Scale The Summit, the Houston-based progressive metal band, will unveil their Prosthetic Records’ debut, "Carving Desert Canyons," on February 17 and is currently streaming the new song "Sargasso Sea" on their MySpace page.
“Sargasso Sea’ is one of our personal favorites off the new album,” explained 8-string guitarist Chris Letchford. “We’re excited to be able to share new music with our fans, it’s been over two years since we had new songs to post.”
The industrious instrumental quartet filmed the recording of "Carving Desert Canyons" and will be sharing four “making of” clips leading up to release date. The first clip is available below. The album was recorded in the late Summer of this year at New Jersey’s Nut House Recording Studio.

The Haunted Posts New Song, Confirms Summer Breeze
The Huanted has posted a new song, "Little Cage," on their MySpace player. The Haunted also shared the following news:
"We just finished a world tour of Asia, Australia, Latin & South America. We just have one word for the experience: Overwhelming. We never realized we had so many fans in all the corners of the world. It just proves how big the metal movement is, and how dedicated people are to it. Some people had travelled over 2000 kilometers to attend the shows. Just crazy. Overall, we are kinda exhausted from all the flying. I guess it comes down to around 25 flights in 4 weeks time. We are tired of airports by now, but the experience to visit all the countries and people has certainly been beyond worth it.
"We would like to thank all the people coming out for the shows. We had a great time, and cya again soon!
"Right now we are preparing for a mini tour of Ireland & Northern Ireland followed by a video shoot for 'Trenches,' which will premiere early next year, but more info on that soon.
"Also, next year, as you all know by now; we are joining forces with ALL THAT REMAINS for a full-length European tour, followed by additional shows in some of the countries not covered on the European tour. Stay tuned to www.the-haunted.com and www.myspace.com/thehaunted for updates on this.
Sayonara! - The Haunted”
In other news, The Haunted has been confirmed for the 2009 edition of Summer Breeze Festival in Dinkelsbuhl, Germany. The festival takes place between 13-15 August. Other bands on the bill so far are:
AMON AMARTH
VOLBEAT
WINTERSUN
Stick To Your Guns Drummer Leaves Band
Stick To Your Guns and drummer Casey Lagos have gone their separate ways. Lagos had the following to say about the split:
"Regardless of what you've heard, I could have quit, could have gotten kicked out, could have been mutual, could have.. blah blah, doesn't matter. I'm not going to be playing in Stick To Your Guns anymore, but do wish them the BEST, and will always love the guys no matter what."
NIN Misses Opportunity To Film DVD
Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor has issued the following update about the band's current tour and DVD filming plans:
"File this one under lost opportunities.
"I'm very proud of the show we've put together for this tour and have been working hard the last few months to find a way to capture it. I had an amazing situation lined up that would have allowed me to film the show in 3D with James Cameron's team for a theatrical release as well as DVD / BluRay, etc. We had an extra date added to the tour that we were going to give away all the tickets for and have a filming party / thank you show.
"I made two critical mistakes. One was to approach a certain record company that owns some of the song rights about producing / funding. The second was to allow said company to fuck around as usual for months before saying um... no. We then achieved the impossible by finding alternate production / funding but the timetable is too rushed to get it filmed comfortably with the remaining time left on the tour. This tour and a lot of the personnel involved finish at the end of this leg, so we can't push filming into Jan / Feb.
"Deep breath...
This was an amazing tour and production - certainly the best thing I've ever been involved with and likely the final tour for NIN on this scale. Thank you to those who came out to see it and forgive me for having a Kanye West moment, but this was FOR SURE the best show of the year and any bullshit end-of-the-year poll you may read in the next few weeks that says otherwise simply has it wrong. Those of you who saw it know I'm right.
"The shows we have announced in 2009 and any more that may be announced will be a completely different approach with some different personnel and will likely be the last for the foreseeable future."
Abigail Williams Posts "Into The Ashes" Video
Abigail Williams has uploaded the brand new video for the song, "Into The Ashes" online. You can check it out below. The song comes from the bands latest album, "In The Shadow Of A Thousand Suns."
Abigail Williams frontman Ken Sorceron comments on the making of the video: "We filmed the video underneath London Bridge in this dungeon-like area that they used to store dead bodies in. We felt right at home, minus the smell, of course. We actually had just returned to the UK, having completed some European dates. We had been going on eight straight weeks of touring at that point, so we were all pretty tired, but we got through it and had a good time." More...

Northern Irish Christians Protest Gorgoroth Show
A group of Free Presbyterians recently protested at a Gorgoroth show in Belfast, Northern Ireland. You can check out a video of the incident below. The group was led by Reverend David McIlveen who stated: "This reprehensible group's influence on the young may push them to evil acts and lead to the fragmentation of family life.
"Organizers need to rethink their decision to give them concert time in Belfast as the majority of people in Northern Ireland will be highly offended by their apparent anti-God message.
"Anything that is detrimental to the Christian belief must be challenged and I will be doing that."
However, publicist for Limelight Ian Wilson says: "We book bands with absolutely no concern about their religious or political viewpoints. It's just music." More...

People came from France, Switzerland, Holland etc, to see Wolf play and we're very grateful to have shared both our music and the bar with you all. Also thanks to Daniele and crew for everything practical and for beeing great friends. And, yes, Primordial kicked ass! Thanx for the tee's guys!
"Touchdown in Sweden on Sunday only to get six hours of sleep to catch the next flight to Umeå, Sweden to record the video for the song 'Voodoo'. Owe Lingwall (director, drummer and host) got the band to a studio where we lashed out just like we always do. We also got some incredible voodoo kids in the video but the best part; we got to see singer/guitar player, Niklas, have cockroaches, giant spiders, snakes, blood and dirt all over him. Thats what you get for all the wicked things you've done. ha ha ha! More...
Primal Fear Vocalist Checks In
Primal Fear vocalist Ralf Scheepers has posted the following update online:
"Just a brief impression from my point of view to what's happening in the studio these days.
"It's very unusual for one band member to see and listen how the other band member is delivering the goods on his instrument. When we perform together live, you can also judge what's going on each instrument but not as clear and obvious as in the studio where you can concentrate on each tone or note or beat from your mates.
"From what I have heard so far I can really say it's the best performance I have ever heard from Randy (Black) on the drums and also from Henny (Wolter) on the guitar. Of course some people might think: 'What else should he say, he has to promote the new album and that's what every musician would say just to keep the ball running.' More...
