Noneuclid To Release Debut In January

NONEUCLID, the project formed in Bavaria/Germany in 2004 by Netherlands-based composer Morean and featuring members of DARK FORTRESS, will release its debut album, "The Crawling Chaos", in January via Merciless Records. A concept LP about the violent and inevitable death of the universe, the CD's lyrics were penned by acclaimed American poet Andrew Hughes.

According to the band's official bio, "musically, NONEUCLID strive to open doors to unknown psychic spaces. While being firmly rooted in extreme metal at all times, they freely blend style elements of death, thrash, black and progressive metal into a unique and gripping concoction. Virtuosity and complexity are not treated as absolute values, but as mere means to achieve a deep and advanced musical vibration. They use unusual instruments such as custom-made sculpture instruments (by German artist Ralf Fischer) and Arabic instruments, as well as subtle electronic and classical influences to explore the rich sound kingdom of extreme metal to the fullest." Machine Head Guitarist Rejoins Band For Last Date

MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel — who sat out several dates on the San Francisco Bay Area metal act's European tour due to the death of his father — rejoined his bandmates for the final show of "The Black Crusade" trek last night (Friday, December 14) in Helsinki, Finland.

For the concerts that MACHINE HEAD played without Demmel, they received assistance from members of "The Black Crusade" tourmates TRIVIUM, ARCH ENEMY and DRAGONFORCE, enabling the group to perform an abbreviated set without canceling a single show.

During MACHINE HEAD's December 7, 2007 performance in Zurich, frontman Robb Flynn dedicated the song "Descend the Shades of Night" to everyone who has lost someone important in his/her life, and informed the crowd that MACHINE HEAD had just lost a family member of its own, adding that the song would be played in Phil's father's honor. Demmel reportedly cried while he played the solo to the track, which Flynn had previously described as "an eight-minute elegy on death."

What’s more, Attack contains absolutely no cookie monster vox; lead vocalist Dahm actually sings his ass off!"

Anthrax Guitarist Speaks On Response To New Singer

ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian has issued the following update:

"The response to us announcing Dan [Nelson] as the new singer has been great, thank you. I can't wait for you to hear what we've got going on. Thanks for the patience, support and loyalty!!!"

Nelson, 32, is a virtual unknown, having fronted several local bands in the Long Island/New York area, including DEVILSIZE and ME, MY ENEMY.

"I was actually looking for a band," Nelson said in a press release. "Long Island is a pretty dead scene. I was in UNBROKEN, and through that I met Rob a couple years ago. I had gone through some stuff on a personal side where I took time off from the music. When I got back to the scene, I couldn't find a band, so I contacted Rob through MySpace and offered my services. We sent music back and forth, got together, and jammed for 10 hours straight. After 10 hours, he said, 'I think you'd be right for ANTHRAX."

"There's no place else I'd rather be right now," Nelson added. "It's a great vibe. I feel great, and I'm ready to go. It's lit that much more of a fire under me. I'm getting to live the dream, and it feels amazing. I can't wait for all these people who think ANTHRAX is done to be proven wrong. The naysayers are gonna be shut down, and the true-blue fans are gonna be pleased.”

ANTHRAX, featuring Nelson on vocals, guitarists Ian and Rob Caggiano, bassist Frankie Bello, and drummer Charlie Benante, is currently working on all-new material. "We wrote these songs and they fucking kicked ass," said Benante. "It was cathartic. We also want to take our time. This record will be under the microscope, more so than the others. We want to make sure it's 100% perfect."

Death Angel Reveal New Album Tracklisting

DEATH ANGEL guitarist Rob Cavestany has issued the following update:

"Our new recording is done! 'Killing Season' was mixed at Studio 606 by Nick Raskulinecz and mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering by none other than Brian 'Big Bass' Gardner. It is slated for release on February 26 in the U.S. and February 29 in the rest of the world. Leap year 2008!

"Here is the track listing:

01. Lord of Hate
02. Sonic Beatdown
03. Dethroned
04. Carnival Justice
05. Buried Alive
06. Soulless
07. The Noose
08. When Worlds Collide
09. God vs God
10. Steal the Crown
11. Resurrection Machine

"Nick began mixing on November 7, I joined him at 606 on the 19th and we finished the mixes two days later… just in time for Tanksgibin! The masters were sent over to BGM in Hollywood on December 4th and I arrived the next day for the session with Brian. By 6pm that evening I was on my way to the Roxy with a reference CD in hand… just in time for the listening party!

"The party itself was a BLAST! On the Rox was loaded full of our friends, family and industry associates who enjoyed an open bar hosted by the U.S. division of our label, Nuclear Blast America. Everyone chopped it up as drinks were consumed in mass quantities, all the while ROCKING to our new album for the first time…

"Needless to say it was hella FUN! Totally elating to witness a bar room full of music fans partying to our latest offering of jams! Best of all, the entire band was there, working the crowd like we do and loving it! The night concluded in the usual scenario of laughter, hugs, puke and blackouts! Can't wait for the next one! Thanks to NB and all who attended!

"Next day was a hung-over blur of meetings and business dealing that eventually found me back at the mastering lab meeting up with BG to make a few adjustments and print the final master. Then I raced to airport, barely making my flight home with a copy of the finished disc in hand… just in time to get back home with the latest slab of Bay Area thrash metal completed on December 6th which happens to be the birthday of my original inspiration to play guitar… the late great Randy Rhoads. How's that for a good sign?

"Artwork should be done any day now (c'mon Hiro!) and of course Den will do the layout and turn it over to NB… then it's a wrap! Interviews have already started and we've heard some GREAT feedback from the press already so now 'Killing Season' has truly begun… stay tuned for more news soon, my friends! It is ON!!!"

In the January 2008 issue of Decibel magazine, DEATH ANGEL vocalist Mark Osegueda explains how the group's collaboration with Raskulinecz came about. "We're friends with [Canadian rocker Danko Jones], and Nick was actually working on the new Danko record about to come out," says Mark. "We were already talking to different producers, and we'd heard Danko was working with this guy, and we were like, 'Wow, how'd you get that guy?' And Danko walked into the studio one day wearing his DEATH ANGEL hoodie, and Nick went, 'DEATH ANGEL!' and picked up a guitar and started playing the riffs to 'Seemingly Endless Time'. Danko e-mailed us the next day, and suggested we send down our demos to see if he was even interested. We did — Nick loved them, and the timing worked out; he had downtime and we needed to get into the studio within three weeks. All the pieces of the puzzle basically fell into place, and it's been magical."

DEATH ANGEL's latest CD, "The Art of Dying", was released in May 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records. The group's first studio album since 1990's "Act III" was recorded at SF Soundworks studios in San Francisco, California with producer Brian Joseph Dobbs (VOIVOD, MANMADEGOD).

Europe Singer Checks In

Singer Joey Tempest from Swedish hard rockers EUROPE has issued the following update:

"ust got of the phone with John (Norum - guitarist). We don't speak that often but when we manage to get a hold of each other we can stay on the phone for hours. Just like we used to do back when we started FORCE together.

John is in the middle of recording his solo album. Rehearsals are going well and he will start the actual recording any day now. He says this album will have a straight forward feel with not so many overdubs. I'm looking forward to hearing it.

We also had a chat about the New Years gig in Romania which could be a lot of fun. We also talked about the semi-acoustic show on 26th of Jan. at Nalen. We hope we can throw in a few surprises. Perhaps play a "cover". It's amazing to think that this show can be viewed from anywhere in the world over the internet. It will be a fun evening for sure.

We've started work on songs for the new Europe CD. The rest of the guys have been sending me ideas to work on here in London. There are some really cool songs coming out. We'll go into the studio after touring the summer next year.

As I told you 'One of these days this band is going to go places.'"

The Dillinger Escape Plan Bring Chaos to KY

Live shows are always about taking the good with the bad. December 6th at Headliners Music Hall in Louisville, KY would be no different. The bad things: Severely insufficient parking, The long, seemingly endless line to the door in the blustery cold, outrageous alcohol prices, fans trying to scream through their cell phone rather than taking in the performances, young couples bickering and opinionated Machine Head fans. This is all normal. Fortunately the bands came through in spades. A toasty venue, responsive bartenders, and expedient band crews didn’t hurt matters either. More...

Lordi Post Official "Dark Floors" Trailer Online

The official trailer for "Dark Floors" — the feature film starring the Finnish "monster" metal band LORDI — can be viewed below.

The plot summary is as follows: Concerned for her autistic daughter's health, a father sees her removal from the hospital by force as the only option. An elevator breakdown prevents a smooth exit and renders them trapped with others. Yet the incident is only the beginning of a descent into nightmare. As the doors open, the hospital appears mysteriously deserted. When mutilated bodies are found, creatures from a dark world start a frightening attack. It soon becomes clear that the survival of the group may rest solely on the little girl.

"Dark Floors" was shot in Finland at a cost of 4.2 million euros (approximately $6 million), according to Screen Daily.

The film, which features a largely Finnish cast, will premiere in the country on February 8, 2008.

LORDI recently introduced the film at the Cannes Film Festival.

The movie was described by the band's lead singer, Mr. Lordi, as a "traditional modern horror" that will feature monsters and "horrific scenes."

Mr. Lordi (real name: Tomi Putaansuu) added that the band's latex masks and monstrous costumes were derived from horror films so it was "kind of natural" for them to make their own movie. More...

Kataklysm Cancel U.K. Tour With Behemoth

Canadian extremists KATAKLYSM have decided to cancel their upcoming UK/Iberia tour alongside friends BEHEMOTH, scheduled for next February.

Explains singer Maurizio Iacono, "First I'd like to say how crazy of a ride it's been since the release if ITAOD (In The Arms Of Devastation. We've done over 200 shows in less than two years... Nine tours across the world and meeting all our fans was the highlight. They made our last album the biggest and strongest to date.

It's been great, but the machine needs time off.

There's nothing more we like than to stay on the road non-stop, but we have to come to reality here and see that we need to take a breather, recharge our batteries and come back stronger then ever with a brand new album, because we will have to re-do this all over again in no time.

We didn't want to cancel the tour with Behemoth, but after much thought it was the right decision. J-F has to keep working through January on the new album, so he gets absolutely no break time, which isn't fair. Then we have to mix it in February, and we need to be here to supervise this new masterpiece we created for you guys.

Prevail is the priority for next year and it needs our full attention... But don't worry, we have A LOT of plans ahead of us, and we will be back in no time at all. Also this doesn't affect the New Zealand and Australian dates in late March, those will go ahead as planned.

Other than that, the band is doing great, Steph will be rejoining us for the last four shows of this tour with CHIMAIRA, which has been great. We got a couple more dates left, check our MySpace or website and come check us out, these will be the last dates til the next record comes out. I'd like to wish everyone out there some happy holidays with your loved ones."
