Powerman 5000 To Take Extended Break From Touring
POWERMAN 5000 has issued the following update:
"Well, back from tour now and it was a rollercoaster of a run with some amasing moments!! Special thanks to all the folks in Lubbock, TX for making the last night such a blast...
"Looks like we will be taking an extended break from touring, other than a few shows here and there.
"It's hard to believe that we have basically been on the road since mid-2005 without much of a break! We figure it's time to go away and make you miss us!
"Work continues on new music but the promise of a record in 2007 seems impossible. Though we are cooking up some great stuff for the next release! A return to form, if you will. Weird, loud, electro, rock... we are on a mission to claim our rightful spot as the band that never fits in! HA. I think you all will be pleasantly surprised!!"
POWERMAN 5000 recently announced plans to release a live EP, although no further details were provided.
The band earlier in the year parted ways with guitarists Johnny Heatley and Terry Corso and replaced them with Evan Rodaniche and Dave Pino.

John 5 Instructional DVD Pushed Back
ROB ZOMBIE/ex-MARILYN MANSON guitarist John 5's new instructional DVD, which was previously due by Halloween, has had its release date pushed back to January 2008. John has also started work on a new instrumental CD for a 2008 release.
John 5 released his third solo album, "The Devil Knows My Name", on April 3. The CD features guest guitar solos from two legendary guitarists — Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson — plus SLIPKNOT's Jim Root. Keeping time are John's ZOMBIE bandmates Tommy Clufetos (drums) and Piggy D. (bass). According to a press release, this is the only album that all leads were doubled — an instrumental feat that is rarely taken on by the best of the guitar players.
John 5's second solo album, "Songs for Sanity" (2005), featured guest guitar solos from Steve Vai and Albert Lee. John also worked with KISS frontman Paul Stanley on Stanley's second solo album, "Live to Win", which was released in October.

Hemlock Issue Update From Day Two in The Studio
Hemlock have issued the following update from the second day in the studio on their myspace page:
"What's the fucks is goings on everybody?!?! Steve here again, just letting you know what day 2 of our little recording adventure was like. To be totally honest with you all, I started my day not being able to stay away from the bathroom. I don't think really old pop-tarts and mac and chesse are a good nightcap before bedtime. My stomach hated me this morning! lol But I powered through all that and went in to record somemore drums. But, I guess it really wasn't my morning because after spending close to a half hour on just the intro to one song I ended up getting super pissed at myself and decided to move on to another song."
"I spent the next couple of hours hammering through songs and then something else happened. After completing one of the songs that I was having some trouble with, and completing it feeling pretty good, the computer crashed and it got erased. Sooooo....I decided to take a break and enjoy some B&Gs. (Biscuts and Gravy) After taking a little me time, and enjoying not having anything bad happen to me, I went back into the studio and finished up some more tunes. Overall I completed 6 songs today and 4 yesterday. I only have 4 more to go and then it'll be time for a drink!"
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys another story....Our good buddy Jason from Roswell gave me a bottle of Jager but I'm on A.R. (alcohol restriction) till I complete my drumtracks. So I have 4 more to go and then I'll probably be typing tomorrows update drunk! lol And if your wondering why I'm on A.R. well, that's another story for another day...or a d.v.d. perhaps? hmmmm........"
"Here are a couple more videos for you guys to check out. The sound is terrible and it's really F'ing loud...but you get the idea. :)"

Aerosmith Drummer Talks Newbury Street Retail
Boston magazine recently conducted an interview with AEROSMITH drummer Joey Kramer about the Technical store which he opened recently in Boston with John Nichols. Located on Newbury between Exeter and Fairfield streets, the shop's stocked with a wide — and weird — range of streetwear, from hats and hoodies to sneakers and skateboard accessories. (Nichols, a friend of Kramer's son Jesse, opened the first Technical in Norwell a few years ago.)
Q: So, do you skate?
Kramer: Um, not really. I'm just afraid to break my thumbs and my wrists, you know? Then I'd be in a fine how-do-you-do.
Q: How'd you get involved in Technical?
Kramer: I met John four or five years back, after he started the store in Norwell. The thing that caught my eye was the passion he had about the skateboard culture. He was definitely a quality-before-quantity guy.
Q: The South Shore store is kind of a hard-core skate shop. What's the new location like?
Kramer: It's geared toward the foot traffic on Newbury Street. There's stuff in here that I would wear, that I do wear.
Q: Such as?
Kramer: Well, in particular, a brand of watches called TW Steel that I found overseas. And another watch from Toy Watch with a skull and crossbones, and T-shirts from Upper Playground and Spacecraft.
Q: Would you wear it onstage?
Kramer: To me, it's definitely more everyday clothing.
Q: Do you think the skater ethic is similar to the '70s rock ethic?
Kramer: They're both word-of-mouth, underground-culture-ish but spread quickly. In this world, you have to be cautious about advertising: If skaters think it's for everybody, they won't come.
Audio Of A7X On Bruce Dickinson Show Posted
Members AVENGED SEVENFOLD were IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson's guests on Friday, November 9 during Bruce's weekly BBC 6 Music radio show, aptly named "The Bruce Dickinson Friday Rock Show". Listen to a replay of the program here.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD guitarist Zacky Vengeance has issued a statement on the band's No. 4 debut on this week's Billboard album chart. Writing at the group's official web site, Vengeance commented, "It's kind of funny to wake up and see the words AVENGED SEVENFOLD at the No. 4 spot on the Billboard top 200. Right next to THE EAGLES and a BRITNEY/CARRIE UNDERWOOD threesome. I don't know about you, but it puts a smirk on my face just knowing that our fans tattooed it right on the foreheads of everyone who would quickly disregard the name AVENGED SEVENFOLD (like we aren't a fucking force to be reckoned with). So once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
Vengeance added, "I'll be honest with you: When I roll out of bed every morning my goal in life isn't to be alongside pop stars or actors and actresses or on the cover of the National Enquirer. It sure does feel good, though, to surprise all those people that don't even know what 'an A7X' is..."
AVENGED SEVENFOLD's self-titled fourth album sold 94,000 copies in its first week of release, nearly three times what its 2005 effort, "City of Evil", sold in its biggest week on the chart.
The group's current 30-date tour is slated to wrap up on December 16 in Seattle.
Fear Factory Drummer Working With Tinhorn
FEAR FACTORY drummer Raymond Herrera is collaborating with the Los Angeles-based metal band TINHORN on the latter group's new CD, due sometime next year.
Commented TINHORN bassist Pascual Romero: "We're in a very comfortable situation with Raymond. He's been a longtime personal friend and it was only a matter of time before I was working with the right band to bring to the table."
The details of the partnership are unknown at this time but according to Romero, it will include recording and the potential for touring and distribution. It also alludes to the prospect of a future record deal with an established metal label.
"I'm really happy that we have the opportunity to work with such an icon and I'm very excited for what 2008 holds for us," said Romero in.
This year marks the second year of TINHORN's existence and it has been less than a year with its current lineup.

Sebastian Bach To Play Green Goblin On Stage?
Christa Titus at Reuters recently caught up with vocalist Sebastian Bach (ex-SKID ROW). Th efollowing is an excerpt from the interview:
Q: It's been eight years since your last solo record. Why?
Bach: "I've done four Broadway shows since that record and I definitely count all my Broadway shows as part of my body of work. This is (also) the return of Mr. Axl Rose. The whole world has been waiting over 15 years to hear him put out new songs. That day is November 20. He sings three songs on the record."
Q: How was it recording with him?
Bach: "We had a great time. It took him about two hours to do 'Back In The Saddle' and '(Love Is) A Bitchslap', and then he's like, 'Right on, OK, it's like 2, 3 in the morning.' I said, 'Dude, you gotta take one whack at this song 'Stuck Inside,' and he kinda got a little sniffy. I go, 'Would ya just do the one f---ing shot?' He very carefully wrote the words he was gonna sing and came in with this f---ing vocal at the end when he goes to this high part of this high harmony above the ending chorus. It's astonishing."
Q: You've done TV, Broadway and rap. What other endeavours would you like to attempt?
Bach: "I'm gonna write a book. I've already started on it, and so that's 100% coming. I'd also like to do all my father's (late artist David Bierk) archives, to be presented in a coffee-table kind of format. There's also a role I would like to try out for and perform on Broadway, which is the Green Goblin in Spider Man. I would definitely like to kick Spider Man's ass all over the Broadway stage eight times a week."

Rammstein Guitarist Talks New Album
The Gauntlet recently caught up with RAMMSTEIN guitarist Paul Landers. The following is an excerpt from the interview:
The Gauntlet: What is new with Rammstein?
Paul: "The big news is that the band has just gotten back together and has begun working on new songs. We are working on new material and have put together 30 tracks already. There are a few songs that came from individual members at home, but the thing that is really fun this time is the way we work together. That is what is enjoyable."
The Gauntlet: With the last two albums, the band really didn’t work together, Richard (Kruspe/guitars) was in New York and the band was in Germany. So the band is working more closely on the songs this time?
Paul: "Richard still lives in New York. The band has been together in Germany for the majority of the songs. Richard has been flying back and forth a lot. The sessions have been really good this time."
The Gauntlet: With the band having such a positive time recording, will that make the album less aggressive?
Paul: "I think aggression can be positive. Energy-wise, it is probably going to be heavier. Everything is going to be a little more on point. This could be the heaviest record we have done. The last two we did were a bit on the sweet side."
The Gauntlet: The last two were a bit on the sweet side, but they still had a dark and aggressive undertone.
Paul: "The band thinks everything is heavier and tighter this time around. It is always difficult for the band to say though as the band thinks it might be heavier, but journalists will come out and say it sounds like the other one and this is completely different from the other album. It is very subjective. Now that we have already done a full five albums, we have a certain confidence that this album will be good. Just like you know when you are getting a Mercedes 'S' Class, it will be a great car."
Heaven And Hell Drummer Confirms New Album
Special report by Deb Rao
HEAVEN AND HELL are currently on a European tour that is slated to run until November 18th. One of the most anticipated shows on the tour will include a special performance at the historic Wembley Arena in London tomorrow (November 10th).
During the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards Ceremony held at the Landmark Hotel in London, England, on November 5th, Heaven And Hell received best comeback of the year, and a special award was given to Heaven And Hell guitarist Tony Iommi as Metal Guru of the year.
For over twenty-five years, Vinny Appice has been known as one of the most respected and sought after drummers in hard rock today. Vinny has performed with such legendary bands as DIO and BLACK SABBATH. In this very special Heaven and Hell European Tour interview, Appice gives BW&BK an update of the highlights of the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards, the upcoming Wembley Arena show, Heaven And Hell's recent US Gold Award for selling in excess of over 50,000 copies of the Heaven and Hell - Live At Radio City Music Hall DVD.
Deb Rao: Congratulations on Heaven and Hell's Classic Rock Roll Of Honor Award for best comeback of the year. The Award Ceremony took place at the Landmark Hotel in London, England on November 5th. What did it mean to you, as a member of Heaven And Hell to receive this Historic award?
Appice: "Well it's cool to receive any award and it’s always nice to know people are listening."
Rao: What were some of the highlights that transpired at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards?
Appice: "It is like a big party. I haven't seen a lot of these friends in years so that was very cool. It definitely was a whose who of rock. This was a room full of musical legends. The highlight I would say was seeing Tony Iommi, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page hanging out together and having a laugh!"
Rao: I understand that Tony Iommi also received an award for Metal Guru?
Appice: "Yes, he is the Metal Guru, good choice."
Rao: Heaven and Hell is currently on tour in the UK. How is the tour going so far? How does it feel to be performing in Europe with Black Sabbath's historic roots in the area?
Appice: "The tour is going well. I really enjoy playing the UK being there are so many roots of rock here. So many things I listened to as a kid growing up came from here. It's always been special, playing there."
Rao: Heaven and Hell will be performing at London's Wembley Arena on November 10th. Are you looking forward to this historic event?
Appice: "No…kidding. I can't believe they let me in there. Of course, I am. This is a legendary place with so many famous artists performing there over the years. Yes, can't wait."
Rao: How do European metal audiences compare with American audiences?
Appice: "They have accents and use different currency and they have better beer."
Rao: The U.S. Heaven and Hell tour recently wrapped up with Alice Cooper and Queensryche. What were some of the highlights of this tour? All three bands are legendary. What was it like to be on such am amazing bill?
Appice: "It was great to have them on the show and it made it an evening of great music and just a fantastic show. It was like 3 headliners on one bill. Too many highlights for this interview but it was fun going to the movies to see Halloween with ALICE COOPER."
Rao: At Heaven and Hell's show in Los Angeles, the band also received onstage a Gold Award for Live At Radio City Music Hall. Where the DVD has sold in excess more than 50,000 copies. What was it like to receive this award?
Appice: "It didn't come with a nail to hang on the wall! Very cool to know that many people bought it and are watching you this very minute. My thanks go out to Rhino Records who worked their butt off and all the fans that supported us and made this be successful."
Rao: Heaven and Hell recently performed at four shows in Japan, and one show in Singapore. What did you most enjoy about visiting Japan?
Appice: "It's not the food. I can't use chopsticks either so I would say it was the fans, they rocked! The bullet train is pretty cool too."
Rao: The response of the return of Heaven and Hell has been overwhelming. Are there any plans to record a new album in 2008? The demand is certainly there.
Appice: "Yes, new album coming in 2008."
Rao: What are your touring plans after the UK Heaven and Hell wraps up on November 18th?
Appice: "Chill out a bit and then continue working with my band 3 LEGGED DOGG."
Rao: Any plans to go into the studio with your other project Three Legged Dogg?
Appice: "Yes in 08, we plan to record a new CD for a new label."
Rao: Vinny, what has your most memorable moment been in 2007?
Appice: "It's just been a very special and memorable year altogether. I will remember it as the year we returned together better than ever and had a great time playing together and seeing all the greatest fans in the world again!"

Mutiny will be opening the show for Paradise Lost on Monday, November 19th at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $22. Mutiny have posted a link on their myspace page through which you can support the band and buy tickets. Doors open at 6PM, and the show kicks off at 8PM.
Emperor To Guest On Metalocalypse
During EMPEROR's final visit to the U.S. this past summer, vocalist Ihsahn, guitarist Samoth and drummer Trym stopped by Titmouse Studios, the creative team behind Adult Swim's popular late-night cartoon "Metalocalypse" in Los Angeles. "Dethfashion", the episode featuring characters portrayed by the band, is set to premiere this weekend. Those who can't wait to see it Sunday night (check local listings for airtime) can view the online premiere now by clicking here.
Cellador Guitarist Available For Session Work
CELLADOR guitarist Bill Hudson is currently offering his guitar playing skills to any serious bands that need a studio or touring guitar player in the near future.
Commented Hudson: "I regret to inform everybody that the recordings of CELLADOR's new album were postponed until further notice. We won't be going into the studio this year, and our next tour (alongside TRAIL OF TEARS, ECHOES OF ETERNITY and UNEXPECT) will not start until January 15th, 2008. I believe we'll start recording after that tour is over. That left me with a considerable amount of free time, and I really don't want to stay at home when I could be working. Currently, I am in Minneapolis, MN recording the guitar solos for the next AVIAN album, but I will be done tomorrow (November 10th). I have lots of touring experience and can travel anywhere in the world (I live in the United States). Any interested parties should contact me via e-mail (bill@cellador.com) or my MySpace page."
Besides his work with CELLADOR and AVIAN, Bill Hudson's experience includes THE SUPREMACY, a project featuring drummer Mark Cross (FIREWIND, ex-HELLOWEEN) and keyboard player Joost Van Den Broek (AFTER FOREVER).
Too Pure To Die Kick Off Headline Tour
Too Pure To Die have announced a full US headlining tour with Beneath the Sky (Victory), White Chapel (Metal Blade), and Impending Doom (Facedown) starting this Friday! This tour will put them on the road with several noted death metal bands, and the diversity is a positive challenge, tells guitarist Jordan Peterson, "These bands are all on fire and we are looking forward to the diverse and enthusiastic audience." The band just finished up a tour with All that Remains, The Acacia Strain, and Protest the Hero, which was successful tells Peterson because, "We got a lot of new fans from this tour, all the metal kids that we were worried about totally loved us, and we had the crowd captivated. We could see the boost in our fan base by Myspace plays alone." These two tours are very contrasting in scope and audience, but that's what the band likes, tells Peterson, "Whether we are playing big venues with All that Remains or smaller places like VFW halls, it doesn't matter, we just love playing."
