Opeth Cancels Helsinki Show Due To Illness

Swedish progressive death metal act Opeth has been forced to cancel their show tonight in Helsinki. A posting from frontman Michael Akerfeldt explaining the cancellation reads as follows:

"Helsinki, forgive me!

"Well, it fucking sucks, I got laryngitis and my voice is fucked up! We're ready for the show, went with the ferry and that night was just horrible. Had a fever and thought I was gonna cough my lungs out. The next day after virtually no sleep my voice was like 3 voices in one, it sounded like something off The Excorcist, and I mean that in a bad way.

"Writing this I feel so bad we had to cancel because I fucking LOVE Helsinki and playing in Finland overall. I'm so sorry!! Please let us make it up to you. We'll schedule another day for a show there as soon as possible. Don't know how it works with the tix and everything but I guess calling the venue is the best idea. More...

"It was a tough decision and he struggled for months before making it, but in the end he just believed it to be the best choice.

"Sotiris joined the band in 2006 and was the band's bass player for many important concerts and all European tours up to now. He also was part of the line-up for the band's debut album, Eternal Domination, and can be seen performing on stage in Suicidal Angels' upcoming DVD, Live Domination, and various videos uploaded on YouTube. Primordial To Film Dublin Show For DVD Release

Irish doom metal act Primordial will be filming a show in Dublin, Ireland on January 24th at the Button Factory. A message from vocalist Alan "Nemtheanga" Averill reads as follows:

"There has been rumours flying around about the show we are doing on January 24th in Dublin but we can confirm now that it will be pro-filmed for a possible DVD release.

"The last show in January of this year did sell out so if you want to be part of what promises to be another memorable milestone in our history we would recommend that you get a ticket in advance for this one. I know quite a few people got turned away last time and the band would hate if people have made the effort to travel from abroad especially without a ticket and didn't get in...

"There will be loads of new merch and a special show t-shirt as well... not to mention our old friends from MOURNING BELOVETH playing their first Dublin show for their colossal new album and in our opinion Ireland's brightest young new band DARKEST ERA opening.

"Be there..."

This is the first time a fest like this has happened in RVA to my knowledge. One of our biggest goals with this beast of a fest is to keep it DIY. We want to do it yearly and I'm hoping you can all help it grow. If you come and show your support for your friends, the music, the bands, winter, whatever... I'm considering everyone involved in the first year to be the OG's of the fest!"
