Chthonic Completes New Album

The Asian symphonic black metal band ChthoniC, who made international headlines by championing Taiwanese democracy from the Ozzfest and Wacken stages last summer, has recently finished recording their new album, “Mirror of Retribution” (a concept album), in Los Angeles with producer (and Anthrax guitarist) Rob Caggiano (Cradle of Filth, Bleeding Through). This marks the band's first-ever recording sessions in America.

"We had a good time working in Denmark for three albums, but we had some exciting chemistry between us and Rob, a new producer with a fresh vision and a fresh environment," says ChthoniC vocalist Freddy Lim. "We like Rob's past work very much -- especially the depth and strength of all the different instruments -- and as a huge fan of Anthrax, it was our pleasure to work with him." More...

Rev Theory Partners w/ Jam Legend, Just Launched

Interscope artists Rev Theory have partnered with online music gaming platform Jam Legend, which has just left private beta and is now open to the public!

Rev Theory’s song “Hell Yeah” will be available at launch, with current single “Light It Up” debuting next week. Both songs come from Rev Theory’s major label debut "Light It Up," which hit stores earlier this year.

Jam Legend is, according to the press release, "a free, browser-based gaming platform that simulates the thrill of rocking out to a sold out crowd, while enabling features never before available in console games such as Rock Band or Guitar Hero." CNet’s Josh Lowensohn called it “just brilliant,” and that experience is now available to players everywhere.

On the road this winter with Hinder for the Jägermeister Music Tour, Rev Theory has been playing to sold-out crowds and, in their off time, reviewing videogames on their bus for IGN.com with their Gamercast video series.

Submission Signs To Blistering Records

Danish melodic death/thrash band SUBMISSION, have signed a worldwide deal with BLISTERING RECORDS.

The band's second album, “Code Of Conspiracy,” will be released by BLISTERING RECORDS in early 2009.

"Code Of Conspiracy" is "a grand tour de force in highly technical, yet still melodic and aggressive death/thrash played by highly skilled and ass kicking musicians — it's clear that SUBMISSION holds no fear towards colleagues such as MESHUGGAH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, SOILWORK or TEXTURES whatsoever!"

SUBMISSION's new album marks the debut of new singer Lasse Sivertsen, who replaced Steven Qvist, the man behind the microphone on the band's debut album, "Failure To Perfection" (Listenable Records, 2006).

Commented drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen: "I believe SUBMISSION has its own trademark. Our song structures are not common and there is a huge variety within our songs. The music is kind of technical but still with hit potential. Also, we have a range from very groovy and melodic parts to fast blast beats. In metal 'more is more' and I think SUBMISSION climbs that demand without losing perspective."

The tentative tracklisting for “Code Of Conspiracy” is:

1. 111008666700
2. Rebel Of Society
3. Imaginary Freedom
4. A Terror Within
5. In The Eyes Of The Tyranny
6. An Illusion Of The Perfect Forever
7. Determent Infiltration
8. Deservant
9. Celebrate The Dead
10. Code Of Conspiracy
11. The End Of Eternity
12. Raised Above God (bonus track)

Day Of The Dead Signs To Anchors Aweigh Records

Anchors Aweigh Records has announced the signing of Portuguese hardcore band Day of the Dead.

Day Of The Dead started out as a band in the summer of 2001, establishing themselves as one of the oldest and most solid European hardcore bands. Since then, they've managed to tour Europe for three times, two of them with Just Went Black (New Age Records/Assault Records),
did one East Coast U.S. tour with Ruiner (Bridge 9 Records), did two Iberic tours, one with Endstand (Lifeforce Records/Blacktop Records), the other one also with Just Went Black, did one Brazilian tour
and played tons of shows around Portugal and Spain.

On top of that, they've managed to release a self-titled 7", two split 7"s, one with Ruiner, the other one with The Damage Done (Rivalry Records), one MCD/7" and one full length CD/LP.

2009 will unveil DOTD's new full length entitled "Perspectives," which will definitely allow the band to move forward into a darker and heavier sound,
both musically and lyrically, while keeping their trademark classic raw yet melodic hardcore/punk sound.
"Imagine Unbroken's heaviness, Tragedy's sense of urgency and Kid Dynamite's melodic sensibility
all together," describes the label. "Top it all off with the political and social awareness so much alive during the
90's hardcore scene and you get the idea."

The new album, "Perspectives," will be out aound late February or early March on Anchors Aweigh Records.

You can check out some new songs on the band's MySpace page.

Revolution Renaissance Cancels South American Tour

REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE has issued an official statement concerning their forthcoming South American tour:

"We are forced to postpone our tour due to lack of professionalism and responsibility of the promoter Incartaz. They approached us with an offer for the tour in June, which we were very happy about. When the time came to start fulfilling the contractual obligations, it became evident that this promoter was incompetent and could not be trusted.

"We are very sorry about this and we tried to book the tour with the new promoter Eric De Haas of Dynamo Productions, but due to his obligations with Nightwish's South American tour, he did not have enough time to finalize the touring arrangements. We have full confidence in Eric De Haas, who was responsible for the first three South American tours for Stratovarius. The tour is currently being booked in correspondence with the new album release."

Corpus Mortale Announces Replacement Guitarist

Denmark's Corpus Mortale have issued the following update on their MySpace page:

"In October, guitarist Roar Christoffersen decided to call it quits after seven years in Corpus Mortale. The reason is that he wants to concentrate solely on his other band Bastards. What initially was just meant as a 'helping hand' for a limited time turned out to be seven great years with one of the best musicians in the scene. He had (and will hopefully continue to have) a major role in the shaping of the trademark Corpus sound as well as the songwriting of both full-length albums. We thank Roar for all the time, dedication and efforts he put into the band through the years." More...

Warbringer Issues Year-End Wrap Up

WARBRINGER became road warriors over the course of the past year. The band spent the entire year on the road, hitting nearly every location you could imagine, in support of their Century Media debut, "War Without End." Before heading into the studio to begin work on their next record (more info on that coming soon), Frontman John Kevill took time to issue the following statement.

"So 2008 is wrapping up, and what a year it has been for Warbringer. It’s been surreal as so many dreams have come true. In February we released our first album, War Without End, and we toured in support of it for ten months. We played over 200 shows on 7 different tours through 16 countries; we drove countless miles, we went through 2 vans and a trailer, A rhythm section and a royal shitload of beer and weed. We played our metal everywhere from our home on the west coast all the way to the shores of the Black Sea.

"We want to thank everyone who made all this possible for us, here goes the list:

"Our manager Marco Barbieri, our bookng agents John Finberg and Marc at MAD, Century Media Records, Bill Metoyer, all of our families, all the clubs, press, radio stations, video outlets and record stores that helped promote us, Exodus, Suffocation, Goatwhore, Arsis, Napalm Death, Finntroll, The Faceless, Nile, Sworn Enemy, All Shall Perish, Overkill, and most of all, all the fans who came out to the shows and raged, hung out with us, gave us a place to stay or food to eat. You guys are completely awesome!

"We'll be doing the same kind of relentless touring schedule next year, and already have 100 shows booked in just the first few months alone. Till then we’re in the jam room every day working on new material. Expect a new album next year. See you out on the road in '09!"

Arch Enemy Gears Up For "December Tyranny" Dates

Arch Enemy's Michael Amott has commented on the band's upcoming "December Tyranny" tour dates:

"We’ve been busy rehearsing this last week, and I have to say after brushing off some inevitable cobwebs (we haven’t played since August) we are back on track and sounding pretty f***ing crushing, if I may say so myself! :-P

"I’m aching to get out there and play these shows, and I know the whole band is really looking forward to this short European run leading up to the holidays! On a side note, I just heard that a couple of the Scorpions guys got added as special guests to the DORO Anniversary show, how awesome is that? That show is shaping up to be a really cool experience, with friends like Warrel Dane (Nevermore) and Bobby Blitz (Overkill) in the house too…

"So with that and the headline shows we are doing with Leave’s Eyes, Mercenary and Sister Sin, this is a perfect way to end a great year for me and Arch Enemy! See you there..."

Thaurorod Posts New Song Online

Melodic metal band THAUROROD has posted online a new version of the song "Into The Realms Of Hidden Me," with the new vocalist Markku Kuikka. The version is a rather raw one, but the band promises more and better previews for the coming album, "Upon Haunted Battlefields."

"This demo song is 100% home-recorded and mixed/mastered. The song will have a new better mix in about two weeks and at the same time we will release the title song of the new album "Upon Haunted Battlefields". But take this just as demo version. The actual album versions will be completed during next year on Spring/Summer.

"The idea of releasing these demo songs is just to give you a track with Markku Kuikka on vocals to listen.
Anyway we hope you will enjoy what you hear and please give us a word!!!," says bassist Pasi Tanskanen.

The guitarist of the band, Emil Pohjalainen, has recently joined the ranks of AMBERIAN DAWN.

Escape the Fate to Headline US Tour in Spring

After honing their skills on the road most recently with Chiodos and Silverstein, Escape the Fate is set to headline their own six-week US tour beginning on February 5 in Pomona, CA. Tickets for all shows go on sale Saturday December 13. Main support on the tour courtesy of Florida's Black Tide with additional support from Attack Attack, William Control (Aiden) and Burn Halo (ex-Eighteen Visions).

Escape the Fate's recent release "This War is Ours" has kept the scene buzzing since its release on October 21 via Epitaph Records. Introducing vocalist Craig Mabbit (formerly of Blessthefall) and produced by John Feldmann (the Used, Story of the Year), the new record caused Buzznet.com to crash when a flurry of fan activity surrounding the release of the first single, "The Flood," overwhelmed the social networking giant's servers.
