Roadrunner veterans Machine Head are currently ensconced inside Sharkbite Studios, in Oakland, California, for the recording of their sixth studio album, The Blackening, which will be released worldwide in spring 2007.
Regarding the long awaited follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed Through the Ashes of Empires, vocalist and guitarist Robb Flynn states: "This is the most ambitious thing we have ever attempted. We all challenged ourselves and each other to write a record that pushed the boundaries of complexity and technical structure. The nature of what is happening in the world led to a darker, bleaker album in every sense."
Light This City Replace If Hope Dies On Tour
Bay Area thrashers LIGHT THIS CITY have joined forces with labelmates Through The Eyes of the Dead and The Acacia Strain along with From A Second Story Window, replacing If Hope Dies on the upcoming Through The Eyes of the Dead headlining tour. Sponsored by Draven Shoes and Decibel magazine, the tour will cross the US from November 16 - December 17 and marks LIGHT THIS CITY's return to the road after the band's two-month stint on the Spreading The Disease tour alongside Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish and Nights Like These and subsequent three-week run alongside Caliban and The Acacia Strain.
"We are more than excited about getting the opportunity to tour with our good friends in Through the Eyes of the Dead and The Acacia Strain," drummer Ben Murray said. "We have toured with both of those bands in the past and can't wait to join forces again! We'll see all of you guys at the shows. It should be a month of good times."
LIGHT THIS CITY continues to support the band's third release, 'Facing The Thousand,' which was released in September through Prosthetic Records. Produced by Zack Ohren and featuring artwork by Robot Plague's Mario Garza, 'Facing The Thousand' was recorded in March of 2006 and is the follow-up to 2005's 'Remains of the Gods.' The record features a guest vocal appearance by The Black Dahlia Murder's Trevor Strnad on the track "Fear of Heights."

On December 13, Sweden's DREAM EVIL will make its U.S. live debut when it headlines the Century Family's third annual Christmas Balls show at The Key Club in Hollywood. Tickets are on sale now. More performances will be announced in the coming weeks.
Commented Peter Stalfors (bass): "Ever since we released our first album, 'DragonSlayer', we hoped to have the opportunity to perform in the U.S. Over the years, we received tons of mails from fans all over North America, and now at last we have the opportunity to give at least some of you a chance to see us. We are really excited about this and look forward to see you at the Key Club in Los Angeles, when it's finally time to show the U.S. what we’ve got. We will play songs from our new album, 'United', along with a ton of oldies as well, so we hope you are ready for a full-on metal onslaught."
"United" was recorded at Sweden's famed Studio Fredman with DREAM EVIL guitarist and legendary producer Fredrik Nordström (ARCH ENEMY, OPETH, AT THE GATES). The limited-edition first pressing of "United" includes a bonus second CD containing five exclusive, brand new songs.
DREAM EVIL recently completed a video for the new album's opening track, "Fire! Battle! In Metal!", with renowned director Patric Ullaeus (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL).
Deftones 'Saturday Night Wrist' Headed For Top 20
According to Hits Daily Double, DEFTONES' new album, "Saturday Night Wrist", is poised to sell between 70,000 and 80,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to land in the Top 20 of The Billboard 200 chart. The final first-week numbers will be released on Wednesday, November 8.
DEFTONES began work on the disc with PINK FLOYD, ALICE COOPER and JANE'S ADDICTION producer Bob Ezrin, but that relationship did not pan out and the band parted ways with Ezrin in the midst of recording.
"Saturday Night Wrist" follows DEFTONES' self-titled 2003 album and includes the new single "Hole in the Earth".
The group will be featured on the Family Values Tour 2006 CD and DVD, which are both due out on December 26.
DEFTONES began a headlining U.S. tour last week and plays tonight (November 2) in Seattle. The band recently added new dates in five cities, including a second night in Los Angeles on November 10, a Las Vegas show on November 11, a San Antonio stop on November 18, a Boston gig on December 1 and a New York concert on December 5.
Incantation Cancel First Two Dates of Tour
The first two dates of Incantation’s tour, which was scheduled to begin November 1, have been cancelled but the remainder of the tour will go on as scheduled.
The two cancelled dates are November 1 in Southgate, Mich., and November 2 in Heath, Ohio.
“We have no reason except that the booking agent said they lost contact with both promoters and the clubs themselves didn’t know about the shows,” said guitarist/vocalist John McEntee.
The death metal legends are touring with Internal Suffering and Year of Desolation in support of their recently-released seventh album, “Primordial Domination.”
“Primordial Domination” was released September 5 on Ibex Moon Records. The record sticks to Incantation’s tried and true recipe for brutal death metal, which has earned the band a reputation as one of the most important bands in the genre.

Blood Red Throne Studio Update
Norwegian death metallers Blood Red Throne have been working in Jailhouse studio for the last 2 days on a pre production for the new album due out on Earache early 2007. 70% of the material is written and the band started pre production to test both the studio and the two new members, Anders Haave (drums) and Vald (vocals). 4 songs have been recorded so far and the band is extremely pleased with both the material and the sound.
"This time, we aim for a more classic Death Metal sound, ala Gorguts "Considered Dead" / Suffocation "Despise the Sun" kind of sound. We have grown tired with the over-produced and fully triggered drum kits that so many bands use today, besides we have taken a slightly new direction with our music and the analog and dynamic sound fits the music better. We have also chosen a different approach to the recording process of the instruments. We are very pleased with the outcome of the 4 songs and cant wait till the actual album recording starts, hopefully sometime in December".
Some working titles of the forthcoming songs: "Rebirth in Blood", "Come Death" and "No New beginning".
