Machines At War Tour Report

The show for Friday, Nov 17th, was slated for 8 pm and based on previous experience at the Palladium in Worcester, MA I figured I'd show up around 8.30. Alas, when I got in Hypocrisy were just starting their set, which meant I had missed Decapitated. The place was already quite full and the floor was almost jam- packed. When I first heard of this tour's lineup, I wasn't sure about the crossing point between the fans and how well they'd mix together but luckily the bands had a good number of devoted fans and one could easily mistake who the headliner is based on the crowd's cheering. Interview With Pandemic's Julian Kidd

PANDEMIC is a progressive thrash metal act from Sonoma county. The band is set to release a full length album soon and turn up the tour dial up to eleven around the Southern California area in support of it. Halford Post New Song Available For Streaming

A brand new HALFORD song, entitled "Forgotten Generation", has been made available for streaming at MP3.com. The track, which was officially released yesterday (Tuesday, November 21) via iTunes, is the first new HALFORD song in more than four years. Rob Halford wrote the tune and another new cut, "Drop Out", with the HALFORD band this year during downtime from working with JUDAS PRIEST on their upcoming album "Nostradamus". "We just thought it would be nice to offer fans an earful of new HALFORD stuff and let everybody know we're still around," he said, according to MTV.com. Both new tracks will be available on "Halford: Metal God Essentials - Volume 1", which comes out November 28. The album will contain 15 songs spanning Halford's solo career and will also be available exclusively through iTunes. Also on November 28, Halford will release the entire HALFORD catalog ("Resurrection", "Live Insurrection" and "Crucible"), plus the FIGHT demo "K5 the War of Words Demos". Interview

Interview With Hostile Takeover's Kevin Raposo

Boston's HOSTILE TAKEOVER is one of beantown's more talented upcoming metal acts that features in its skilled lineup Ricardo Matos on vocals, Kevin Raposo on drums, Matthew Freeman on lead Guitar, Dustin LaRose on guitar and Serg on bass guitar. They cite Pantera, Lamb Of God, Shadows Fall and Unearth as their primary influences and it shows. They pay a direct homage to the bands before them without watering their sound down with pop sensibilities to try and land on the next cover of "Hey, I wear makeup and bracelets' rock magazine. These guys are committed to planting the true metal flag back in the soil it sprouted from and based off the unrelenting and heavy as hell songs they're dropping on everyone right now, they look to be one of the brightest acts rising from out of the east. I tracked down their drummer, Kevin Raposo for this Q&A session. More...

Interview

Interview with Ol' Dirty Bailey Of Liquid Violence

LIQUID VIOLENCE on Rut Records is a throwback thrash/punk metal band that is starting to catch a buzz and no, I'm not talking about their beer drinking habits. This trio is simply hardcore to the bone and features Bess on drums, Andy 13 on bass and Ol' Dirty Bailey on guitars and vocals. They have been slamming the rounds of one east coast venue after the next and are working on taking their game now to the next level and plan on breaking a few necks if that's what they gotta do. I am pleased to bring all of you this Q&A with their frontman without a tude, Ol' Dirty Bailey. More...

Dark Tranquillity Finish New Album

Dark Tranquillity Have posted the following update on their myspace page:

"I can´t believe it....We made it! It´s done and there is nothing I can do about it. Just got back from the studio where everything is now shipped off to Denmark where Tue Madsen will perform his magicky magic on the things we´ve been working on these last 7 weeks.

I just finished the last vocal lines a couple of days ago and it feels sweet. As always with recordings there is alot of stress and selfdoubt but being in a more than familiar environment in Martin's studio (Rogue) has helped tremendously. The recordings have not only been smooth and focused but the overall feeling that we are creating something amazing has really driven us through this. More...

Naglfar Finish Recording New Album, "Harvest"

Swedish black metal titans NAGLFAR have finished recording their new album, "Harvest", tentatively due in early 2007 via Century Media Records. The band has issued the following update:

"Of course there were plenty of problems, including a broken guitar amp. But finally the guitars and vocals are done, thus making us ready for the mixing of the album. We'll start with this on Monday the 26th of November. Some changes and additions have been made in the songs so the final and offical tracklist will be posted [on the band's official web site] soon."

"Harvest" will tentatively include the following "attacks of audial terror" (in no particular order):

01. Into the Black
02. Prayer of Cain
03. The Way of the Rope
04. Harvest
05. Feeding Moloch
06. The Mirrors of My Soul
07. Wargod
08. Plutonium Reveries
09. Odium Generis Humani

NAGLFAR's latest album, "Pariah", is available now on Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Sheol" was previously described in a Century Media press release as "a flawless work of iniquitous hell-spawned art filled with raging guitar riffs, bludgeoning drums, demonic vocals, that combine with haunting melodies to capture hell's eternal depravity."
