METALLICA's official web site has been updated with the following message:

"The lights go down, the last strains of AC/DC fade out and METALLICA are about to step foot on stage, but not until 'Ecstasy of Gold' plays. The very familiar composition from the classic film 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' has been opening METALLICA shows for over two decades, and now the band will honor its composer Ennio Morricone by contributing their recording of the song to a tribute album coming out in the spring of 2007.

"Morricone, the internationally acclaimed composer of over 400 film and television scores, will be celebrating his 78th birthday tomorrow as he prepares to make his on-stage debut in North America at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on February 3, 2007. He will be conducting a 200-piece orchestra and choir performing songs from some of his best known scores. The subsequent tribute album will also feature Andrea Bocelli, Yo-Yo Ma, Bruce Springsteen, and more."

well, you guys are a bit late... Metallica's best days are FAR behind them. Then again I understand your views as well. they are still among the best live acts around, although their new tracks are crap

im so sick of the bull about metallica's new tracks sucking. I've been a metallica fan for years and "...and justice for all" and "master of puppets" are awesome but that does not mean St. Anger isn't also. Actualy listen to the songs before you pass judgement because there are at least 8 songs i can think of from that album that are above average is not better. Why is nearly everyone on this site so negative

fair enough.

either way i dont focus too much on the drums in a song. i just focus on the guitar and vocals mostly.

I wasnt giving them bashing based on any other reason except in my opinion the band has not released anything even half decent since some of the stuff from Load sessions. Even Reload started to taste a bit... stale. On ST. Anger... well, I really wanted to like that album, and I think that Frantic and St. Anger both kick ass, but to me, the album's done after those 2 tracks. Well, Maybe "My World" has some kick in it, but I think there are so many other bands that can do all the "Some Kind Of Monster"s and "Unnamed feeling"s just as well or even better. But, you know, that's the album they wanted to make, so... whatever..
