Snot To Reform Under The Name Invitro
Three out of five members of the legendary Santa Barbara metal/punk rock hybrid SNOT — guitarists Mikey Doling (ex-SOULFLY), Sonny Mayo (SEVENDUST) and bassist John Fahnestock (KCUF, AMEN) — reunited for the first time since the passing of SNOT frontman Lynn Strait. Mayo and Fahnestock joined Doling and his new band INVITRO for a cover of SNOT's "Stoopid" during their November 1, 2006 performance at Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California.
SNOT frontman Lynn Strait died in a car accident in 1998, putting an end to a career that generated considerable promise but only one studio album, the 1997 Geffen Records release "Get Some". Also killed was the band's mascot Dobbs, Strait's dog who adorned the cover of SNOT's debut album. The band had been recording their sophomore album and had completed 10 songs at the time of Strait's tragic passing.
INVITRO recently finished recording its debut album, which will be released in early 2007 through GridIron Records, a new label founded by Doling, Kyle Turley (offensive tackle for Kansas City Chiefs), Max Harris and former SNOT manager Nic Adler. Audio clips of the band's debut album can be heard at their MySpace page.
Hinder Interview And Acoustic Performance Online

American Head Charge Cancel European Tour
American Head Charge have cancelled the remaining dates on their current European tour after one of the band members has become "quite ill" and hospitalized.
The band is expected to start writing for their next album.
Chris Cornell Live, Acoustic Cover Of Billy Jean
A live, acoustic version of Chris Cornell covering Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" has been posted online. You can download it here while it lasts. A studio version of the song will be included on his upcoming new solo album, which he is putting the final touches on now.
Hell Within To Enter Studio
Hell Within will be entering the studio to record their Lifeforce Records debut. The album, entitled "Shadows of Vanity," is due out in early 2007.
Guitarist Tony Zimmerman made the following statement:
"For the past 7 months we've been busy writing and getting the new Hell Within album ready to record. Finally at the end of this month we will enter Prism Sound Studios in Acton, Ma to start tracking the album under the direction of John Ellis. This will take us about 3 weeks and then the masters are off to Audio Hammer Studios in Orlando FL for Jason Suecof to mix the album. We're very excited about working with these engineers and can't wait to get started. I will tell you the material is sick. In most areas the riffs are so bone crushing that they will send you into a frenzy, but then the songs have their tasteful melodic elements that will bring you back to earth and leave you begging for more. The songs are rock'n in some areas and then face shredding in others. More or less it has the signature Hell Within sound but put 2 years of touring and 2 more years of experience under our belts and you will have the new Hell Within album entitled 'Shadows Of Vanity.'"

Byzantine To Begin Recording, Break For Tour
BYZANTINE will tentatively enter the studio December 8 to record the follow-up to 2005's '...And They Shall Take Up Serpents' before taking a break from the recording process to support God Forbid for two weeks on a tour package also boasting Goatwhore, Mnemic and Arsis. Upon completion of the tour, BYZANTINE will return to the studio to finish recording. Production this time around will again be handled by Aaron Fisher and BYZANTINE for the yet-untitled full-length, due for a 2007 release through Prosthetic Records.
"We have so far 11 songs in the bag and most likely will have 15 penned by the time pre-production starts," vocalist/guitarist OJ Ojeda previously stated. "Normally we write 10 and use 10, but riffs are flowing like mad and all four of us are writing material this time, which has been very interesting. All I can say is if this album doesn't kick our first two albums' asses, something is wrong! Some songs are pure thrash, some songs are off time as hell and some songs are depressing and dark. This album WILL be our finest effort."
In other news, Byzantine will appear on the upcoming EyeHateGod tribute record, 'For The Sick: A Tribute to Eyehategod,' performing the track "Shoplift." The record is currently slated for a Feb. 20 release through Season Mist America.

Slayer Announce Winter N. American Tour
Slayer will hit the road on January 24 for a four-week North American tour. The dates are in support of the band's latest album, "Christ Illusion," this lineup's first new studio album since 1990's "Seasons In The Abyss," and its highest-charting album ever (#5 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart). Unearth will open all shows.
"Over the past few months, we've had a great time headlining 'Unholy Alliance' in North America and Europe, bringing a killer five-act bill to the fans," said Slayer's King. "But we're looking forward to this next tour, where it's just Slayer and Unearthed, playing venues where we can be right in the fans' faces."
These North American dates come on the heels of Slayer's successful international tour which, between August and November, took the band to SRO shows in the UK, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Singapore, Japan, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Denmark and Sweden. While in Germany, the band paid a special visit to the U.S. Troops of the 52nd Services Squadron located on the Spangdahlem U.S. Air Force Base.
