Chosen has posted the following message online:
"It is with a heavy heart we announce that Chosen is no more. After several years of hard work and perseverance, it's time to say goodbye. Simply put, the Chosen project broke beyond repair this last weekend. It’s fair to reason that the financial, personal, and emotional strains wore some of us down and caused this premature ending. Regrettably we never got to record our debut album or even tour Europe but such is the fragile nature of band relationships.
"We won't go into the whole 'behind-the-music-band-break-up' scenario, but Matt and Johnny’s decision to leave Chosen and return to Canada came as a surprise, given everything we have been through and were working towards. The rest of us don't want to go through yet another major line-up change and are just ready for a new chapter in our lives.
"We would like to sincerely thank everyone we have worked with over the years and anyone who supported us when we were together. You have all been amazing.
"Lastly, we have a limited number of our first four releases (The Fragment EP's & Promo 2007) which we are happy to give away for free. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for your free copy.
"Thank you and farewell."

THE 69 EYES returns with their ninth studio album. Having already announced their signing with Nuclear Blast Records for Europe, they have not announced a North American deal with The End Records.
Turning their back on the comic book glam of "Angels," The Eyes have opened a heavier chapter in their musical career. Matt Hyde (Slayer/Monster Magnet) has been invited to produce the record.
“He’s cleaned the table and dusted the skeletons!” singer Jyrki 69 laughs. “It’s like when Rick Rubin helped The Cult discover them on ‘Electric’ - we made a similar spiritual journey with Matt.”
Once again THE 69 EYES have their finger on the pulse of darkness with 12 goth ‘n’ roll anthems guaranteed to rock the crypt. “Unsurprisingly, the main inspiration for the album came from the vampire realm,” Jyrki explains. “We haven’t made a concept album but nearly all the songs have something to do with the undead or at least horror as a genre.” Delving into his movie collection, the singer focused on Jean Rollin’s erotic French flick "Lips Of Blood," "The Hunger," and the modern-day opus "Night Watch." “It’s almost like vampires are taking over the world!” he muses referring to the current "Twilight" mania. Polish dark metal band Darzamat has inked a worldwide deal with German Massacre Records. The label is known for working with such bands as King Diamond, Atrocity, Crematory, Darkane, Legion of the Damned, Solitude Aeturnus, Theatre of Tragedy, Das Ich and Disbelief. The band’s fifth album, “Solfernus’ Path,” is scheduled for release on August 28 (In Japan album will be released by Spiritual Beast).
Commented Flauros, vocalist of the band: "We are more then happy to announce that we have signed a new record deal at Massacre Records. We hope that thanks to the experience of the Massacre Records crew our music will have a chance to reach more people now. We are really looking forward to working with them and promoting the Solphernus’Path.
"We are also extremely happy to enter the Asian market through Spiritual Beast."
Darzamat has tapped Jonas Kljellgren (Scar Symmetry guitarist) of Black Lounge Studios in Avesta, Sweden to mix "Solfernus' Path." The new album was recorded in Poland under the supervision of Jaroslaw Toifl, with whom the band had previously worked on 2005's "Transkarpatia" (Metal Mind Productions in Europe, MVD in the USA). There are two great guests on the album: Andy La Rocque (guitar solo in “King of the Burning Anthems”) and Roy Mayorga (opening intro). The artwork for the new CD was created by MentalPorn.com Agency, which has previously worked with such bands as Death Stars and Behemoth.
Darzamat has uploaded a teaser sampler on the band's MySpace player.
"Solfernus' Path" includes the following songs:

Texan symphonic black metal band, Vesperian Sorrow, has issued the following update:
"Well the time has come for us to enter the studio and finally record 'Of Opiates and Accolades!' We have been working on all the songs and putting the finishing touches on what we think will be our darkest and most mature album to date. We will be posting a studio report throughout the recording process and posting videos and possibly streaming live at some point, we've been discussing the possibilities. We are going to be starting the recording process around July 20th. Right now Kris and Will are recording Jon Zig's band Sarcolytic. After they finish mixing the new Sarcolytic album that will be released through Unique Leader Records, they will be focusing all their attention on the new Vesperian Sorrow. We are also very happy to announce that we have a new management company we are working with, Chaotic Beauty Music, and we are very excited to be working with Kimberley James. As well, we are booking up a bunch of Vesperian Sorrow gigs for the summer and latter half of the year, so please keep posted we might be hitting a city near you VERY soon!"
Taiwanese black metallers Chthonic are currently streaming the new song "Rise of the Shadows" on their MySpace page. The track is off the band's upcoming album "Mirror Of Retribution," which is currently set for an August 10th release via Spinefarm Records.
Ex Deo front man Maurizio Iacono has issued the following update about recruiting a new bassist for touring duties:
"EX DEO have enlisted bassist Dano Apekian from Montreal, Quebec’s melodic death metal outfit ASHES OF EDEN. We knew that Francois Mongrain (MARTYR) couldn’t make it on some tours with EX DEO even before we asked him to perform on the album...we needed a person that could be there when called upon for touring. Dano has good stage experience and will serve Rome's conquest proudly!
"I would also like to also dismiss any claim that EX DEO is part of any Christian based band or beliefs. These are false allegations of people who have obviously not educated themselves with history. Rome was part of Polytheism beliefs, in other words, it was pagan, the belief in multiple gods, not Christianity until Emperor Constantine declared the Christian religion legal in Rome. That was the biggest mistake they ever made, it was the start of the fall of Rome and its ideals of free thinking, and for those who dismiss these things as something of the 'past,' well let me tell you that you live in the results of those past events and your way of thinking is based on it, and all the freedoms you take for granted. HAIL ROME!"
Dysrhythmia are currently streaming a new preview track, "Room Of Vertigo," from their forthcoming album "Psychic Maps" online via the band's MySpace page. "Psychic Maps" will see its CD and LP release on July 7th in North America, July 13th internationally.
Halford has been shown as a stylish person in the form of the way he takes care of his metal appearance. There is a need to be very distinctive when representing an image of a Metal God to the audience as he wants his personal feelings about the line of apparel to become imbedded within it. The singer’s clothing line shows a need to be different in the form of displaying different imagery of crosses and other things that vary from his own normal attire.
The naming of the clothing is pretty excellent with things like “Sad Wings” that should be familiar to his fans. There will be a whole line of clothing from the normal t-shirts to pants and shoes as well. Furthermore, the creation of his line of clothing goes along nicely with the starting of his own Metal God Records label this year.

During this session the band used acoustic guitars and clean vocals for the first time ever.
"The new frontman - Quazzarre has perfectly fit his role and recorded incredibly interesting and variated vocal parts. 'N.O.I.R' - Because that's the new album's title consists of 3 new songs and 2 covers: Immortal - Blashyrk (Mighty Ravendark) and an unusual as for Crionics cover of Rammstein - Moskau which features guest vocal appearance of Peter of Vader and Vogg of Decapitated on Accordion and Acoustic Guitar. My America has issued the following statement about streaming a new demo song online at their MySpace page:
"We probably should have done this a long time ago, but better late than never I always say! You can check and see EXACTLY what we are doing at any given time by going here and visiting us on some site called Twatter.
"We also posted a new song that we had originally self-recorded for our own personal use but we have now decided to share it with the public due to its timely lyrical content. The song is called 'Swindled' and it's about the Avian Swine S.A.R.S Flu that's been going around and snatching people up lately. This one is for you guys.
"This song and a handful of others will comprise our next release that we hope to have out late this summer or in the fall. More details on this will come throughout this summer. So keep your board shorts on bro!"

Dark Funeral has issued the following update about canceling their appearance at the Unholy Fest:
"Just like countless of other bands, we have, unfortunately, also been forced cancel our show at the Unholy Fest. It actually seems like this festival was never going happen in the first place, and just a big scam already from the beginning. The promoter seems to have disappeared from the surface of the earth, whereof we, and as it seems, also many other bands, simply have no other option but to cancel.
"This sure sucks for us, who were really looking forward to this show, as much as we know it does for all of you who already have purchased tickets and made arrangement for the fest. We do hope that all of you who have bought tickets will be fully refunded by the organizer though! More...
DevilDriver has issued the following announcement about offering fans the chance to ask the band a question:
"Do you have a burning question about the new album PRAY FOR VILLAINS? Or just a question you have always wanted to put to the band that none of the interviews you have read or heard have ever put to the band? Would you like the opportunity to put that question to Dez??
"Then NOW is your chance! www.roadrunnerrecords.co.uk is giving you the chance to put a question to Dez in this months ASK THE ARTIST. For the full details on how you can get your question to Dez, Click here!"

We thank you for understanding during this difficult time and we definitely plan to be back to Italy and Belgium sometime soon to make it up to you"

The band itself has nothing to do with this mishap, and we sadly regret this inconvenience for all our fans. We are determined to make this up to you with one or more shows in the same region at some later point. We will keep you posted!"
SHADOWS FALL has announced "Retribution" as the title of their fifth full-length album, which is set for a September 15 street date. The album, a follow-up to 2007’s critically acclaimed "Threads of Life," will be released on the band’s own label, Everblack Industries, which was created in conjunction with Warner Music Group’s ILG, Ferret Music, and ChannelZERO Entertainment. For more information on Everblack Industries, visit everblackindustries.com. The new album was produced by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Municipal Waste), with vocal production by Elvis Baskette (Incubus, Alter Bridge).
Singer Brian Fair commented on the band’s venture: “We learned everything from the ground up. We’ve gone through the independent metal world to the major label world, and have come to realize that, given the way things are now, it’s all about the band re-taking control of everything: music, business, ownership, publishing. Everything.”
Fans can now sign up for the SHADOWS FALL mailing list and street team at Reverbnation, where exclusive downloads are now available for all members.
The band called on design company Sons of Nero (Unearth, Every Time I Die, Bring Me The Horizon) for the cover art for "Retribution."
The complete tracklisting for "Retribution" follows: More...
Canada's Aeternam has joined the Metal Blade roster. Formed in 2007 in Quebec City, Aeternam has been preparing to unleash their very own brand of epic death metal upon the world. Combining classic death metal songwriting with epic melodic soloing and middle-eastern influences, Aeternam has fine-tuned its craft and made it into a perfect blend of brutality and melody. Their first studio release, "Disciples of the Unseen," was produced by mastermind JeF Fortin (Neuraxis, The Last Felony). The album contains ten tracks that should please fans of Behemoth, Nile and Melechesh. You can see the band lay down tracks for the album in the video below and check out some of their music on their MySpace player.
Aeternam comments: "We are very excited and proud to see our debut album come out on Metal Blade and what could be more fitting for us to be label mates with such bands as Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse. A lot of inspiration and work went into creating Disciples of the Unseen and we cannot wait to present it to the worldwide metal scene. We'll soon be on the road to promote the album and we can't wait to bring this monster to the stage."
“This is one of those rare bands that was an absolute no brainer for us to bring on board and has everyone at Metal Blade unanimously excited about the possibilities. The sheer amount of talent and creativity inherent in this band is refreshing. We look forward to working together on this and many future albums!” Metal Blade Records
Aeternam will be supporting now label mates, Behemoth, at their June 29th show in Montreal, QC at Le Medley.

Jeff Potts, guitarist for the Pittsburgh metal band MANTIC RITUAL has sent in the following tour update:
“For those of you who don't hablo español – ‘No Jeff, it's 'habla'’ - ... Thanks Adam. For those of you who don't habla español, the title of this blog roughly translates to ‘Pro-Pain/Sworn Enemy Tour update number one.’
“With that out of the way, let us bring you up to speed. We spent the last ten days in the southeastern part of the U.S. and we just finished the show in Baltimore. We've had a lot of fun so far and made plenty of new friends and fans. Being back in the van, rather than on the bus like on the last tour, gives us plenty of opportunities to get to know the fine folks who come out to our shows and offer us a place to stay for the night (*hint, hint* to the people coming out to the rest of the shows on this tour). Possibly the most interesting place we've stayed so far was on a military base in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Let's hear it for 3-year-olds that rock out and air-guitar to an entire Iron Maiden DVD - good times.
“Just letting everyone know: Much like the tickets at Waynestock, there are still plenty of dates left on this tour. We hope to see you at the shows and party at your house. Remember, in the words of Jim Morrison – ‘If you book us, we will come.’
“Until then, ‘Party on, Adam!’
“‘Party on, Jeff!’”
