Metallica's 'Ecstasy Of Gold' To Appear On Tribute
METALLICA's official web site has been updated with the following message:
"The lights go down, the last strains of AC/DC fade out and METALLICA are about to step foot on stage, but not until 'Ecstasy of Gold' plays. The very familiar composition from the classic film 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' has been opening METALLICA shows for over two decades, and now the band will honor its composer Ennio Morricone by contributing their recording of the song to a tribute album coming out in the spring of 2007.
"Morricone, the internationally acclaimed composer of over 400 film and television scores, will be celebrating his 78th birthday tomorrow as he prepares to make his on-stage debut in North America at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on February 3, 2007. He will be conducting a 200-piece orchestra and choir performing songs from some of his best known scores. The subsequent tribute album will also feature Andrea Bocelli, Yo-Yo Ma, Bruce Springsteen, and more."
Heaven Shall Burn's "Counterweight" Video Online
The German powerhouse HEAVEN SHALL BURN triumphantly returns with "Deaf To Our Prayers", which is a stunning portrayal of sheer aggression and musical technicality that will quickly catch the attention of any extreme music fan. The group's new video for the track "Counterweight" - taken from their Summer Breeze 2006 festival performance - perfectly captures the band's live intensity in front a rabid German crowd. You can watch the video on YouTube or below:
Maik Weichert (guitars) states: "Upon seeing the initial footage of this performance we immediately knew that it would make for a perfect promotional video. It was a really cool night with crazy fans and we are extremely proud to capture this special feeling. You can feel the energy and fun in every frame of the clip. We are sure that everybody who couldn't make it to Summer Breeze will still be able to feel how special of a night it was for us. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do."
In December, HEAVEN SHALL BURN will co-headline the European Spirit tour with CALIBAN. Weichert comments: "Finally we get to a co-headlining tour with our good friends from CALIBAN! Many years ago we both played in a tiny club in front of less than 100 people, most of which were older than we were. Since that day every HSB/CALIBAN show has been a unique experience. We will continue this tradition on the upcoming Spirit tour and ask everybody to come out and dance away some extra pounds gathered during winter!"
"Deaf To Our Prayers" is the long-awaited follow-up to HEAVEN SHALL BURN's highly acclaimed album "Antigone", which was their first release to garner worldwide praise. The new disc was recorded and mixed by renowned producer Jacob Hansen (MERCENARY, RAUNCHY) in Denmark. More...

We plan to record 12-13 tracks."
Regugitate announced the addition of bassist Johan Jansson (INTERMANT, UNCURBED, DEMONICAL, ex-CENTINEX) to the group's ranks in September. Jansson made his live debut with the group on on Saturday, September 30 at Pub Bastun in Marihamn, Åland.

Cradle Of Filth Recruit New Drummer
British Extreme Metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have recruited Czech drummer Marthus (real name: Martin Škaroupka) to replace Adrian Erlandsson. Martin was born on January 20, 1981 in the Czech Republic and has previously played with GALACTIC INDUSTRY and INNER FEAR, among other bands. "Those of you who have already seen us you will know that Martin is more than qualified for the job!", CRADLE OF FILTH writes in a statement.
Erlandsson announced his departure from CRADLE OF FILTH on Wednesday (Nov. 15), citing his desire to focus on other projects, including NEMHAIN (which is fronted by Erlandsson's wife, fetish model Morrigan Hel; a.k.a. Amber England).
Commented Adrian: "I have enjoyed my time with CRADLE but it is now time to move on. I feel I am going out on a high as 'Thornography' is definitely our best album to date".
Over the course of the last few months, rumors of Adrian's departure have been gaining strength, with several "in-the-know" parties claiming that Adrian was fired from the group just days before they were to sign a new publishing deal. As a result, it was reported (but not officially confirmed) that Erlandsson was relegated to the status of a "session" member (whereby he was paid only for time worked and was not entitled to any publishing or artist royalties), a situation which was rumored to have strained his relationship with the band's frontman Dani Davey (a.k.a. Dani Filth).

Massachusetts based Graveheart, previously named Blistered Earth, have posted an update in addition to four new songs on their myspace page:
"This week, Rutcho and I programmed all the click tracks and recorded all the scratch guitars. Next up: the drums. Graig has a pretty solid idea of what he's going to do parts-wise, so once recording begins, things should move along nicely. After that, it's pretty standard procedure - rhythm guitars, get drunk, bass guitar, more beer, vocals, get drunker, hail Satan, lead guitars, then mixing....or something like that." More...
