SOiL has pretty much been in hibernation writing for a new album since we got home from 13 months of touring in mid-June! We are excited to say that we are about 3/4 of the way finished with the writing process and will be heading back into the studio in early 2008! The new songs are sounding awesome and we can't wait to get them out for everyone to hear!

All that being said, look for new SOiL tour dates around mid-08."

Sepultura Frontman Issues Another Tour Report

SEPULTURA frontman Derrick Green has posted the third entry in an ongoing tour diary covering the band's first-ever appearance in India. It reads as follows:

"Day 3 - October 28, 2007 New Delhi: It's show day and there is some time before soundcheck to see another landmark in New Delhi history. We decide to go to a place call the Red Fort which is close to the hotel and we can go from there straight to soundcheck.

"It's Sunday and traffic is not too bad we make are way to the Red Fort where there is a huge line of men and a separate line with women. There is always heavy security at historical monuments due to fear of terrorist attacks. The metal detector is made of wood and it looks like it might have been made in a 6th grade science competition. I'm not sure it really works but they pat everyone down and place all bags through an x-ray machine.

"The fort is enormous and is laid out along the river Yamuna as an irregular octagon built of red sandstone. It was completed in 1648 and the Mughal king at the time transferred his capital from Agra to Delhi, Agra is the city here the Taj Mahal is located and we plan on going the next day.

"We walk around taking pictures and bargaining in the market area which is located inside the fort. We don't have a guide this time but there are signs that are explaining a little bit the history of the place.

"Time passes quickly and we have to get on our way to the soundcheck, shows start early in India due to a noise curfew.
"The area we are are performing is outside and is surrounded many different places. There is a kids museum with a large missile propped up on top of the building and a banquet hall for weddings and parties.

"I'm not too worried about our soundcheck. Stanley, our sound engineer, assures us that he will make it work. The waiting around is the worst part — I want to play, I want to see the crowd and feel their energy.

"There is something very special about playing a place for the first time. It's a show that you and the fans will never forget and I have no idea what to expect.

"The dressing room has two air conditioners pumping freezing cold air and outside the room there are millions of mosquito's ready to feed. I stretch and listening to the opening band keep the power of the cow bell alive.

"It's showtime and I have a wonderful energy flowing through me we came a long way to play and I don't want to let anyone down. The crowd are absolutely fantastic there energy is insane and the barricades begin to break down. There are various mosh pits breaking out and extra people are called to reinforce the barricades. People are singing along to old and new songs and from looking into the eyes of the crowd you can see that the show is fully appreciated, it's an unbelievable feeling for all of us.

"Once we are off the stage we are put into a car heading back to the hotel and I feel doped up with a super natural high plus a feeling of absolute exhaustion. I can't help but thinking over and over in my head we did it we finally played India our first show and two more to go, it's surreal and I'm in love with this place.

"Day 4 - October 29, 2007 Agra: Today is our day trip to the Taj Mahal and we are told that it will take over four hours. We pile into a bus early in the morning and slam right into a wall of traffic.

"The hardest part is getting out of the city. It's an overload of sights, smells and sound that I have never seen before in my life.

"The road to Agra is a two-lane highway with people traveling by trucks, bus, bicycle it doesn't matter people are everywhere.

"We encounter snake charmers on the way and people with monkeys who make them do tricks on a stick. People do what ever they can to make money for food for survival.

"Once we arrive in the city Of Agra there is even more chaos on the way to the Taj Mahal. When ever the bus stops people instantly run to the side of the bus tasking for money or to sell items or just staring intensely.

"There are many children on the streets and there ability to survive is crucial. There are some that have taught themselves to speak a little bit in different languages in order to be more effective at selling there product. Some of them wear bright colored shirts and give themselves easy to remember names in English to help remind you when you come back from the the Taj Mahal that you do not for get them and buy from them.

"There are people entering from all over the world and many have come from a long way like us. The mood of everyone seems to be of joy and happiness

"It's so overwhelming walking into area of the Taj, I even have goosebumps! The view looks like a huge mirage it's fascinating there is nothing that exist or will exist like this ever again. If there is such a thing as true perfection this is it and we are all drawn to walk towards it. The energy pulls you in.

"We have a guide who explains the history of the Taj Mahal which is a love story filled with tragedy and romance. To walk on the marble part of the Taj and to enter it your shoes must be taken off or covered with this shoe cloth they provide. It's dark inside and hot because the cross ventilation was sealed with glass to prevent pigeons from entering and destroying the inside which is preserved as it was back when it was constructed. There is a mosque to left of the Taj Mahal and you can hear the praying over the mosque speakers. People are sitting all around everywhere enjoying the atmosphere of the area and then there are some people who are asking for photographs of me because I look like a freak to them ahah! It's not a problem for me — the people are very friendly and then a group of people approach us and the one girl has a SEPULTURA tattoo on her leg. The girl is shaking and asks to take a picture of all of us. She and her friends are from Australia. There were a few more people who recognized us after that, which is insane; I never would have guessed this could happen at the Taj Mahal of all places.

"We leave to head back to New Delhi and the final question that was put to the guide which he didn't say much about was what happened to the workers. 1,000 of the workers after the completion of the Taj Mahal had there hands cut off along with their eyes blinded and tongues cut off by the Mughal ruler who had the Taj Mahal built. The reason why was to prevent them from every rebuilding a duplicate of the Taj Mahal or even speaking of it, I knew there had to be dark side to this story."

In a recent interview with Romania's Metalhead TV, SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser stated about the band's current touring/recording plans, "Our intention, really, is to play as much as we can to prepare this band to start writing new material. So we're gonna start writing a new album at the end of the year, hopefully to release next year, sometime in the second [half of 2008]."

Back in March, SEPULTURA filmed the second video from their "Dante XXI" album, for the song "Ostia". The clip was shot at a studio in São Paulo prior to the band's departure for their European tour. During the following week, the video crew and the main actor shot the outdoor scenes in downtown São Paulo. The script, which adapts the story from the book "The Divine Comedy" to the modern days, was directed by Geraldo Moraes.

Into Eternity Begin Work On Concept Album

Extreme progressive metal leaders INTO ETERNITY have completed the touring cycle for their highly acclaimed album, "The Scattering of Ashes", and are currently hard at work on material for their much-anticipated new recording, which guitarist/vocalist Tim Roth says will be the group's first conceptual album.

"The Scattering of Ashes" campaign saw the band embark on five North American tours with highlights including an appearance on Gigantour performing alongside MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD, but it was this past summer's tour alongside DREAM THEATER that really saw the band reach out to a new audience.

Roth states: "We are officially done touring for 'The Scattering of Ashes'. We ended up doing 150 shows and being away for close to 200 days of the year! The whole band did a great job, as it's not always easy being away from home for so long, but I think it's important to do it the old-school way and tour as much as we can. No one can say we're a lazy band!" More...

The Acacia Strain Add Second Guitar Player

Western Massachusetts' purveyors of all things heavy, THE ACACIA STRAIN, have confirmed the addition of Jonathan Dennison (Unholy, Another Victim, Path of Resistance, Santa Sangre). The band will depart for a headlining tour later this fall with support coming from Despised Icon, Full Blown Chaos and The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza.

"I couldn't be happier with our decision," comments THE ACACIA STRAIN frontman Vincent Bennett. "In my eyes, J.D. is the ideal choice. Everyone is really excited to have him on board and we can't wait to see what he has to offer this band. We're wicked excited for this tour. I've wanted to tour with all of these bands forever, and we finally are. We are going to be playing some songs that we haven't played in forever or haven't been able to play due to the lack of a second guitar and will be showcasing a new song or two. Sorry to our friends in the Great White North though, we are seriously trying to stay away from those dangerous snow-covered roadways. I promise we will make it up to you when the warmer weather hits. See everyone in November and December!" More...

Dimmu Borgir Dedicate Show To Decapitated Drummer

Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR have commented on the passing of DECAPITATED drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka, who died in a Russian hospital from injuries sustained in a recent road collision. He was 23 years old.

"Let it be known that we are shocked and saddened to hear about Vitek's passing," DIMMU BORGIR said in a statement. "Our condolences to his family and the other DECAPITATED members. We will be playing for him tonight [at Teatria in Oulu, Finland]. We wish Adrian 'Covan' Kowanek a quick recovery!"

Vitek and DECAPITATED singer Covan (real name: Adrian Kowanek) were hurt in an accident earlier in the week involving DECAPITATED's tour bus and a truck carrying wood in Gomel, on the Russia/Belarus border. Both musicians reportedly sustained serious head injuries in the collision, which is believed to have been the fault of the band's driver (although this has not yet been officially confirmed).

According to the Polish Internet portal Onet.pl, Vitek underwent trepanation, a form of surgery in which a hole is drilled or scraped into the skull, and was due to be transported to a hospital in Krakow, Poland for further treatment.

Covan's family released a statement yesterday (Thursday, November 1) that the vocalist's condition had improved. At the time, the vocalist was still said to be at a hospital in Novozybkov, Russia, where he and Vitek were taken following the accident.

10 Years Announce New Album Title

The Pulse of Radio reports: 10 YEARS has announced "Division" as the title of its sophomore effort, with the album's release date tentatively set for March 4, 2008. The first single from the disc will be "Just Can't Win", while another tune titled "Focus" was co-written with former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS and ARMY OF ANYONE guitarist Dean DeLeo. The band began recording the new CD in late June after spending the better part of a year writing, and bassist Lewis Cosby told The Pulse of Radio it wasn't an easy process. "This whole making of this album was a mess, and calling this record 'Division', like, you've got five completely different personalities," he said. "You know, we play in a band and we know each other forwards and backwards but, you know, outside of that, like, we're five completely, completely different people. And, you know, you've got five guys coming in here to make an album, and it's like pulling teeth there for a little while."

"Division" will follow up the band's 2005 debut, "The Autumn Effect".

10 YEARS is currently on tour with SEVENDUST and plays in Rochester, New York on Friday (November 2). Following its stint with SEVENDUST, 10 YEARS will continue on the road next month with PAPA ROACH.

Just For Fun

Rock Classics Performed As "Handfarts"

Gerry "Jerry" Phillips, a self-described "manualist" or "hand musician" who has been playing songs on his hands for 38 years, has posted his rendition of the OZZY OSBOURNE classic "Crazy Train" on YouTube. Watch that clip, along with some of Gerry's other "classics," below.

Phillips writes on his YouTube page: "People ask me why I play music on my hands. The answer is, because I can! When I was 9 years old, I went to a party. The photographer (to keep us quiet) farted with his hands. I could do it right away. I soon found notes, then simple songs, now I can play just about everything. I'm happy making videos and featuring them on YouTube where people like you can see them! I don't expect everyone to like what I do, but if you think about it, there is no new music. Everything has been done in one way or another. But I am new and different. Singing, humming, whistling and playing an instrument are not the only ways of making music. The only people who have ever truly appreciated what I do are musicians. They tell me in terms I don't understand what I have just done. I just play the song! I think what they think is cool is that i don't have to pack up and drag equipment! What I am interested in doing is performing to a large live audience just to see their reaction and to play a song with some of my heroes who wrote and performed my favorite songs." More...

Suicide Silence Film New Video

SUICIDE SILENCE joined up with acclaimed director David Brodsky (GWAR, THE RED CHORD) this past weekend to shoot a new video for the track "Bludgeoned To Death". The clip is set to capture the band’s unrelenting, frenetic stage energy and look for a special making of the video to be released online in the coming weeks.

SUICIDE SILENCE just kicked off the Hot Topic-sponsored "The Dawn of Destruction" tour, which is a massive headlining U.S. run that is not to be missed. Joining them on this trek are A LIFE ONCE LOST, WALLS OF JERICHO and THE AGONY SCENE. This massive North American assault features a devastating lineup from top to bottom and this fan-friendly, affordably-priced tour is easily going to be one of the most talked about packages going out this fall.

Mark Heylmun (guitars) states: "We just kicked off a headlining run with A LIFE ONCE LOST, WALLS OF JERICHO and THE AGONY SCENE, which we've been excited about for awhile. We're stoked these awesome bands are out with us and hope all the freaks, geeks and headbangers will come party with us. We’re gonna be adding some new shit to the set as well, so come check it out! We also just shot a video for 'Bludgeoned To Death' in Brooklyn with David Brodsky, which was grueling but cool. Since we can't get gnarly in our videos without people saying its too violent or gruesome Dave managed to tame it down a bit while still getting the best out of us. We rocked as hard as we could for a good portion of that day in a dusty basement and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Keep it real and hopefully we will see you soon."

HeavyMetalSource.com conducted an interview with SUICIDE SILENCE vocalist Mitch Lucker and guitarist Mark Heylmun on October 28, 2007 in New Haven, Connecticut. Watch the nine-minute clip below.

SUICIDE SILENCE made a huge statement to the metal world in September as its highly acclaimed debut offering, "The Cleansing", entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #94 (with first-week sales of 7,100), which marks the highest debut ever for a new Century Media artist. More...

Classic Led Zeppelin Tickets Available

LedZeppelinTickets.com is offering LED ZEPPELIN fans a chance to own a super-collectible ticket plaque featuring tickets from ZEPPELIN's slated performances at Chicago Stadium in November of 1980.

Devout fans know the unfortunate and tragic story of the late and great John Bonham. On September 24, 1980, it was announced by Chicago radio stations that tickets for four ZEPPELIN shows (November 10, 12, 13 & 15) would be going on sale the next day via a special mail-order form in the Chicago Tribune. On the day of sale, the excitement was extinguished as fans would learn of the sudden and tragic passing of John Bonham. The shows never happened, yet these tickets were printed for these appearances. The original ZEPPELIN as we knew it was done...

In 1986, Metro Pulse Inc. acquired them from Chicago Stadium and the rest is (even more...) history.

Earlier this year, VH1 Classic was so impressed with the offering that they did a major promotion with LedZeppelinTickets.com in conjunction with the station's airing of the classic movie, "The Song Remains The Same". Dozens of lucky winners now possess a rare ticket plaque as a result.

In addition, the ticket plaques were featured giveaways on the popular nationally-syndicated radio show, "Nights with Alice Cooper". The show's contest generated more than 1,700 entries and was easily the show's most popular contest to date.

Alice Cooper Comments On "The Osbournes"

According to Urban Music Culture, rock legend ALICE COOPER has blamed OZZY OSBOURNE's reality TV show for ruining the BLACK SABBATH star's career. Cooper, 59, feels reality TV show The Osbournes destroyed all of the mystique surrounding the star and left fans disappointed with an unexpected insight into the rocker's life. He says, "Most fans thought he lived in a big, dark castle with skeletons in the cellar. When that show aired they knew he was just some guy who potters around his Beverly Hills mansion. It was meant to be some kind of comedy but the audience was laughing at Ozzy, not with him. And as a close friend, that made me very sad."

Arch Enemy Guitarist Speaks On New Album

PyroMusic.net has issued an interview with ARCH ENEMY guitarist Mike Amott, conducted by Spiritech. The following is an excerpt from the chat:

Q: To my ears the new album possesses some of your heaviest material in some time, yet also some of your most melodic moments. Is that something you aimed to do with the album?

A: "Yeah, we wanted to make something that was quite over the top. I don't know, to me, Doomsday Machine and Anthems Of Rebellion were of a certain style, we were in a certain zone as a band writing wise, production and everything. We just wanted to break that trend and do something a little different: that's why we went to a different studio, different engineer, different underwear! (laughs) I've been wearing the same underwear for two albums."

M.A.N Rethink Working Title For New Album

M.A.N, the act featuring MNEMIC frontman Tony Jelencovich and members of TRANSPORT LEAGUE, check in with the following:

"We had an idea and we used Swastika Sweetheart as a working title for our upcoming album, but we feel now that we have to reject it. The "swastika" word is just too much connected to Nazi Germany in modern time and it will just be too offensive for our working partners, which we don't want."

"The title was meant to be a paradox between "swastika" and "sweetheart", just like the band name MARILYN MANSON etc, but it will be too offensive."

"So we are by this statement rejecting it. The upcoming M.A.N album is therefore yet-untitled." More...

Rage and At Vance Cancel South American Tour

According to a posting on the web site of the German metallers AT VANCE, the group's previously announced South American tour with RAGE "was cancelled by the promoters." The band adds, "We are truly sorry for all our South American fans! However, it's beyond our powers if promoters don't do their jobs in a professional way and thereby prevent concerts of foreign bands from happening. We are confident that the future will bring better conditions, so we can work with trustworthy promoters and be able to play shows for our South American fans!"

AT VANCE released its new album, "VII", in the U.S. on August 28 via Locomotive Records. The CD was issued in Europe in June through AFM Records. The group's seventh effort marks the debut of new singer Rick Altzi and features the band's "very own interpretation on neo-classical power metal that crosses elegantly with the true spirit of '80s hard rock," according to a press release.

AT VANCE recently announced the addition of bassist Manuel Walther and drummer Alex Landenburg to the group's ranks.

Decapitated Drummer Dead At 23

Drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka of the Polish extreme metal band DECAPITATED passed away in a Russian hospital from injuries sustained in a recent road collision. He was 23 years old.

Ozzy Osbourne Speaks On North Dakota Party Sting

Since when does the lure of an OZZY OSBOURNE concert become the impetus for a sting operation by one local sheriff?

That's what an outraged Osbourne would like to know after the events that transpired Monday, October 29 before his show at the Fargodome in Fargo, ND.

As masterminded by Paul D. Laney, a local county sheriff — under the name of PDL Productions — this is how the sting was set up, all without Osbourne's knowledge:

Sheriff Laney took the liberty of planning an Ozzy Osbourne pre-show concert party by offering the very same perks included in Ozzy's "official" VIP tour packages including two tickets to 40 unsuspecting citizens who received the PDL invites by mail.

When the "winners" showed up at the bash, they were promptly handcuffed and arrested on various outstanding warrants. Sheriff Laney quickly held a televised press conference to congratulate himself on the successful sting operation.

"Instead of holding a press conference to pat himself on the back," says Osbourne, "Sheriff Laney should be apologizing to me for using my name in connection with these arrests. It's insulting to me and to my audience and it shows how lazy this particular sheriff is when it comes to doing his job."

Adds Ozzy, "Sheriff Laney went out of his way to tarnish my reputation by implying that I somehow attract a criminal element, which is certainly not true. My audiences are good hard-working people who have been hugely supportive of my music for nearly four decades. They have also been very supportive of my wife Sharon's colon cancer charity by raising over a million dollars (partly through VIP ticket sales) at my shows. It's obvious to me that this sheriff has an agenda and is just trying to make a name for himself on my back."

Despite his comments about Sheriff Laney's sting operation, Ozzy harbors no ill will to the people of Fargo and hopes to return there under more favorable circumstances.

Ozzy's New Album To Be Rereleased This Month

OZZY OSBOURNE will have his new album, "Black Rain", reissued on November 20 as a "Special Limited-Edition Tour Package" featuring a bonus CD of live tracks and B-sides. The bonus CD includes the following cuts:

01. I Don't Wanna Stop (live)
02. Not Going Away (live)
03. Here For You (live)
04. Nightmare
05. Can't Save You
06. Love To Hate

"Black Rain" has sold 406,000 copies in the United States since its May 2007 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

In an interview with Australia's Herald Sun published earlier today, Ozzy Osbourne made it clear that he wasn't too happy about the effect of downloading on the music industry. He said, "I've been suffering terribly from people downloading ['Black Rain']. If they don't find something to stop it, people won't be able to make records. There won't be any new bands. How are they going to survive? I'm an old-timer, I've been doing it 40 years now, but new bands are going to suffer. It's ridiculous, you could be doing it for nothing. Sharon said I'd be astounded to find out how many bands are touring because you can download a record but you can't beat a rock show."

As previously reported, Ozzy Osbourne's official web site is currently hosting a poll for fans to vote on what song should be the next single from his "Black Rain" CD. There are three tracks to choose from: "Black Rain" (currently with 51% of the votes), "Civilize the Universe" (12%) and "Here for You" (36%).

"Black Rain" was reissued in August by Epic in a new jewel-case package containing the full booklet with lyrics and new color cover art and photos. It also contains CD extra bonus content featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the "Black Rain" photo shoot.

"Black Rain", which originally came out on May 22, was released in "eco-friendly" packaging, with the CD sleeve made out of recycled paper. In addition, the record came out without a booklet to further save paper, with the lyrics, credits and other inside material available to buyers of the CD at SonyMusic.com.

"Black Rain" features several songs based on current events and the state of the world in general. But Osbourne told The Pulse of Radio that he hasn't turned into an "issues-oriented" artist. "Believe me, I've not suddenly woken up and I'm sane," he said. "But I'm not one of these guys that can write about boy-meets-girl and, I mean, it's got to mean something to me. I don't write all the lyrics, but I have to say, 'Well, you know, isn't that strange that that happened when this happened,' you know, and I'll get going, you know."

"Black Rain" debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album

Alice Cooper Talks About U.K. Tour

The Sun recently conducted an interview with ALICE COOPER about a number of topics including his upcoming UK tour with MOTÖRHEAD and JOAN JETT. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

The Sun: You're calling the new show Psychodrama. What can we expect?

Alice: "It's a BIG production! My daughter, Calico, plays all the secondary parts. She's a Chinese assassin, a ballerina, a nanny with a baby and five or six other parts. And the gallows — I haven't done the hanging in a long, long time and I forgot how difficult it was. And I've decided to make it more dangerous this time. Instead of just doing the hanging I said 'why don't we hang Alice IN the straitjacket?'"

The Sun: Didn't you say "never again" with the gallows, after a close call here?

Alice: "It was at Wembley — that was the only time it broke and I went through the floor and hit my chin. It was like getting a left hook from Roberto Duran. As soon as I felt the noose on my neck I threw my head back. I got a nice rope burn but, if I'd gone the other way, it would have been a different story."

The Sun: If we could go back to Alice in 1973 and tell him that, 34 years later, he'd still be releasing albums and playing arenas, how would he react?

Alice: "He'd say: 'Not in this condition!' Every rock star gets to a point where they've got to go left or right. They're either going to die — the Hendrix, Morrison, Moon route - or they're going to go on. I'm in better shape now than I was at 29. Life's good — and I'm a four handicap too, you can't beat that!"
