Breed 77 Head To The USA
BREED 77, who originate from Gibraltar, follow their recent triumphant No. 1 German rock club chart position with another No. 1 radio coup in the USA. The Latino rock pile driver "Alive" has become the most requested on air track on KMBY-X 103.9 Revolution in Monterey/Salinas/Santa Cruz, California.
Says X 103.9 program director Byron Cooke: "This is unheard of — BREED 77 are an unsigned act in the U.S. and 'Alive' is hotter on the phones than INCUBUS, TOOL, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS or MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE! We originally picked this track up on import but it has just taken off of air — the phone lines are HOT and the listeners just love this record!"
On the back of this airplay BREED 77 are now scheduled to perform at X 103.9's Jingle Balls show with PAPA ROACH, LUPE FIASCO and THE TEAM on December 6 at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. They are looking forward to bringing their hard-edged unique Latino rock sound to the U.S.
After a sold-out U.K. national tour, BREED 77's second studio album, "In My Blood", also debuted at No. 1 on Germany's MRC album chart, making it the most played album in German rock clubs. Last week the album saw off competition from releases by rock heavyweights TRIVIUM, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and the DEFTONES to land the top spot.
Black Dahlia Murder Looking For Another Drummer?
Justin Donnelly of The Metal Forge recently conducted an interview with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER guitarist Brian Eschbach. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
On how well the current incarnation of the band is holding up on the road:
"It's pretty gruelling on the road sometimes, and since the release of 'Miasma', we've hardly been home for any great length of time. Sometimes it is a hard road, and other times it's not. It takes a certain type of person to do this full-time. If you can go without a lot of things, you can do this touring thing very easily. But if you're after security, it's not particularly the right place to be in. We made the couple of newer members (bassist Bart Williams and drummer Pierre Langlois) we found join the band as permanent members back in April. Prior to that, they had been playing with us for the whole year pretty much. So since April, things were looking pretty solid for the band. That was until recently. We'll be probably looking for another drummer pretty soon, because Langlois is not exactly into doing the whole road thing. Our previous drummers (Cory Grady and Zach Gibson) were let go because they weren't taking the band as seriously as the rest of the other band members were. This time it just happens to be different. We're extremely happy with the way Langlois plays. We wished that this was something that he really wanted to do, but it would seem that he would rather go home and be a civilian. It hasn't been made official yet, but between all of us in the band, it's been the hot topic of conversations with him. I think after being on a pretty regular tour schedule, he knows what this life is like, and he doesn't really want that. We'll just have to see what happens."
On plans to write and record a new CD:
"After we're finished doing the dates down there in Australia, we'll be off the road until we put out a new album. We plan to head into the studio in March. At this point, we have a lot of ideas, along with a couple of songs pieced together. It's hard to tell people that they shouldn't expect anything too different, because that's exactly what I would have told them leading up to the release of 'Miasma' after 'Unhallowed'. But then a lot of people have told me countless times that they're two extremely different albums. So I don't think I would be able to give you a good statement anyway! (Laughs) I think there's an element of progression from our last album in a sound sense. But again, it's hard to tell you much at this stage. We're just doing what we do, and trying to create better songs. Hopefully there will be some progression there. We just hope to write some songs that we really like, and songs that fans will enjoy once the new album is out. That's all we can do."
Slipknot Guitarist Stars In New Lupara Video
Lupara, featuring ex Broken Hope guitarist Jeremy Wagner have shot their first video with Thompson starring.
The Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson is featured as the main actor in the first video from Lupara, the Chicago-based extreme metal band formed by ex-BROKEN HOPE guitarist Jeremy Wagner. The storyline for the clip ? "No Pity On the Ants" ? revolves around a sadistic killer who enslaves half-a-dozen prisoners for his own twisted enjoyment. The video features Thomson as the killer. This marks the first time Mick has been featured in a music clip outside of SLIPKNOT.
"No Pity On the Ants" was directed and produced by Frankie Nasso of Raging Nation Films (MUDVAYNE, HATEBREED, ALL THAT REMAINS, WALLS OF JERICHO). The song comes off LUPARA's self-titled debut album, out now on Crash Music, Inc.
Commented LUPARA guitarist Jeremy Wagner: "The treatment that director Frankie came up with, along with the input from the band will make this video legendary. The song itself is one of our strongest and best-mixed on the album. When the music ties in with the storyline, the viewer will go on a crushing and terrifying journey with this video. I can't wait for the world to see this one. . . The few clips I've already seen of the narrative and the band performance have surpassed all of our expectations. Frankie and his crew, the extras, everyone involved went above and beyond to make this the best. We had a blast doing this vid...I promise, it slays! Having Mick on board made everything even better. His presence anywhere whether it's on stage, in person, or on film, is awesome, powerful, and intimidating. Mick is a true friend, and he f-ing rules...we couldn't have asked for a more perfect monster."
Epica Deny Rumors of Singer Defection To Nightwish
