Testament Reveal New Album Title
Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have set "The Formation of Damnation" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in early 2008 via Nuclear Blast Records. the band is currently recording the drums tracks with producer Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE) at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California.
TESTAMENT recently recruited Paul Bostaph (SLAYER, EXODUS, FORBIDDEN, SYSTEMATIC) to play the drums on new CD. The group was previously rehearsing and writing new material with British drummer Nick Barker (CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR), but Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and international work visa issues have prevented Barker from continuing to be involved in the project.
Bostaph, who was a member of TESTAMENT for a brief period starting around February 2004, had previously played several live dates with the group in 1992 and appeared on the band's 1993 live EP, "Return to the Apocalyptic City". He also toured with TESTAMENT in 2006. More...

NARNIA recently posted a newly recorded song, "In His Majesty's Service" on their MySpace page. The track was originally written and recorded by the Swedish band JERUSALEM back in 1985. NARNIA's version of the song is featured on the group's 10th-anniversary "best of" album, "Decade of Confession", which was released this past summer via Massacre Records.

Hurt Set To Join Seether on Winter Tour
Capitol Records rock quartet HURT has announced plans to open for hard-rockers' Seether on their upcoming tour beginning Nov. 24th at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC through Dec. 14th at Midnight Rodeo in Amarillo, TX (full schedule below). The news comes as Hurt wraps up their own headlining club tour in support their multi-faceted sophomore album Vol. II, which was released on Sep. 25th and entered the Billboard New Artist chart at #1. "Ten Ton Brick," the first single from Vol. II, is currently climbing the radio airplay charts where it is currently ranked #18 at Active Rock and #40 at Modern Rock.
Vol. II continues where its 2006 predecessor Vol. I, which spawned two top 20 active rock hits with "Rapture" and "Falls Apart" left off, furthering their signature post-grunge alt-metal sound with a melodic melding of aggression and frustration with soaring harmonies, quieter interludes and intelligent, affecting lyrics. The album was produced by Eric Greedy (Ringo Starr, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Barbra Streisand), who was also at the helm for Vol. 1.
Hurt is comprised of J. Loren (vocals, strings), Evan Johns (drums), Josh Ansley (bass), and Paul Spatola (guitars). You can check out some of their material on their MySpace page.

Drowning Pool Frontman Checks In
DROWNING POOL frontman Ryan McCombs has posted the following message on the group's MySpace page:
"You know, I'm pretty sure I should have something to blog but I just don't...
"I could blog about what I've done the past couple of days, but who really gives a flying fuck snake about doing laundry or riding on a bus so long that your brain goes goddamn numb.
"OHHHH, yes, the glorious life of a touring musician.
"Yesterday while traveling from PA to FL we stoped after a billion hours on the road, ate, watched more TV, drank and went back to bed. The biggest concern I have right now is if I used enough fabric softener sheets in the dryer, or maybe I used too many. I just don't know.
"I can tell you this much for sure: the first season of 'Dexter' is worth picking up. Ayelet (merch girl) and I got hooked on it quickly. A series about a serial killer,... society is fucked up.
"I mean, other than David (guitar tech) randomly showing his ass there really isn't much that goes down while traveling. And to be fair for that to be anything special he needs to change gender and become a lot less hairy. I've been thinking about taking up heroin to pass the time but I'm just too much of a puss when it comes to needles.
"I reckon the only point I can make here is when you hear a band person talk about how that time on stage makes everything worthwhile, you can really beleave they are being honest. The other night in Erie PA the crowd was so bad-ass, it's probably the only thing that carries us through this two-day off travel time.
"So here's a thought for you: Next time you're at a show and you're just standing there with your thumb cramed up your ass, cut loose and have a good time. You just might be the only thing between a tour continuing on and a musician offing himself in a dirty, smelly sick-ass shitter on a tour bus."
Seventh Dagger Pulls Out of Warner Bros. Distro
Seventh Dagger owner Danny has explained why he has pulled out of a potential distribution deal with East/West and Warner Bros.:
"Anyone following the label closely probably heard we were going to have East/West Distribution via Warner Bros. and I am writing this to let everyone know that as of last night we ended that. Why would we end that is what you would probably ask? The answer is simple, Seventh Dagger is something I have worked on for the last almost 7 years and I saw this deal being the end of the label as it was and is. I saw this as trading the underground status and soul of the label for the potential to sell more CDs and let's face it if I was here to make money I would have left a long time ago. Being a straightedge, hard core record label is the epitome of being underground or cult and the truth of the matter is that is where we should be. Straightedge is not for the masses and it never will be, so as I see it we might have made a minor buzz for a minute then the world would move on and not give a shit and we would have been tied to some corporate distribution that I am sure could have cared less about us.
"My next point is this, everything Seventh Dagger and it's bands have accomplished thus far has no one to thank but themselves, all the hardworking people that chip in to run this label and the straightedge community that supports them. East/Weat never did anything for us it would have just put our releases in stores and taken it's cut and Lumberjack simply stole from us so there was no help there. When you see an ad in Outburn, Revolver, AMP, Decibel, Lambgoat etc realistically you paid for that. Everything this label has done, shooting videos, advertising, everything has been done because straight edge kids bought merch from us and we turned it into further promotion and support for our bands. I think we have accomplished a lot and we want to thank everyone that has supported us for making it possible. I would also like to thank our friend Tommy from Tragic Hero Records for linning up the East/West deal for us, when I thought that was what we should do.
"Not doing this distribution deal has given me a whole new lease on running this label and reinvigorated my desire to push further, without compromising the values that makes Seventh Dagger what it is.
Thanks,
Danny and SEVENTH DAGGER"

Guitar Hero III Brings In $100Mil In First Week
The Pulse of Radio reports: Guitar Hero III grossed more than $100 million in its first seven days on sale in North America, according to Variety.com. Activision revealed the figures on Monday (November 5), making the music-based video game the second biggest title of the year after Halo 3, which hauled in $170 million in its first day alone. The sales of Guitar Hero could be either a positive or negative sign for the upcoming Rock Band, depending on how much money players have left to spend when the latter game arrives at the end of the month.
The third entry in the massively popular Guitar Hero series, which has been promoted by commercials featuring VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash, features songs from DISTURBED, SLIPKNOT, THE KILLERS, AEROSMITH, A.F.I., GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA, MUSE, PEARL JAM, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SMASHING PUMPKINS and dozens more.
Stars such as KORN's Jonathan Davis and Trent Reznor of NINE INCH NAILS have been outspoken in their enthusiasm for the game.
As previously reported, following the October 28th release of the game many of the artists with tracks featured in the game saw impressive spikes in both album and single sales. British metallers DRAGONFORCE claimed the #1 spot for digital single sales amongst other tracks included in Guitar Hero III for "Through The Fire And Flames," a track from their Roadrunner Records debut, "Inhuman Rampage." The single saw an impressive 183% increase over the prior weeks single sales. More...
Divine Heresy Guitarist Talks Style Change
KNAC.com spoke with former FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares about his new project DIVINE HERESY recently. A few excerpts from the chat can be found below:
KNAC.com: I think people can’t help associating you with Fear Factory because you were an integral part of the band, and that’s the group you’re best known for playing with.
Cazares: "As far as the sound and the riffs, yeah, that was me. But I try to take a new approach with every project that I do. I didn’t want this band to be a cyber-metal type of thing. I didn’t want to be singing about robots and all the sci-fi stuff that’s going on in Fear Factory, and I didn’t want to have a lot of keyboards and samples. I didn’t want an industrial album. So it differs in that way, and also because there are also guitar solos on this record. That’s a lot different than what I did when I was in Fear Factory. It wasn’t that I couldn’t play solos, it was just that it wasn’t called for. It was a different style of band. Most people do know me from Fear Factory, and that’s why a lot of people have to compare it. But I think a lot of people get confused between then and now. The people who love Fear Factory and want to hear a little bit of Fear Factory will be turned off by it if I do too much to make it sound that way. And if I don’t do enough, they’ll be turned off by it, too. So I’m kind of like a rock in a hard place.
I wanted it to have a good balance of a lot of things I do. BRUJERIA and ASESINO are death metal bands. Divine Heresy is not a death metal band, but there are elements of death metal in the music. That’s cool. But another thing that confuses people is that because of the musicians involved, they think that it’s going to be a death metal band. Then those people may be disappointed because there’s not enough death metal in it for them. But we please ourselves first with our music. If it’s true to my heart and it’s true to what I do, then that’s all that matters. I think that once people get past the Fear Factory comparison and understand that this is not Fear Factory or a death metal band, then they’ll love it. They’ll realize that this is a really good fucking metal band with a lot of versatility."
KNAC.com: What were the greatest challenges of putting together the band and making the record?
Cazares: "In putting the band together, the biggest challenge was finding the time. I didn’t have a lot of time. I was doing too many projects. I was in two bands, Brujeria and Asesino, and then I was a team captain for the Roadrunner All Stars. So putting together the band was the greatest challenge. As far as making the record, there really wasn’t much of a challenge. It was a fun record to make, and even though Tommy Vext was the new kid on the block, he was definitely not green. He knew what he was doing. He was very well prepared. He’s one of those guys who rehearsed in his bedroom every day, dreaming of this moment. So when he had his chance, he pulled his weight and did a great job."
KNAC.com: In what ways has your guitar playing style changed?
Cazares: "My style has definitely evolved. I’m doing solos and there are a lot more riffs. There’s a lot more guitar work going on. With Fear Factory, I wasn’t doing much soloing. Solos were kind of dead at that time, but now solos are huge. The main thing that’s changed about me as a player is that I’m doing more solos. One of the other things is that my speed has increased immensely because Tim Yeung plays really fast. It can be pretty difficult at times to keep up with the drums, so I definitely had to build up my picking speed. It wasn’t that I couldn’t play fast, but I practiced with Tim to build up the endurance. The music we’re playing has more riffs and it’s much more intricate than what I was doing in Fear Factory. At times, Fear Factory was very simple and very stripped down. For me, this music has a much stronger attitude. This is my coming-back record, and I feel that I have a lot to prove.'

Shining Cancel Turkish Shows
Due to the recent escalation in violence and military action within the country, SHINING have been forced to cancel their plans to play in Turkey. The two gigs, scheduled to take place in Istanbul and Ankara on November 15th and 17th will be rescheduled at a later date.
In a statement issued today, Shining frontman Niklas Kvarforth had this to say: “I would personally like to apologise to the fans in Ankara and Istanbul for the cancellation. We have always received a lot of correspondence from Turkish fans asking us to play in their country, and we know that this must be a disappointment for them. It’s a big disappointment for us too. I would, however, like to stress that the decision to cancel was most emphatically NOT taken by the band. We have never been political, and we are not taking sides with anyone. Had it been down to us we would have played - violence or no violence, and I think people who know the band, know this to be true. Unfortunately the booking agency, and others involved with the tour, were not prepared to let us go ahead and play in a country where people were being killed, as they considered it too dangerous for both the band and the audience. We held out as long as we could to see if the situation would ease, but the matter was always completely out of our hands. We will definitely try to reschedule as soon as we can”.
Shining will undertake a 19 date European tour with Maniac’s SKITLIV and Austrian black metallers HELLSAW during December.
The Arcane Order Set Release Date For New Album
Danish modern thrashers THE ARCANE ORDER return after their debut The Machinery Of Oblivion with a record no one would have expected.
In The Wake Of Collisions is not the logical follow-up and it is not what people are used to in meaning of being a fan of the band. It's way beyond what the band once created. Improved instrumental skills and even more improved songwriting are what makes this record stand out.
Inspired by STRAPPING YOUNG LAD's complex compositions mixed with their Danish vibe and very own sound, The Arcane Order set out to release a hurricane of a modern thrash metal album!
Produced in the most brutal and crystal clear way by Jacob Hansen (NEAERA, VOLBEAT, HATESPHERE) at the infamous Hansen Studios, In The Wake Of Collisions will feature the following tracklisting: 'Death Is Imminent', 'Between Reason And Hubris', 'The Serpent Tower', 'Eruptions Of Red', 'When Oceans Become Deserts', 'Unleash The Tyrant', 'The Reaping Reverence', 'Sanctity Of Allegiance', 'Horizons Buried'.
In The Wake Of Collisions will be unleashed on January 11th (Germay, Austria, Switzerland, Italy)
and January 14th (Europe) through Metal Blade Records.
Vox Tempus Sign With Angel Milk Records
Progressive rock/metal band VOX TEMPUS has signed an exclusive deal with Angel Milk Records in Europe.
Label president Andy Bramhall initially expressed interest in the group when they were first shopping the debut, "In the Eye of Time". The album ultimately saw a small independent release in the U.S., with virtually no overseas distribution. Andy went on to form Angel Milk Records in the U.K., and kept in touch with the band through keyboardist Eric Ragno.
With the latest resurgence in progressive rock, there has been a new wave of interest in the band through both MySpace and the individual careers of Eric and super-drummer Gregg Bissonette. Says Eric: "We often receive questions about where to buy the album, if there are any leftover tracks and what will come next. In conversations with Angel Milk, many of these same questions arose. After some discussion, it was agreed that we should explore these answers together."
The first step is to re-release the debut album, "In the Eye of Time", in Europe and Asia. The album is being expertly remastered by Andy Bramhall, with assistance by Greg Michael Burnell at Jellyjam Digital UK." More...
Moonspell In Pre-Production For New Album
Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL are currently in pre-production with Waldemar Sorychta (GRIP INC., LACUNA COIL, TIAMAT) for the follow-up to the acclaimed 2006 effort "Memorial". The band is scheduled to enter Antfarm studios in Denmark in January 2008 with producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, DARK TRANQUILLITY, HALFORD) to begin recording the CD for a tentative late spring/early summer release via SPV.
MOONSPELL's last release was the "Under SatanÆ" CD, which consisted of re-recordings of the band's legendary EP "Under the Moonspell" (1994) as well as their first demo "Anno SatanÆ" and their sole track as MORBID GOD, "Serpent Angel". All songs were re-arranged and revamped in order to "underline their revered distinction as underground classics but now with a mature dark energy and class," according to a press release. The CD was recorded at Antfarm with Tue Madsen and charted in the band's home country, where the group played the album in its entirety at a one-off show at the Lisbon Coliseum in front of 3,500 fans. Iscariot Seeks New Vocalist
Iscariot is in search of new vocalist following the sudden departure of their last singer. The group explains: "Well, it appears that our vocalist has left us to join another band. We were informed by him via a Myspace message last Friday. That's the only word we received about the whole situation from him. We're not mad at all, but we're definitely disappointed with the whole situation."
Anyone interesting in trying out for the position can find extensive requirements and details here.
Amon Amarth Schedule More Signings
Swedish Viking metallers AMON AMARTH have posted this message on their official website:
"There will be a series of meet and greets on our North American tour. The meet and greet will be half an hour long beginning from when doors open. We are looking forward to meeting our fans in person and we'll try to make them happen at every show. Unfortunately due to time restraints, we will be unable to have a meet and greet on the dates where there will be in-store signing sessions.
Because of the recent tragic events, DECAPITATED will not be able to be part of the North American tour. We are deeply sadden by the events and are disappointed that our metal brethren will not be able to share the stage with us.
We've tried to find a replacement for DECAPITATED but it has been impossible. We've decided to play a longer set and throw in some songs that we either never played live before or haven't played live in a very long time. And we think we have a set list that will please both old and new fans!
We are really looking forward to hitting the roads in North America and finally do a full 90 min set. We hope that as many of you as possible will be able to catch the show!"
AMON AMARTH will be participating in an in-store autograph signing session on December 14 at Scrape Records (located at 17 West Broadway) in Vancouver, BC, before their live performance at the Croatian Cultural Centre later that night.

Bullet For My Valentine Reveal New Album Details
Having spent most of the last two years taking over the world with massive European, U.S. and worldwide headline tours, supporting GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN, playing main stage at almost every rock festival across the world, and seeing their 2006 debut album, "The Poison" — an album London's daily The Sun called "one of the finest debut albums in rock history" — sail past the million sales mark (350,000 in the U.S. alone), BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE is set to return with album number two, "Scream Aim Fire", due in the U.S. on January 29, 2008 (Jive/SonyBMG).
"Scream Aim Fire" was produced by Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY) who also produced "The Poison", and was recorded at Sonic Ranch near El Paso, TX earlier this year. The eleven new songs are, according to frontman Matthew Tuck, "really melodic heavy metal...catchy, hooky choruses and full-on vocals, with the music being very in-your-face and heavy...it's a lot more uptempo [than 'The Poison'], a lot more aggressive."
An exclusive 15-minute digital single — a special sneak preview of "Scream Aim Fire" — will be available for download beginning December 18. Two of the album's tracks, "Eye of the Storm" plus the title cut, will be included, along with the band's Matt and Moose providing a behind-the-scenes track-by-track commentary about the album. The "Scream Aim Fire" digital single will sell for $1.98 and be available through all the major digital media services (iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, etc.).
The four-piece metal core band from Bridgend, South Wales, UK — Matthew "Matt" Tuck (vocals), Michael "Padge" Paget (guitar), Michael "Moose" Thomas (drums), and Jason "Jay" James (bass) — are, according to the UK's Kerrang!, well on their way to "phase two of world domination" with the new disc. For "The Poison", BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE graced the covers — at least once — of Kerrang!, Rock Sound, and Metal Hammer. In addition, they won Metal Hammer's 2006 "Golden God Award" for Best British Band, and the 2006 Kerrang! Award for "Best UK Single" for their track "Tears Don't Fall". Here in America, the band was named "British Import of the Year" in Revolver, and "The Poison" generated the hit singles "Tears Don't Fall" and "All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)", with the video for "All These Things I Hate" going to the #1 spot on MTV2.
BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE will headline a tour of the UK and Europe starting in late January, and will then head to the U.S. in late February. Details to be announces shortly.
Full track listing for "Scream Aim Fire" is as follows:
01. Scream Aim Fire
02. Eye of the Storm
03. Hearts Burst Into Fire
04. Waking the Demon
05. Disappear
06. Deliver Us From Evil
07. Take It Out On Me
08. Say Goodbye
09. End of Days
10. Last to Know
11. Forever and Always
Velvet Revolver Denied Japanese Visas
VELVET REVOLVER has been forced to cancel its four scheduled concerts in Japan as immigration officials there have denied the band's request for visas. According to concert promoter Creativeman Productions Co., Ltd., "the members of VELVET REVOLVER were looking forward to their tour of Japan — a series of four concerts to promote their current album 'Libertad' between November 26 and November 30, encompassing the cities of Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Yokohama. For the band, the upcoming trek was an opportunity to reconnect with their fans in Japan, where the band tour has toured before — without incident — back in 2005. But now it's a different story as VELVET REVOLVER's request for visas has just been denied. The increasingly tough Japanese immigration officials are taking exception with the backgrounds of various band members, which have included arrests."
The affected dates are as follows:
Nov. 26 - Zepp - Osaka, Japan
Nov. 27 - Zepp - Nagoya, Japan
Nov. 29 - Blitz - Yokohama, Japan
Nov. 30 - Nihon - Budokan - Tokyo, Japan
VELVET REVOLVER recently completed a North American tour with ALICE IN CHAINS.
"The Last Fight" is the second single from VELVET REVOLVER's sophomore album, "Libertad", which has sold 250,000 copies in the United States since its early July release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The melodically transcendent and emotionally cathartic "The Last Fight" is one of the songs inspired by the recent passing of frontman Scott Weiland's brother Michael. In an August 3 interview with The Sun (UK newspaper), Scott explained, "'Libertad' is dedicated to Michael. It is a fitting album title as my brother was certainly searching for his own liberty and freedom up to the way he died. I was really angry at him at first, for my parents and our family but I was able to channel this anger and grief into songs as 'The Last Fight' and 'For A Brother'. It made me come to terms with how sad I was."
The first single from "Libertad" was "She Builds Quick Machines".

Nocturnal Rites Post Update
NOCTURNAL RITES have checked in with the following update:
"Hey, we just wanted to thank everyone involved in this tour for some awesome parties, great shows and new friendships! We had a blast! So; thanks all Finnish (THUNDERSTONE) and German (CAST IN SILENCE) guys! Also, big thanks to the fans for showing up and having a ball with us all! We will be posting some videos and stuff soon, so stay tuned.
Next up is the HAMMERFALL boat thing next week, which of course also will be a blast.
By the way, we are confirmed for House Of Metal Festival in Umeå in February next year!
Rock on and talk more soon!"
Nervous Wreck Breaking Up
Missouri hardcore band Nervous Wreck has called it quits. The group has issued the following statement:
"Ok, so rather than go into a long rant about the demise of Nervous Wreck, I will just say that the band has run its course. It's time to move on. Ben was going to leave the band anyway since he moved for school, and Dustin had decided to leave the band for other reasons, and the rest of us decided that we didn't care to keep the band going without the original core line-up of the band. Upon deciding this, Ben and Dustin both decided to stay with us to do a final show and end the band properly.
"So...there will be a final show. When? We aren't sure yet. Where? We aren't sure of that either. Kansas City is lacking an all-ages venue right now so we really don't know where we would do it. The final show will also be the 'American Heart' record release show. Yes, the record will see the light of day. It will have the 7 song 'American Heart' EP, as well as the 5 songs from the 2005 demo. It will basically have every NW song ever written, minus the last 2 that we wrote but never recorded. The effort will be released by Disgorge Media, which is dustin's label.
"Please keep checking back with us about a date for the final show. Right now it all just depends on when the CDis done being pressed and all the artwork stuff is ready to go. Then we will book the show and go out with one last hurrah.
"Thanks to everyone for the support over the last 3 years!"
Ex-All That Remains Bassist Joins She Is A Liar
She Is A Liar has added Josh Venn, formerly of All That Remains and Blood Has Been Shed, to their line-up. Here's a statement from the group:
"Recently, our guitarist and founding member Cory decided to leave the band in order to persue his career in law. Cory was the only original member and without him, there would be no She Is A Liar. We are definitely sad to see him go. We have parted on good terms and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors!
"As a result, our former bassist Wilson has moved on to guitar and we are happy to announce our new bassist Josh Venn as our newest addition to the SIAL camp. Josh fomerly played bass in All That Remains and guitar in Blood Has Been Shed. He had the following to say: 'There are 3 things that a band must possess to become great. Longevity, listenability and technicality. The only thing more important than that is a brotherly bond between members. A group of guys who can experience all the ups and downs of trying to make it together. I can honestly say that, until now, I've never been in a band that I've felt has had all of this. And I'm very proud to now be a part of it. The last time I played bass in a band was over 2 years ago with All That Remains. I had alot of good times with them, and I'm very happy for their success. No regrets though. I couldn't be happier than I am to be playing with She Is A Liar. I look foward to recording and touring with them. Hell, I even look foward to driving 2 1/2 hours to NY everytime we practice! 2008 is going to be a kick ass year!'
"We are excited to be playing with Josh and look forward to the good times ahead of us! Josh will be recording with us for our self-titled EP coming out February 2008 on Hunt Records."
