"After considering the seriousness of Phil's health condition, we all feel that skipping these last two shows is the best thing to do. It's a bummer to end this tour like this after doing 9 amazing weeks and 3 continents with Slipknot, but getting Phil back to the States to get checked out is the most important thing right now. Our sincerest thanks to Slipknot and Children of Bodom for their support and understanding, we understand that it's a big disappointment to the fans, and Phil is very sorry about it, but we all feel that his health and safety is most important at this time."

Kataklysm Issues New Road Report
Kataklysm vocalist Maurizio Iacono has released the following update about how their tour with Marduk and Morbid Angel is going.
"We are more then half way done at this point, today we are in beautiful Vienna, Austria and having been here several times before we are energized at the mere thought of what this concert will bring, the tour has been running fantastic, all the bands seem super happy. Morbid Angel have been down to earth and super friendly to everyone on the tour and the fans (to me this is what makes them real rock stars!), its a pleasure to see them rip through the classics every night, are old friends in Marduk, Keep Of Kalessin and Arsis are also dominating the stage and making this tour great. As for Kataklysm what can I say, Europe is Europe and they always know how to treat bands here and the crowds have been killer and really behind us, cant ask for more on our part , just happy to see metal alive and kicking in Europe..couple more dates then the holidays and looking forward to what 2009 brings, we wish everyone the best of time with their families!"
Phil Conalane Comments on Velvet Revolver Rumors
Vocalist Phil Conalane of Million $ Reload has issued a statement to Classic Rock Magazine about the recent rumors that he will become the new Velvet Revolver Singer. Interestingly, he neither confirms nor denies the rumor.
He commented: “I’m guessing you were pretty surprised when your ‘source’ informed you that I was to be the new Velvet Revolver singer. So was I! This rumor was certainly NOT started by me nor anyone within the Million $ Reload camp.
“I don’t regard your original story as nonsense. Since Duff [McKagan] remarked to an Irish newspaper that he had been keeping an eye on an Irish singer, but that he wasn’t too keen on disturbing the band he was in, the story has been going around – Ireland’s a small island, so not too many rock singers!
“Most of the stuff that has been written about us is true. Kerri Kelly [Slash’s Snakepit] is a buddy, we’ve played with Steven Adler and Gilby Clarke, and most of the other stuff that’s been said.
“But it is sad to hear that some people regard this story as a cynical publicity stunt by Million $ Reload. After all it is quite unsettling for the rest of the band to hear your singer could be leaving, with tours in Europe and the US planned for 2009.

Until then check out this short clip of Shaun working on some new Dirge stuff!"
Unlikely Xasthur Shout Out: Part 1 Redux
Hydra Head Records has posted their reactions to yet another shout out to Xasthur from Ryan Adams. Here's what they had to say:
"That Ryan Adams guy just gets better and better...first he gave Xasthur a shout out in the NYTimes, and now in the new issue of Blender he's listed off his 13 favorite metal tracks...and, yep, you guessed it...he listed Xasthur on there. And at 13 no less! We're still not entirely sure what his music sounds like (although we are fairly certain it does not sound like Xasthur) but we are inching closer and closer to buying a record of his. Or maybe just illegally downloading it AND THEN buying it. Either way, we're going to check him out. Can some one put us in touch with him? Seriously. We want to send him the new Xasthur 2xLP that comes out next month!"
Here's what he says in the new Blender:
13. "The Prison of Mirrors," Xasthur
"I imagine a sad demon who just broke up with his demon girlfriend, and he's sitting on a big ash pile with his 'Dear Demonic John' letter going, 'Fuuuuck!' Then again, if you're making black metal that good, you probably don't have a girlfriend."
Testament Takes Over Headbangers Ball
Today, Saturday, December 13, Bay Area thrash legends TESTAMENT will be taking over the airwaves on MTV2's Headbangers Ball. Along with their brand-new video for "More Than Meets The Eye," Headbangers Ball will also be airing never-before-seen footage from the band's shoot at Alcatraz in San Francisco. "More Than Meets The Eye" was produced by Kevin Custer (Kingdom of Sorrow, Beneath The Massacre).
Six TESTAMENT art pieces, performances, and videos will be intertwined with all the videos that air on Headbangers Ball, which airs Saturday night at 2AM Eastern / 1AM Central.
Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson recently commented on Headbangersblog.com about their new video: "We haven't had a new video out for a long time, since 'Low' in '94. Our new video is for 'More Than Meets the Eye,' and it was created by Kevin Custer who's worked with Kingdom of Sorrow and Beneath the Massacre among others. It was really fun working with Kevin. He really worked in tandem with the band's vision and took it to the next level.
"The band went to LA and shot performance footage in front of a green screen, then Kevin turned that footage into mayhem with some "Formation of Damnation" happening in the background. We're happy with it as our first video. We look forward to doing more videos and getting into a concept. We're definitely pleased to have this represent us for the first one from the new record.
"The feel of the video is more about unearthing the demons within and the terror that wrath can incite. And as the song progresses, the mayhem takes over - a reflection of what is inside the band and the music we create... More Than Meets the Eye."
You can also watch the video after the jump. More...
Samael Recording New Album
Swiss metal band Samael has announced that they are working on a new album to be released in 2009 titled "Above." The band issued the following statement on their website:
"After 20 years we've tried to do an album that would represent what S A M A E L is all about and we did "Solar Soul". We feel now it is the right time to remind the people where we come from and that's exactly what "Above" will do. It is like an enhanced version of our three or four first albums, maybe the missing link between "Ceremony Of Opposites" and "Passage". With the "Era One" project we've tried to work on different influences, with "Above" we striped everything down. It is a metal album through and through."
Turmoil Selects New Singer, Nate Johnson

As you may recall, Johnson recently joined New Jersey's Fit For An Autopsy. Lambgoat reportst that his role with that group will remain unchanged, and in fact, the band just finished recording a new EP with Johnson on vocals.
