Killing Peace" and their 1986 classic, "The Force" including staple songs, "Let There Be Death" and "Metal Forces" before finishing with "Power From Hell," the title track of their debut album. Onslaught showed ferocious energy from start to finish and seemed like they were having just as much fun as the whole crowd were. The only thing that seemed to let their set down was that alot of people complained about the sound, claiming the drums were louder than the vocals and guitars. It sounded fine to me though. After their set members from the band were hanging around talking to the fans at the merchandise stand, which is always nice!

Testament have been on a roll since releasing "The Formation of Damnation" and they're showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. They opened their set with "The Preacher" and continued to give unleash a high energy, sonic assault from there. Chuck Billy cemented his repuatation as one of the best frontmen in Thrash Metal by connecting well with the audience and keeping his voice as intense as ever before, and with the guitar team of Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson behind him, in addition to the awesome rhythm section that is Greg Christian on bass and veteran thrash drummer Paul Bostaph, you can't go wrong. They performed the majority of their classic songs including, "Into The Pit," "Over The Wall" and "Disciples Of The Watch" as well as newer songs such as "More Than Meets The Eye" and "The Persecuted Won't Forget." A personal favourite moment of mine was when they began their encore with the excellent, "D.N.R." from the 1999 album, "The Gathering" before ending the show with the unusual choice of "The Formation Of Damnation." They left the stage to a great show of respect from the crowd after promising to return to Britain next year with a brand new album to support.
