Hevein In Pre-Production Mode
Finnish metal band HEVEIN has issued the following update:
"We're happy to announce that pre-production is going well for the second album. We have been recording riffs, lyrics and stuff on a small voice recorder just to get a feel for the upcoming album and now have around 20 songs waiting to be dissected. So now we are moving on to the next stage of recording proper demos at our rehearsal studio. The material is a mix of heavy songs and atmospheric ones. Quite like the first album, only better. We are all looking forward to playing these songs live."
HEVEIN's latest album, "Sound Over Matter", is out on Candlelight Records.
UFO Drummer Checks In
UFO drummer Andy Parker has issued the following update:
"For those of you that don't know, we have just completed a three-week tour that took us to Russia, the Ukraine, Germany and finally the good old UK. Pretty exhausting, I can tell you, especially the Russian part. Man! That place is BIG, and that's coming from a guy who lives in Texas. We had several 20-plus-hour journeys by train with little else to do but drink, and all I can say is that I will never complain about British trains again. Believe me, when it comes to drinking, those Russians are professionals, they even make Pete [Way, bass] look like a beginner and that's hard to do." More...

A Global Threat Call It Quits
A GLOBAL THREAT have posted the following update:
“It’s time. So we’re going to do it fast. It’s just like ripping off a band-aid…1…2…we broke up. A GLOBAL THREAT is officially over. You can stop cheering now. So maybe you’re asking why? In the most diplomatic terms the breakup would probobly be characterized as a mutually agreed upon decision made by three individuals for seperate and different reasons. Too vague and impersonal? Sorry, thats all you get. This isn’t “Behind the Music.” We’ll also spare the wistful, sentimental comments on the band’s history and the times spent making it. Our history is on record shelves and on worn fliers hanging on the walls of dark clubs, and our experiences and how we feel about it all will be in our heads and hearts (and maybe yours too), and in the end, that’s enough. No sense cheapening it on a MySpace blog.”
You can read more about it here.
Zombi To Release Two Digital EPs

Audio samples taken from Digitalis can be heard now via the band’s MySpace page.
Additionally, ZOMBI will embark on their first-ever tour of Japan this weekend. The sci-fi instrumental rock duo will team-up with JESU starting November 25th at Club Quattro in Tokyo. A listing of confirmed tour dates can be found online here.

Distorted To Enter Underground Studios
Female fronted Israeli metal stalwarts DISTORTED are about to enter Underground Studios with producer Pelle Seather to record the follow up to their 2006 album 'Memorial' that surprised both friend & foe in the international media & underground scene.
Vocalist Miri Milman comments on the material 'We are extremely thrilled about the new material, it has been a couple of intense months for us, focusing on nothing but the writing & every little detail. The new album is going to be a huge leap forward for DISTORTED, everything just fits together. The material is more mature: catchy & intense at the same time, whilst keeping the oriental melodies & singing that marked our style before, it just takes it to a whole new level'.
To complete the package, DISTORTED's new album is going to feature guest appearances from Thomas Vikström (THERION), Lisa Johansson (DRACONIAN) and Sven De Caluwe (ABORTED) , who will also be doing the artwork for the record. More updates on artwork, track listing, album title and such will be available in the coming weeks as well as studio reports on the bands MySpace / youtube sites.
DISTORTED recently signed with UK based label CANDLELIGHT records & this new album should be released in early 2008.
Sabbat Members Talk Reunion
KomodoRock.com recently conducted an interview with legendary UK thrashers SABBAT. In the discussion they talk about their decision to reform for some festival appearances, after being persuaded by CRADLE OF FILTH's Dani Filth. An excerpt follows:
KomodoRock.com: It's been a great weekend, some good laughs, a bit of controversy. How was it when you played, did you have a good time?
Andy Sneap (guitarist): "Yeah it was all right. Our set got moved earlier, which was a bit of a shame."
KomodoRock.com: Was it not very busy when you played?
Andy: "It was all right, obviously a lot of people didn't know that our set had been moved forward by an hour, which seemed like a bit of a dumb thing to do if you ask me, obviously people who had come here to see us, probably missed us."
Martin Walkyier (singer): "And all the other bands they wanted to see that had been rescheduled."
KomodoRock.com: You guys have been around for absolutely fucking ages.
Gizz Butt: "Steady!"
Martin: "We were around and then we went away, and then came back. We're the herpes of heavy metal aren't we!"
Andy: "Yes."
KomodoRock.com: You thought they were gone and then they're there again. So what brought you back, is there a metal revival going on?
Andy: "It was Cradle Of Filth actually, I was producing the Cradle Of Filth album, and Dani was a huge Sabbat fan, and he talked us into it. It was actually my birthday. Martin had come round, and we were having few beers, talking rubbish, and by the end of the night we were booked onto the UK dates of their Christmas tour. So we did that, and then we
did a few festivals this year, nothing out of the ordinary, just doing a few select dates."
KomodoRock.com: More for enjoyment?
Andy: "Yeah totally."
Martin: "Absolutely."

Vixen Confirmed For Rocklahoma
According to Pollstar, veteran all-female hard rockers VIXEN have been confirmed for next year's Rocklahoma festival, which will be held July 11-13, 2008 at the Catch The Fever Festival Grounds, four miles north of Pryor, Oklahoma. Also scheduled to appear is Switzerland's KROKUS, whose participation in the event was announced on Monday (November 19) by the festival's organizers, Catch the Fever Music Festival, via KMOD radio in Tulsa.
Tickets for Rocklahoma 2008 went on sale to the general public on October 1. Over fifty percent of the VIP seats have been renewed making the remaining seats in great demand. The public is encouraged to get their VIP seats early as they are becoming more limited.
Rocklahoma will re-create the Hollywood scene of the Eighties with help from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Whisky A Go Go and the famed Rainbow Bar and Grill, both on West Hollywood's Sunset Blvd.
"The Eighties was a magical moment in regards to the history of rock and roll as many of the hottest bands at that time got their start right there on Sunset Blvd.," said Mark Nuessle, general manager of the Catch the Fever Music Festival.
Orange Goblin Confirmed For Bulldog Bash
British doomsters ORANGE GOBLIN have issued the following update:
"ORANGE GOBLIN are pleased to announce their first show in Denmark for nearly 6 years! The show will take place at a venue called Godset, in Kolding, Denmark on Saturday, May 10th, 2008.
"Also, ORANGE GOBLIN have just been confirmed to appear on the main stage at next years Bulldog Bash motorcycle festival, the World's No. 1 custom show and music event that takes place at the Shakespeare County Raceway, Warwickshire UK from August 7th -10th, 2008. ORANGE GOBLIN's performance will be on Saturday, August 9th and many, many more bands are due to be announced."
As previously reported, ORANGE GOBLIN has scheduled a special Christmas show on Saturday, December 8 at the Islington Carling Academy in London. Support at the gig will come from North Carolina sludge-meisters SOURVEIN and hard-rocking U.K. hopefuls JOSIAH.
ORANGE GOBLIN's new CD, "Healing through Fire", was released in May through Sanctuary Records. The album was initially released as a CD with a bonus DVD featuring live footage from the band's headline show at London's Mean Fiddler in December 2006.
Queens Of The Stone Age Doing Animated Film?
The Pulse of Radio reports that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE might be working on an animated film based around "Bulby", the character shaped like a light bulb that appears on the cover of the band's latest album, "Era Vulgaris", as well as some of the group's recent videos. According to Gigwise.com, the QUEENS have met with Hollywood studio execs about the project and have brought in a designer and potential director to work on it. A source said, "It's going to be the new SpongeBob SquarePants or Ren And Stimpy."
QUEENS frontman Josh Homme told The Pulse of Radio why "Bulby" and another broken light bulb character ended up on the cover of "Era Vulgaris". "The title has an accidental air of seriousness, and I think that just helps to kind of illustrate that, 'No, no, no, not that serious actually,' you know," he said. "And I also think that it kind of strikes a little bit of a balance between that '50s generation of advertising, that sort of naive generation where Drippy the Oil Drop sold Exxon Oil or Fred Flintstone sold smokes, you know, which seems really Satanic."
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE starts a U.K. tour on Friday (November 23), but will return home to the U.S. in December for a string of pre-holiday shows.
Proceeds from a December 9 concert at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, California will go to various charities and organizations, including Operation Safe House and Palm Desert High School.
Former Sacrifice Manager Awakens From Coma
According to Drew Masters of the M.E.A.T. Facebook Group, Toronto-based heavy metal personality (and former SACRIFICE manager) Ray "Black Metal" Wallace — who suffered an aneurysm last Thursday and has since been hospitalized in intensive care in a downtown Toronto hospital — has come out of his coma.
Says Masters: "My source reports to me that Ray is awake but VERY groggy, sitting upright, and speaking with a slurred speach, all of which, the doctors say, is VERY ENCOURAGING!! Am told too that his humor is intact!
"As you recall from yesterday's news, Ray was being kept unconscious via a medically induced coma. After tests came back yesterday with positive results, the administration of the meds used for the coma were discontinued. He awoke sometime this morning."
Visitor information is not available at this time. However expect there to be a strict limit to whomever can see him and when. No flowers are being accepted, but cards are fine and can be forwarded to this address:

The Great American Rampage Tour Photos Online
Tuesday November 6th, 2007 I had the opportunity to photograph The Great American Rampage Tour which included Karnivool, Ankla, Skindred and Nonpoint. The show took place at the Wedge Nightclub in Austintown, Ohio, where fans can not only experience an awesome show but if you're up front, you can order your drinks right there without having to loose your spot in the front row. All of the bands put on an amazing performance and were some of the nicest guys to talk to. It was definally one of the best tours I've seen this year.

Ex-Megadeth Guitarist Selling Amplifier Parts
Former MEGADETH guitarist Jeff Young has issued the following update:
"Since a majority of my time these days is spent playing nylon-string classic and flamenco guitars, I've decided to part with my most precious amplifier pieces. A part of me didn't want to let go of these items, many of which have been with me through important recordings and performances. However, after much reflection, I've come to the following conclusion: if you own something, store it, never use it — it's probably time to pass it on to someone who WILL use it.
"This gear is FAR SUPERIOR to what I used on MEGADETH's 'So Far, So Good So What!' album. To this day, I regret that I didn't have these pieces when recording my tracks for that album. However, I did use the equipment in question for rhythms and leads on all the Young/Holiday studio tracks on my 'Lost Tracks' myspace profile page. You can listen to these one-of-a kind components in action at the following domain: www.myspace.com/jeffyoungmusic."
For more information, visit www.myspace.com/guitaristjeffyoung.
Jeff Young will join the Guitar Institute of Technology teaching staff at Hollywood, California's Musicians Institute in January 2008.
Musicians Institute offers a comprehensive, hands-on education in contemporary music performance, recording, guitar making, music business and film.
Jeff's entire career with MEGADETH was spent recording and touring in support of the band's 1988 platinum-selling album "So Far, So Good...So What!"
Following his stint with MEGADETH, Jeff began contributing the "Fingerprints" column for Guitar magazine. For a portion of the 1990s, Jeff stepped away from his career to deal with the untimely deaths of first his father and later his mother while immersing himself in the further study of classical, flamenco, gypsy jazz and other world music varieties. In 1998, he resurfaced with new Brazilian musical partner, Badi Assad. Together, the duo crafted exotic soundscapes for their first collaboration entitled, BADI ASSAD - "Chameleon". The album, co-written, arranged, and produced by Jeff, introduced their acoustic-world-fusion sounds to diverse audiences worldwide. Opening concerts for renowned artists, including Joe Cocker and Cassandra Wilson, as well as performances on 1999's Lilith Fair and Farm Aid 2000, are testament to the considerable cross-over appeal of Badi and Jeff's "new world music" explorations. In 2003, the track "Waves" from "Chameleon" was featured in the Michael and Kirk Douglas film "It Runs in the Family", as well as on the movie's soundtrack.

Queensryche Enter Billboard Charts
QUEENSRŸCHE's collection of covers, "Take Cover", has sold 5,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 173 on The Billboard 200 chart.
Singer and chief songwriter Geoff Tate, guitarists Michael Wilton and Mike Stone, bassist Eddie Jackson, and drummer Scott Rockenfield put their stamp on 11 classic tracks with "Take Cover".
Not known for playing many covers live, Tate says the album gave the band a chance to relax and have some fun. "During soundchecks, Stone and Michael like to play 'name that riff,' and sometimes the whole band joins in. That's really the way this album came together too. We got together and started playing songs to each other, and then we picked our favorites."
The eclectic list of songs reflects the members' divergent tastes and includes a few surprising selections such as "Heaven On Their Minds" from the hit musical "Jesus Christ Superstar", the O'JAYS R&B classic "For Love Of Money" and an operatic epic originally performed by the Italian duo of CARLO MARRALE & CHEOPE, "Odissea". Recognized as an accomplished vocalist, Tate says he enjoyed the song's demanding arrangement. "I really like this song because there is a lot for a singer to sink his teeth into, plus I got a chance to sing in Italian, which was interesting considering I don't speak a word of it."
The set covers a lot of ground both lyrically and musically, opening with "Innuendo", QUEEN's epic song about life and death; "Almost Cut My Hair", CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG's paean to freedom; and the medieval metal of BLACK SABBATH's "Neon Knights".
"Take Cover" also features QUEENSRŸCHE's distinctive arrangement of PINK FLOYD's "Welcome To The Machine", an acoustic version of BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD's "For What It's Worth", and a highly charged live version of U2's "Bullet The Blue Sky". "We'll never top the originals; they're classics for a reason," Tate says. "We were more focused on finding different approaches that took the songs in unexpected directions."
Singing PETER GABRIEL's "Red Rain" and THE POLICE's "Synchronicity II", Tate says, were opportunities for him to explore music he'd previously overlooked. "I'd heard these songs on the radio before, but I didn't really appreciate them before the guys suggested we record them. It was a rewarding experience doing this album because it gave us all a chance to pay tribute to some of the bands that have meant so much to us over the years, and we all discovered new songs to love."
"Take Cover" track listing (original artist in parenthesis):
01. Innuendo (QUEEN)
02. Bullet The Blue Sky - Live (U2)
03. Synchronicity II (THE POLICE)
04. For What It's Worth (BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD)
05. Welcome To The Machine (PINK FLOYD)
06. Red Rain (PETER GABRIEL)
07. Neon Knights (BLACK SABBATH)
08. Almost Cut My Hair (CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG)
09. Heaven On Their Minds ("Jesus Christ Superstar")
10. For The Love Of Money (THE O'JAYS)
11. Odissea (CARLO MARRALE & CHEOPE)

King Diamond Issues Statement On Cancelled Tour
KING DIAMOND manager Ole Bang has issued the following message:
"Most regretfully we have to announce that King will not be able to tour North America as planned.
King has over the past 6 month been suffering from a herniated disc in the spine, and has still not recovered to a satisfactory level.
He was prescribed absolute rest for several months, and this appear to be more than half a year.
Following several visits to specialists and most recent MRI-scan; we have to realize that his condition need far more rest than expected in the first place. At the moment he can neither walk for more than an hour at a time, nor can he sit like you would do in a normal daily life; ie. there is no chance that he will fully recover in time for the tour start in March.
We deeply regret the inconvenience caused for everyone involved, for promoters, bands and fans; and most of all we're very very sorry that we can not go out and perform for the fans; who have been waiting for the tour to kick off.
Unfortunately life is unpredictable, and it's completely out of our hands when illness kick in, and no medicine, how harsh it might have been, can cure the situation. If anything could remedy the situation it would have been done, but for now we simply just have to wait, and let King get the much needed rest.
I will post news about any developments as soon as it's available.
At this time we will also like to say Thanks, for all the kind words of a speedy recovery we have received.
Ole Bang."

Twelve Gauge Valentine Breaking Up
Twelve Gauge Valentine will disband following one final winter tour. Formed in 2003, the group released their debut full-length with Solid State Records in 2006. The following statement has been issued:
"Alright so with every beginning there must ultimately be an end. With that being said, we are embarking on one final tour this winter with our very good friends The Handshake Murders and soon to be friends Memphis May Fire! We hope to see as many old friends as possible and still make some new ones.
"Twelve Gauge Valentine has been a part of our lives for nearly five years now. We started just as many bands do playing around in one of our houses then progressing to a few locals shows. Progressing from one out of state show here and one there to becoming a full-time touring band. It's been an amazing ride that we wouldn't give up for anything in the world. We have seen so many places and done so many things due to this band that I would never of thought possible. We really hope as many of you guys come out as possible to these final shows. We're keeping it short due to other obligations for that I apologize. We will be playing songs from Shock Value and one or two from our old ep Exclamationaire! It's been amazing guys, seriously. Thanks to everyone who has been there or helped us at all over the past years. It means so much to us. Please try to make it out to one of these last shows. We got one last time to hangout and party it up!
"On a more uplifting ending note, don't expect us all to be giving up on music so soon. By the beginning of the new year we should be able to announce some really big new stuff we have in the oven!! It will be exciting for any Twelve Gauge fans and many new fans hopefully to join us on our new journey. Thank you guys so much again! Hope to see you all out there soon. Until then have happy holidays guys!"
