It's interesting how they break out "Best Hard Rock Performance" and "Best Metal Performance" and then they put Metallica under "Best Rock Album." Huh? Isn't there a best metal album category? I thought that's what Slayer won the other year. Or was that single? It wasn't a "rock" category I'm pretty sure though.

^except Slipknot and Korn didnt have 4 monumental masterpiece albums to fall into mediocrity from like metallica did; it was just a step down from the chair they were standing on.
As for the grammy's themselves....sigh. No. Metal needs to stay underground, or at least have it's head on it's shoulders if it gets famous. Sell acouple million albums, sold-out stadiums, that whole bag, sure. The grammy's though, is the most pompous self-engrandizing thing a metal band could attend, and the one thing they should stay the farthest from.
I enjoy noticing some of my favorite bands are getting recognition they deserve sometimes, but when Ministry and Slipknot are in competition, you know something is wrong with the world.

Noone could accuse you of spamming, because not only is your post eloquent and articulate, but your name rules out any argument that you could be a spammer. win/win
I would like to say though, that Dragonforce sh**s all over that sh**ty new kids n the block pop-rock, look-at-me-i-have-a-gimmick band Judas priest. f*** those guys, they have no idea what metal is.

The Grammys are an offense to metal, it's always a double edged sword because we both want to give metal bands exposure and have them treated fairly... all in all the Grammys have been so shocking in how they have treated metal I'd rather see the award pulled all together than keep on bumbling on.
Maybe just the format of relying on album sales as a factor in nomination just isn't suited to metal.
